I have no religion per se, but I believe in logic, rational thought and the scientific method.

Hm..
Maybe I'm recalling wrong but Charles was raised catholic and grew apart from that religion. 3nodding
By the way isn't there a religion that follows the 'force' out there somewhere? Jedism?

Well since the old religion thread is on the other page, I won't lock this thread. 3nodding
Wiim can if he wants. 3nodding

As for buddhism.
I barely know much about it either, but there are several branches of buddhism.

I believe I'm a taotist mixed with the chinese gods follower. 3nodding

I'm Buddhist. Like, Darkaznstargoddess, I also barely know about it... I'm trying to know a little bit more of it each time I have the chance to. biggrin

Yep, I was raised as a Catholic but grew apart from it... I tried my hand at being a Christian and also Buddism but I came to the same conclusion.

In my view, I know not all will share this, but I feel that religion has a primary goal of educating and encouraging their followers to make morally and ethically appropriate choices. It also provide a support structure for times when one is feeling weak.

That said, I feel that I am sufficiently capable to critically analyze a situation and determine for myself what is proper and what is not. Also, I have my own system of dealing with problems that arise in life...

my religions are buddism and wicca

Since this is a pleasant place and all, I won't express what I think of 'wicca'..

..anyway. I'm not religious per se but I have theories.. complicated ones.. like Charlie, I have my own system. ^^;;

I think it has something to do with 'life after death' and the human sort of mindset which wants to believe that there's a purpose. Life after death, 'cause everyone is afraid of the unknown and death is, after all, the big one.. people need some kind of reassurance.. and humans can't seem to accept that something just happens; they always look for the reason (even when there may not be one) and if they can't find one, they sort of guess..

I'm more....atheist/agostic. Sometimes I think god(s) exist, other times I don't.
Either way, I follow my own...code.

Ahh... perhaps in my old age I still haven't yet come to even consider that aspect seriously. I don't believe in a life-after-death. From my biology background, when it's all over, I think it's just all over. Done.

There is no purpose (1 out of 6,000,000,000 people isn't going to make a difference) and with that said, why bother? Just do what you need to do to make yourself and those who you care about happy and you've fulfilled your purpose.

In the end... dust to dust and ashes to ashes. 3nodding
