*NOTE: Both of us listen to certain rap songs/artists. We are not posting this so that we can cause trouble or "hate on" the people that listen to rap. We just are frustrated by the songs in the following rant.

We listen to all genres and can find songs that we enjoy and can to listen to. But of all the genre's combined, rap is just one of the one's that makes us want to pull our hair out. Now, as was said before, we both have artists in the rap genre that we listen to and enjoy. But there are some artists that just dont make sense and really shouldn't be able to call themselves artists. There are some artists out there ((and we wont name them for fear of our lives)) that we want to just walk up to ask them if they wanted to be seen as morons? What the hell were they thinking when they wrote that song? Were they trying to get attention? Well, that was not the kind of attention they wanted. Now, pay close attention to the following lyrics:

Shoulda Lean - Young Dro

Let me see you bounce right to left and let your shoulder lean
Let your shoulder lean, just let your shoulder lean
Ay, get it right, two step and let your shoulder lean, let your shoulder lean
Just let your shoulder lean

Let me see you bounce right to left and let your shoulder lean
Let your shoulder lean, just let your shoulder lean
Ay, get it right, two step and let your shoulder lean, let your shoulder lean
Just let your shoulder lean

Dro...I'm clean in this b*tch
Now I'm finna shoulder lean in this b*tch
N**** buck..carbon 15 in this b*tch
This Grand Hustle team of kings is gettin' rich
I lean and get lit, lima bean 6
I take breath, the opposite of Primatine Mist
I ride 26 and let my 9 screen "flip"
Dro be watchin' Oprah, Mac, 9 up in a clip
Triple black Phantom n**** nah it ain't Tip
With Lucky charm diamonds and man but nah it ain't Flip
K bounce..ok then I let my shoulder lean
And I bet my car talk, and I bet my motor clean
Suicide doors, Brown Rover look like pok n bean
Erybody know me in the club cuz they smokin' me..Dro
Hoes scopin' me, ice come from Bo Bareeton
Hundred carats have 'em froze for an eon
Red, black, and white Chevy now I'm ridin' Deion
Put them lights off in my rims, now I'm ridin' neon
Our cars look like cra-yon, hoes know I'm the man though
I can shoulder lean... ionno how to dance thooooo

Let me see you bounce right to left and let your shoulder lean
Let your shoulder lean, just let your shoulder lean
Ay, get it right, two step and let your shoulder lean, let your shoulder lean
Just let your shoulder lean

First I let my wheels spin, then I let my screen fall
Then I let my trunk beat at Greenbriar Mall, tall
And then I pimp a hoe, take a b*tch to Berlin
B*tch break n*****, after that we f*** they girlfriend
My girl got a girlfriend, Chevy blue like whirlwind
N**** it's a drought on that boy, so I got that girl in
Pearl Bent', cockin' hammer, Arm & Hammer propaganda
B****** think I'm pimpin' and leanin' in salamander sandels
Dirty South hot cuz Atlanta.. show n***** with ammo
We ride Phantom, holla shawty for grammar
Yep, now I be on TV, BET, out the channel
Hood n**** from Bankhead, I stay by Grandma Nana
I lay by my banana, dumpin' and punkin' monkeys
Don't nobody live with my mom but a bunch of junkies
Throw me the donkey, b**** I ride glaze on the haze
Gator green Chevy, gator gut, alligator J's

Let me see you bounce right to left and let your shoulder lean
Let your shoulder lean, just let your shoulder lean
Ay, get it right, two step and let your shoulder lean, let your shoulder lean
Just let your shoulder lean

[8X]
Lean, lean

Get ya shoulder shawty

Now, what is rolling through your mind after reading that? You want to know what's rolling through ours? "@@#$$#&&^???????"
Now, let's disect this piece of writing, if you can call it that. The first two paragraphs are not as utterly horrendous as the rest of the song is. They have a slight beat to it, and I'm guessing that's what the major theme of the song is. Everything is fine until you get to the first verse. Every line is a different subject, which makes the theme of the first verse hard to identify. Also, no correct English was used, which makes the words hard to understand. In line five, Dro says "I lean and get lit, lima bean 6." First what is Lima bean 6? Nothing of this context exists. So obviously, this was made up just for rhyming purposes. News flash, it is better not to rhyme than to make something up. Then you just look like an idiot. He then goes on to talk about watching Oprah, WHILE HE IS DRIVING, which doesn't make sense. You can kill someone doing that.

In the second verse, things goes from bad to worse. He talks of taking someone to Berlin. Where the hell did that come from? Arm & Hammer propaganda. WHat the hell is this? Is he making things up just to look like a moron? He has done a fine job so far, if this is what he wanted to do. Then, he does something idiotic. He writes that someone is hollering for grammar. Helll yea there hollering for grammar, because he doesnt use it! At all! "I lay by my banana, dumpin and punkin monkeys." That doesnt make any sense, AT ALL. You can't dissect that because it doesnt make sense and makes his stupidity that much stronger. There are more made up things and spelling grammars, more to even mention. But, we think you get the idea.

We have now gotten our frustrations out. For the moment. Next month we'll probably find another song to chew up and spit out.

Yes, I do that a lot.

I think I'm like Raven in the sense that I listen to a great many genre of music. On my iPod you will find anything ranging from the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, to Aladdin, to Disturbed, to Rihanna, to Cascada, to Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas, The Bangels, Frank Sinatra, Kid Rock, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Faith Hill, the list just goes on and on.
Now of course I find my favorite genre in Alternative Rock...gotta love that Linkin Park! But, one of my favorite aspects of Linkin Park is how they mix music. Chester sings and screams, Matt raps! Han has a mixer in the back!
I don't think it's right to judge a song or a musician by the genre that they fall into, we have to judge the songs on their own. I enjoy the singing style of rap, I do not like what the genre has become...mainly because of lyrics and song content like Raven and Blue pointed out. But the singing style? I love it! I happen to be quite fond of DMX, they pretty invented rap as a genre back in the '80s.
But lets just be careful that we are judging the songs for what they are, and not because of who sings them or what genre they are in. Don't be closed minded people! It's dangerous!

Agreed, just no country and rap for me. I love linkin park though, as they have a unique sound and I relate to them so well.

I have a math teach named Haan, and it's said the same way! ><
