This is a slight Rant...
I'm extremely annoyed. No make that angry. My entire life I've lived next to a forest. It's actaully three sections of forest seperated by Dirt Hills. But it was beautiful, be it slightly small. I used to always go up there be it to explore or just hang around and read or something. I even did a few rituals up there. It was such a great place. But now...
It's been cut down. There's only one section left. They chop down and Bulldozed everything in two of the sections. To make room for giant houses. And we don't even need to houses!! There are at least a dozen boarded up houses in my Neighborhood, there's no need to eliminate this forest simple for houses.
It's terrible... I wish I knew a way to stop it. So I turn to you fellow Guild members. Is there anyway I can stop this... Is there anything I can do aside from chaining myself to a Bulldozer and getting Arrrested?

I understand how you feel. Every house I've lived always had yards backing up to untouched patches of woodland... and I loved playing there with friends as a child. Whenever I've gone back... I never fail to find that while the houses are still there, the forest have disappeared only to have more development in its place.
Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do... especially if its private property. You might try finding our whom owns the land, and make an appeal to them. (But developers pay a lot of money for land... it would be hard to persuade them out of their cash..) If the land is public, you might try petitioning.... will take some research either way.

Write to your senator and/or start a petition. I, too know how this feels but not at such a huge extent as you have.

Yea... It's so cruel. They can just destroy acres of land and homes(animals homes) without even blinking an eye or giving it a second thought. Well thanks for your suggestion. I think I'll start with writing to my senator and finding out if it's public property or not and seeing if there's something I can do. Which I hope there is....

I absolutely cannot handle the feeling of helplessness.

Another thing you could do also is form a protest in front of the forest that is being threatened to being cut down and in that way they can't simply bulldoze you or anyone else.

I thought of that. But I believe that's illegal. You need an Assembly Permit (I think) and It's probably private proterty... I could be wrong though... But I've never heard/seen that be succesful...

I know how you feel- there used to be a span of forested area in my neighborhood as well, and I and several of the neighborhood kids used to go there to explore and relax, and play through the trees. It was wonderful.
Then one day I came outside to see that most of the trees were gone. Fires were burning in spots where the roots stretched too deeply into the ground for them to pull them out. Everything was overturned soil and bits of wood- the freshly turned red clay seemed like an open wound to me. To make matters worse, just a few days prior had been Earth Day, and I had planted a tree out there in a bare spot- I had been going to check up on it, and bring it some water. And I still ran out into the construction area to look for it- but it was long gone. And I was just a kid; there was nothing that I could do. I ranted and fumed at the construction workers, but they were just doing their job; they had no more power over what happened there than I did. By the time you see them at work on the site, it's too late.
But it's not too late for other sites, just like that one. You most likely won't be able to save the forested land in your neighborhood now that it's already been cut- it's sad, but true. But still, write to your city officials. Find out if you have town meetings. Through sources like these you can keep yourself informed of developments going on in your area and protest them before they happen- that's when these kinds of projects are most vulnerable. That's when you can be most effective.
I'm sorry for your loss. sad I've been there too, and it's a heart-rending feeling.

I don't care if it's there job, they should know the consequences they bring and perhaps get a better job that doesn't endanger the lives of the entire planet and Nature's beauty. Yes they may have a spouse and children to support but what would you rather live in? A life of poverty or a life of never seeing the grass be as green and trees in their natural beauty? I think a child would have more fun being with Nature than just sitting on bare ground with riches.
That's how I view it anyway. Either way, I don't mostly blame the people who's job it is to do such horrible things, rather the company as a whole.

I remember this one time in 7th grade, it was Earth day and I was riding the school bus home and we came to one of the stops. So I looked out the window and I saw some guy was cutting down the tree so I opened the window and screamed "IT'S EARTH DAY YOU ******** HEARTLESS a** HOLE SAVE A TREE!!!" He was a bit startled by it but he still cut down the tree. cry
