What is Magick?
The definition for magick in Idril is: Magick – The command of hidden or supernatural forces. This control may be achieved through the use of spells, incantations, potions, amulets, magick-infused tomes or scrolls, divination, and prayer to particular gods and goddesses.
How do you use Magick?
As stated above, magick can be used through spells, incantations, potions, amulets, magick-infused tomes or scrolls, divination, and prayer to particular gods and goddesses. How you use it is up to you.
Who can use Magick?
Pretty much anyone. However, not everyone is born with the natural ability to use magick. There are those that are born with a heavy dose of magick already in their blood, so magick comes a lot easier to these kinds of people. I’ll get around to listing which species are naturally born with magick (as well as which types of magick) and I’ll also list those who are not born with it but possess the ability to learn.
What Types of Magick are There?
There are endless types of magick. Still, most of them are known. The main 13 magick types are: fire, water, ice, shadow, blood, wind, illusionary, earth, light, lightning, divinatory, prophetic, and astral. The many types of magick are split into three different categories of holy, underworld, and anima magicks. Listed below is where the main 13 magick types stand in these categories.
Anima Magicks – fire, water, ice, wind, earth, and lightning
Holy Magicks – light, astral, divinatory, and prophetic
Underworld Magicks – shadow, blood, and illusionary
There are many other lesser magick types that can be learned from specific gods or even natural spirits of the world. All of the lesser magicks are obviously weaker and much less is known about them.
What is Magick Used For?
Magick is and can be used for anything and everything. It can be used to harm, to heal, to clean, to create, to destroy, etc. Most people use magick as a defensive measure while some may use it to harm others. Then there are those that may use magick as a part of every day life in order to clean up around the house or help plants grow faster and healthier. There are even those that use magick for profit, such as those who use divinatory magick. Since magick is so common, it isn’t unheard of for almost anyone to use it for any kind of reason. It is viewed as just another aspect of life, as normal as reading, writing, and art. Not everyone has a taste for it, but anyone can do it.

Those Who are Born With it…Here is a list of the species that are born with magick:
All lesser spirits Angels (this also covers Devils) Demons Dragons Navnlos Seasons Vampires Those Who Must Learn. Here is a list of the species that must learn to use magick. This can be done by choosing to worship a particular god or goddess and praying (literally) that they see you as worthy enough to accept the gift of magick from them; or it can be learned by capturing certain lesser spirits and asking (or threatening) them to teach you their way of magick.

Definition of Magick TypesIf you’re curious about what each magick specifically does then this is where to find out. Mind you, this only covers the main 13 magick types.
Astral – Granted only by Evold, Goddess of the Stars, Astral magick is control over spells that gain their power from the stars. This magick is used through incantations, potions, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is a Holy Magick that has great power in healing and can also cause great damage to a dark being or a user of Underworld Magick.
Blood – Vampires (and those of Vampyri heritage) are born with this type of magick. If not of Vampyri blood, this magick can be learned from Helshive, the God of Blood. Blood magick is control over the blood of the body. Novice users can only use their own blood (through the use of a focus object such as a tome, wand, staff, or weapon) while more experienced users are able to use their blood as well as the blood of another (when using their own blood they can use incantations and potions, as well as a focus object; if they are using the blood of another they can only use potions; if they are taking the blood of another by force, then they can use that blood with the aid of a focus object, preferably a blade of some kind). It is an Underworld Magick that has a use for causing physical ailments (such as a sleeping sickness, poison, or even paralysis) and can also cause great damage to natural spirits or a user of Anima Magick.
Divinatory – This particular magick can be granted by any one of the gods or goddesses. However, it depends on which god or goddess that this gift is received from what sort of visions will be granted. If gifted by Baereln (God of Fire and Destruction), the visions will be only of acts of violence or certain fiery natural disasters; if gifted by Demil (Goddess of Dreams and Courage), the visions will be of happy and joyous occasions, as well as acts of great bravery. Divinatory magick is the channeling of supernatural forces that grant the user magickal insight to certain situations. This magick is used through focus tools such as mirrors, crystal balls, cards, runes, or bones. It is a passive form of Holy magick that cannot be used to harm or heal anyone.
Earth – Spirits born of the Earth naturally channel this magick. It can be learned either by capturing a Spirit of the Earth or by praying to Cirel, the Goddess of the Earth. Earth magick is the physical control over the element of earth. This magick is used through incantations, potions, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Anima Magick that has great power in dealing physical damage and can cause great damage to a user of Holy Magick.
Fire – Spirits born of Fire naturally channel this magick. It can be learned either by capturing a Spirit of Fire or by praying to either Baereln (God of Fire and Destruction) or Sudina (Sun Goddess). Fire magick is the physical control over the element of fire. This magick is used through incantations, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Anima Magick that has great power in dealing long-lasting damage and can cause great damage to a user of Holy Magick.
Ice – Spirits born of Ice naturally channel this magick. It can be learned either by capturing a Spirit of Ice or by praying to Ferehn, God of Ice and Snow. Ice magick is the physical control over the element of ice. This magick is used through incantations, potions, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Anima Magick that has great power in dealing long-lasting damage and can cause great damage to a user of Holy Magick.
Illusionary – Navnlos and some Vampires (for Vampires the magick only shows up randomly through bloodlines and is considerably weaker than in that of a Navnlos) are born with this type of magick. If not of Navnlos (or Vampyri) blood, this can be learned by Dereshvol, God of Deception and Illusions. Illusionary magick is the ability to create illusions in the minds of others. This magick is used through incantations or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Underworld Magick that has a use for causing visions (either visions of joy to distract someone or visions of terror to incapacitate them). It is a passive form of Underworld magick that cannot be used to physically harm or heal anyone, but the mental damage it deals is seldom undone.
Light – Angels (this includes Devils) are born with this type of magick. If not of Angelic blood, this magick can be learned from Talithea, the Goddess of Light. Light magick is control over spells that gain their power from light in any of its forms (light of day, of the moon, light from a fire, etc.). This magick is used through incantations, potions, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is a Holy Magick that has great power in healing and can also cause great damage to a dark being or a user of Underworld Magick.
Lightning – Spirits born of Lightning naturally channel this magick. It can be learned either by capturing a Spirit of Lightning or by praying to Aisheru (God of Storms and the Sky). Lightning magick is the physical control over the element of lightning. This magick is used through incantations, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Anima Magick that has great power in dealing physical damage and can cause great damage to a user of Holy Magick.
Prophetic – This particular magick can be granted by any one of the gods or goddesses. Unlike Divinatory magick, Prophetic magick’s visions are obtained entirely by chance, uncontrollable, and have no set theme. Prophetic magick is the ability to obtain visions of the future by channeling the power of the god or goddess that grants the ability. This magick is the only one that cannot be controlled in any way. It is a passive form of Holy magick that cannot be used to harm or heal anyone.
Shadow – Navnlos (and those of royal Vampyri heritage) are born with this type of magick. If not of Navnlos (or royal Vampyri) blood, this magick can be learned from Valencis, the God of Darkness. Shadow magick is control over the darkness at night and shadows in the day. This magick is used through incantations (either verbal or mental) or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Underworld Magick that has a use for slipping through the shadows to travel and can also cause great damage to natural spirits or a user of Anima Magick.
Water – Spirits born of the Water naturally channel this magick. It can be learned either by capturing a Spirit of the Water or by praying to Cyarth (Goddess of Water and Grace) or Jiorane (God of the Ocean and Music). Water magick is the physical control over the element of water. This magick is used through incantations, potions, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Anima Magick that has great power in causing physical ailments (poison and many sicknesses) and can cause great damage to a user of Holy Magick.
Wind – Spirits born of the Wind naturally channel this magick. It can be learned either by capturing a Spirit of the Wind or by praying to Nvidia, the God of Wind. Wind magick is the physical control over the element of wind. This magick is used through incantations, potions, talismans, or a focus object such as a wand, staff, or weapon. It is an Anima Magick that has great power in causing physical ailments (such as stiffness of the limbs or paralysis) and can cause great damage to a user of Holy Magick.

Follow Up I hope that this cleared up certain things concerning magick. Especially since I just spent three straight hours on it to get it done by request. XD Anyway, if anyone has any questions, just post them here and when I notice them I’ll respond to them here in this post by quoting your question and posting my answer. ^_^
