We watched it in health class. When the teacher mentioned we'd be watching 'a movie about domestic abuse' I said, "We're watching Twilight?" just loud enough for the people around me to hear (I didn't want to get too bashed). The girl sitting across from me (the same girl whose friends brought in an Eddykins standup for her twi-birthday) gave me a judgmental stare. SO funny.
Anyway, we watched it. There was more punching and shoving than Twilight, but the themes were exactly the same. "Don't go to the party or I'll break up with you," the guy says. The girl gets convinced by her friends to go, meets a guy friend, and her boyfriend shows up. He takes her outside, yells at her, shoves her, etc. Then when she starts to cry he comforts her and says he's sorry and it'll never happen again. They go through the cycle a few times until he kind of kidnaps her. At that point I said, "He's going to dump her in the middle of the woods!" and the twilight girl looked at me and said, "Whaat...?"
There were breaks in between scenes saying "Do you agree that it was [the girl]'s fault?" and I would say "Yes, she's tempting him." I answered every question like that, in my half-twitard voice, saying "It's her fault. Guys should be in control of the relationship. Men are superior to women. Women are men's property, you know," etc. One of the girls at my table didn't get it was a joke and she was like, "Wait... my boyfriend doesn't control me..." etc. and the girl closer to me said, "She's being sarcastic." But MAN some girls are dumb.
Oh, and at the end of class I tried to get my teacher to agree with me that the movie was just like Twilight, hoping she would be anti too, but she tried to avoid the subject and said, "It's just entertainment. The movie you watched in class was educational." I did argue with her that people want their relationship to be like Edward/Bella but she wasn't buying it. evil stare
It was soo funny though. In the middle of the movie, whenever the guy shoved her or something, I would mutter, "Edward..." I think the girls around me noticed but none of them mentioned it. He was just like Edward, even though it was a bit exaggerated.
Can you believe that in class girls can say "I'd never let that happen to me," etc. but outside they say, "I want Edward to watch me sleep." ?? They're SO NAIVE. (discuss)

I'd have done the same thing. 'Course, my Health teacher would have ignored it.
Still, you win several internets!

Have I ever told you how much I love you?
My school doesn't have Health class so I only get to make fun of Twilight in English and Book Club.

Jerba Why do people think I'm awesome? It's a little weird... People hate me in school... Because generally, people online are much more awesome than people at schools. That and the fact that we seem to share the type of humor. That helps too. biggrin
