That could be said for anyone ever. ಠ_ಠ "You want me to battle for a badge? Screw this. *shoots gym leader, takes badge, runs*" In all seriousness though, Veilstone's Myth could be an explanation for why people use Pokémon instead of manufactured weapons to fight. To the skies, the young man shouted his dismay. "In having found the sword, I have lost so much. "Gorged with power, I grew blind to Pokémon being alive. "I will never fall savage again. This sword I denounce and forsake. "I plead for forgiveness, for I was but a fool." So saying, the young man hurled the sword to the ground, snapping it.

Doesn't mean that they wouldn't have fought humans with weapons, too. :/ Hell if I know. They probably don't just shoot Ash because the episode would be banned or something. We all know what happened with the Dratini episode.

IRL? Because it's a children's cartoon program. The target audience is boys ages six to twelve, so that kind of violence is not appropriate.
Canonly? Because they're idiots, I guess. They can't even steal a damned Pikachu in a decade's worth of trying. It's foolish to think they'd do anything resembling how a real-life mafia works.
Also, I do believe that this belongs in the speculate subforum.

Another interesting point is that in a world where you can control a monsters that breath fire and shoot lasers, you don't really need guns.
