{ the writer }

Name: Alice Clara Lewis
Age: 21
Gender: Female

Physical description: She has dark brown hair that she keeps cut to about chin length. She has bangs with two long locks (that reach to her shoulders) framing her face. Her eyes are blue, and she has fairly pale skin. She has a short stature, averaging about 5'2". She has an average physique, not skinny but not obese. A general idea of something she might wear looks like this with these boots. This is only a general idea and can be altered in any way by the artist.

Personality: Around large groups, she tends to be rather quiet. She would rather spend time reading and writing or observing the world around her. She has terrible hand-eye coordination, so she never bothered playing sports, and she can be a bit clumsy at times. She has only a few friends, but she prefers having the few close, personal friends than tons of acquaintances that don't really know her.

History/background: Alice is the youngest of four children born to George and Elizabeth Lewis. George is a highly paid lawyer. He is a strict father, but he only wants his children to reach their full potential and become successful in life. Elizabeth was once a popular actress, performing leading roles in some of the most famous theaters. But she gave up her career after marrying George. While she loves acting, she doesn't miss the stage as much as she feared she would. She is a sweet and caring mother, providing support and encouragement for her children.

As a young child, Alice never displayed any great interests or talents the way her siblings did. Her parents were at a loss in which direction to push Alice as she seemed quite plain in comparison to her siblings. Nevertheless, Elizabeth encouraged Alice to find something that made her happy. All Alice knew was that she enjoyed reading. All the different stories fascinated her. In high school, she started writing out little short stories about characters that randomly popped into her mind.

She has three siblings. Her oldest brother Daniel always had an interest in law, like their father, but outside being forced to play out little courtroom dramas when they were children, Alice never really knew how to relate to him. Moments between them are usually awkward and filled with silence or with Daniel rambling about cases while Alice tries to find a way to escape. Eliot is the elder of the twins. While he went into a medical career, Alice finds it much easier to talk with him than Daniel. Other than their mother, Eliot is the only one to whom Alice feels comfortable talking about her stories.

Her sister Dakota always had a flair dramatics, often stealing the spotlight from others. Though Alice didn't really mind being in the shadows. Being popular wasn't something she cared all that much about. While others might have believed there was friction between the sisters, Alice got along fairly well with Dakota. They could talk about most things, especially female things that would have been awkward to talk about with Eliot. Alice would often help Dakota by modeling some of the clothes she designed. Although she doesn't care about paying attention to the latest trends, most of Alice's sense of style came from modeling for her sister.

Now at 21, Alice is working on writing her first full length novel while working part time and taking some college courses.

Why they applied: Alice has been a serious writer since high school. But this is the first time she is dedicating herself to a project as large and time consuming as a novel. She believes that attending the workshop will give her some tips and experience on how to accomplish her goal. She also thinks that by going to this workshop that it will show that writing is much more than a mere hobby for her to her family.

{ the character }

Name: Purnima
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Species: Fox spirit

Physical description: She has long black hair that reaches down to the small of her back. She stands at about 5'6" and has a slim physique. Her eyes are an eerie bright green, and she has dark tan skin. Her forearms have black fur on them, and her fingers have sharp claws. She has fangs. She has black fox ears atop her head and three black tails. This is a general idea for a top that she might wear (though the artist is welcome to play around with it). She generally wears pants but often doesn't bother with shoes. She also has a pair of daggers that she wears on belts about her waist.

Personality: She is a calm, graceful person. She tends to like being alone. But she can cooperate in a group when necessary, even if she doesn't quite like the people involved, though she might be a bit snappish and short if those people annoy her past frustration. But for the most part, she tries not to display her anger and annoyance, though sometimes that's difficult. She can seem quiet and indifferent, but she is very loyal once her trust has been gained.

History/Background: Purnima grew up in a clan with other fox spirits. But she never felt that she quite fit in with the rest of them. She was the only black one among the clan while the rest were all colored silver or yellow. This created some distance between her and them as they are proud of their silver and yellow coats and don't care to taint their lineage with a black coated fox. She was raised by the community after the clan leader refused to abandon a fellow fox spirit despite the color of her fur. But she always wondered who her real parents were. Why did they abandon her? Did they have a choice? Or did they meet with a terrible fate? The questions haunted her through her life, but the clan never could give her any real answers. She was never entirely sure if they honestly knew nothing about her parents or if they were hiding something.

When she was 19, Purnima finally decided it was time to depart from the clan. She wanted to learn the answers to all the questions that she had about her parents. But there was little information for her to find outside the clan, which annoyed and frustrated her.

Purnima could survive well enough in the wild. She had sharp claws and daggers to defend herself and to use for hunting. But she couldn't survive that way forever. Not if she wished to achieve her goals. She needed money to buy things. Like new clothes, especially when heavy snow fell in winter. Her daggers would need sharpening from time to time, and if they broke, she would need to buy new ones. She also discovered that some information could only be bought.

So Purnima did what came naturally to her: she stole. Like the rest of her kind, she was sly and sneaky, and she was very capable at stealth. By the time she was 23, she joined the Court of the Rogue. The Court could collect quite the wealth of information, but there wasn't much to learn about her parents. As time passed with no results, Purnima fell more into playing the thief's game than looking for her parents.

But in a matter of a few years, the thrill of the game started to lose its appeal. Friends were impossible to make among the members of the Court, and she had to watch her back for any betrayals. People's position in the Court changed daily with bribery and murder. Purnima began pondering leaving the Court, but she knew she couldn't walk out on the Court as simply as she had done with her clan. Once in the Court, the members belonged to it for life, according to the oldest members she had spoken to.

{ the story }

An outline of what sort of story your writer will begin in the workshop and live out as their characters. The elements involved, the challenges they will face, etc.

• Having long pondered how to leave the Court of the Rouge, Purnima slips up during one her heists and gets captured by the guards protecting the treasure.

• Instead of being thrown directly into a prison cell, Purnima was taken to meet with a strange man named Reginald. To her great surprise, he made no plans to arrest her and didn't ask for any information on the Court. Instead, he wanted to recruit her, deciding her skills would be useful to him. Purnima was skeptical, knowing too little to trust the man. But she also knew when an opportunity presented itself. She wanted out of the Court, and this was a better chance than any she could have thought up on her own.

• After she accepted the offer, Reginald explained her first task: retrieving the lost Scepter of Aathab. Even with his supposed resources, Reginald could provide only very limited information about the missing artifact.

• Purnima must hunt down any information she can gather about Aathab and his scepter in order to find the lost item. After bribing people for information doesn't pan out, she uses her skills as a thief to sneak into the royal archive to research information on Aathab.

• The only information that Purnima can really uncover about Aathab is the location of his tomb. It seems that while Aathab was a famous and powerful sorcerer, little of his life was ever recorded.

• Aathab's tomb is difficult to reach as it's guarded by spells to dissuade crypt robbers from stealing anything that might be inside it. To reach his tomb, Purnima will have to survive traps, solve riddles, and conquer dangerous beasts. After overcoming all the obstacles, Purnima discovers hardly anything of interest in the tomb. For the trouble, the only thing in the tomb is Aathab's coffin, and inside that, most likely, only the remains of Aathab. But the lid of the coffin has an interesting carving on it, almost resembling a map.

These are character who make appearances in the story Alice is writing about Purnima.

King of the Rouge : a greedy thief that rules over the Court of the Rouge. He rules cruelly and takes most of the profit for himself, though he does none of the work. Most of the Court hates him, but he has a loyal guard to protect him from any rebellion.

The King's Bodyguard : a tall man who has, for mysterious reasons, agreed to serve under the King of the Rouge. He wears an eye patch over his left eye and is considered one of the top swordsmen in the country.

Gilbert : an old beggar man, who looks weak and feeble. But he has quick hands, pocketing people's money with ease. He belongs to the Court of the Rouge.

Captain Stroman : a well built man who leads the guard of the city. He spends most of his free time trying to hunt down and outwit the members of the Court of the Rouge. He hopes to bring in the King of the Rouge before he retires.

Reginald Wolfe : a fairly rich man, able to bribe the city's guard to follow his commands when necessary. "He has short cropped brown hair with the softest touch of blond. His green eyes sparkled with an air of mystery." He hires Purnima to search for the lost Scepter of Aathab. Though she accepts the offer, Purnima doesn't quite trust the man.

{ the growth progress }

The Writer
Your character is arriving as they are in the real world - a regular old human being, their regular old self. Maybe they're fat, maybe they're skinny, maybe they're nerdy looking, or maybe they're tough stuff with a mohawk. one thing is for certain, they sure are excited to be at this workshop.

Writer > stage 1
Arrival rp [x]
2 journal entries or pds [x] in progress | [x] in progress
Complete Workshop [x]

Stage 1
Oh No! David Bowie was right - you're turning to face the strange with changes! Suddenly you're beginning to look and feel a little different. Maybe you're growing younger, or older. Maybe your hair is growing longer. Maybe you have wings, or scales, or teeth, or are feeling more bold, more vicious. One thing is for certain: you know you're not who you were the day before.

stage 1 > stage 2
2 journal entries
2 pd's
2 mini quests ( based on your story's plot)
growth quest

Stage 2
Some time has passed since you began your journey into being a fictitious character you yourself have created. Your changes have become more extensive. You're beginning to recognize yourself as the character you had envisioned for your novel, both physically, and to a degree mentally. Maybe you're having trouble remembering things, or maybe you're not. You're not that character yet, and your mannerisms may still be out of tune, or certain things not yet developed.

stage 2> stage 3
3 journal entries
3 pd's
3 mini quests ( based on your story's plot)
growth quest

Stage 3
You've done it! You've completed the story, and, consequentially, may finally understand Baenare's famous quote 'Write What You Know'. You are truly living the life of the character you created. Maybe you're a stunning prince charming, or a valiant knight, or an evil warlock /dragon. Your transformation has been completed, and you are now to be faced with the difficult decision of whether or not you wish to stay or wish to finally go home.
