Keepers usually expect that a small part of their stock will be dying before they are ready to be traded. It can be death from accidents, bad weather or perhaps just a bad egg that needed to be culled. It's all to be expected, really, and there is not much to be done about it except trying to shelter the stock and breed wisely to avoid botched litters or clutches.

But when large numbers of companions and breeding stock start to disappear suddenly, every good Keeper will start to get a bit suspicious.

Duskwater and Osprey have been sent to investigate the disappearance of a large portion of Roguefeather's delicious and carefully bred stock. He is known for his tasty Skurri, and lately their numbers have started to shrink at an alarming rate.

Specific details: Depending on your choices there is a risk of injury in this scenario.

Duskwater preened carefully, allwowing himself a moment of quiet reflection while he waited at the edge of Roguefeather's territory. He had yet to announce his presence, and was not really in any particular hurry to do so. He still needed to meet up with his assigned volunteer, after all. It wouldn't really do to start the investigation without her.

A young Mist Scout, he had been told, eager to prove herself. So far so good, then. He sent a sharp glance out at the surrounding trees, hoping to catch a glimpse of her approach so that he could call her over for a quick evaluation before they got down to business.

Duskwater, used to working alone from his years as a Ranger, always preferred to have a good idea of the person he would be cooperating with, even if it was only a rather routine-like mission such as this one.

Time and circumstances permitting, of course.

Which they did, this time.

It felt as though her heart was going to stay in her throat!

The young scout was practically brimming with energy and cheer, but was working hard to keep her actions and her beak in check. Unfortunately her beak still had a habit of running a little too much when she was excited, which led to excessive chatter and eating her words.

But she had been working hard to curb herself of that and Breeze had done a good job of teaching her.

The pale feathered Mist made her way through the trees swiftly, knowing her destination well enough from when she had been instructed on where to meet nights ago by a small, yet well taught messenger chirop.

"Where go?"

"That thing I told y'bout, Mus. Keep quiet an' out of the way, unless we need you." Osprey hooted quietly to the similarly colored companion that nestled on her back, holding tight to the leather rope that held her bone pendant. Hopefully he wasn't already there. Although she was on time, if not early, she would still see herself as late.

She was there, now, just outside of the territory belonging to Roguefeather.

There, a glimpse of white moving very purposefully through the trees. He faintly heard the Mist hoot something as she flew, but didn't need to hear the message to understand that it wasn't meant for him. Still, that ought to be the Scout. He straightened up a little bit and at the same time let out a deep-voiced hoot, no louder than he needed in order to catch her attention. After all, he didn't quite need to let Roguefeather know that he was here, just yet.

He took a few, calculated steps out further on the branch, to make himself easier to spot, and kept an eye on the white Sentinel's movements as he awaited her arrival with stone-faced calm.

Her attention was, indeed, caught. A wave of embarrassment washed over her, as she suddenly felt there might of been a possibility that she was late. She was well aware she wasn't, but the nagging feeling was still there as she winged her way towards the stolid, gray figure that had called for her.

She perched a respectable distance from Duskwater and dipped her head politely. Her mus slipped from her back and tucked very near to her talons, as if shielding herself from any possible harm. It was something she often did in the presence of any unknown sentinels, and she washed her face with her little paws as she awaited any further instruction from her owner.

"Sir, it's a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with you." She could think of little else to say at that exact moment, preferring to have further instruction. She feared making an owl of herself in front of the chevron marked Ghost that she was volunteering for.
