((The actually cub rp takes place approximately 10 days after Uko's funeral))

Kabusha had never had an easy life, it was always filled with hard choices and painful regrets. She had let her first sister-in-law die by a stupid mistake, a mistake she vowed that she would never make again. Fate had other ideas, and again she awoke to the devastating news her sister, her best friend was gone, but this time she left behind three precious gifts. Had she been there, she knew she might have been able to save Uko, but it was too late and all that mattered where the three cubs.

Before the dawn even touched the sky, Kabu had herded her own cubs to the care of her brother Unus knowing he would protect them, as she followed one of the females to the den where Uko had given birth. Her heart leapt at the sight of her two nieces and her tiny nephew. Nodding her head to the lioness, Kabu crawled into the den, curling protectively around her new charges.

-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Kabu made a low, soft grumbling sound as she nudged the three rambincious cubs from the den that had been their safe home. How she had longed to speak to the little ones, but honor and duty stilled her tongue for till she could present them to the pride and to their father. Herding them slowly and carefully, the dark lioness began the trip back towards the pride lines.

She was eager to see her own cubs, but these little ones had become as dear to her as her own and her heart broke that they might feel betrayed when they learned she was not their mother, only their Aunt who loved them with all her heart. Her violet eyes darkened with sadness at the though, but no matter what she would always be there for her cubs...all of them.

Pink eyes where opened and observant from her hiding place between her aunts legs. She was scared and nervous she was the first to have meet the world and in her first moments she had heard so many odd things that would not leave her mind. She rested her head against Kabu's leg looking to to her. The little lioness had yet to speak course she grunted and purred but that was all you would hear from her.

She then looked back to her brother a sister nervous. She didn't like playing with the much she was a loner for now. She hide things from others such as not letting them know when she was hunger till her body told others. she didn't see the point really she never felt to hungry. She then looked back to her aunt thinking she was her mother she smelt close to her so why not?

The sandy colored male poked his head out of the den. He was the smallest cub of the litter, the only son, and he was born with his mother’s pelt and a tuft of dark blue fur, the beginnings of a mane that one day might resemble his father. As he climbed out of the den the swamp chirped and cawed, the sky sent a bright beam of sunlight straight into his young eyes. He flattened his ears and moved closer to Kabu.

This was the first long walk of his life, his first time out of the den, though he did not know yet where they were going. The world rose up to greet him and he met it with distrust. He paused by Kabu’s front paw and looked back at his sisters. In some ways he was bolder than them, always the first to test new boundaries, but he never wandered far from his aunt either.

As far as he knew, they four, his two older sisters and Kabu, who may as well have been his own mother, were the only lions in the entire world.

Piliroho kwa Kwini was well-used to this process by now. She'd seen it - and participated it in - for many generations. She was also well aware that it was pure superstition, but that was a little soemthing she'd be keeping to herself. if Asali wanted to perpetuate all the spirit business (whenever she returned), that was her call. Pili was now just along for the ride. She'd never attended anyone else's cubs - much less with two other lionesses - but she certainly understood why Nari had insisted that all three of them stay with the cubs. There was no knowing who or what had killed Ukosa, and they were safer staying together. She slipped from the den as well, and Shishi came behind her.

The second girl toddled from the den with her siblings, blinking her blue eyes at the light that filtered down through the trees. It was brighter out here than it had been in the den, and bigger. She'd never realized the world had so much room in it! She surveyed the scenery with wide-eyed curiosity, but was careful to keep up.

Kabu chuckled softly as she herded the little ones back towards the pride. The two lionesses that had stayed with her had been a soothing balm to her nerves. These days safety was defiantly found in numbers. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts and focus on the task at hand, Kabu made a soft rumbling sound to comfort the little ones even as they approached the gathered lions.

Her violet eyes immediately sought out her brother, purring softly as she nudged the three cubs forward for him to see. It would be heartbreaking for him, she knew, but they were his offspring and part of Uko.

"Jitimai," She purred nuzzling the white and blue female that looked so much like her father. "Imbali." The little white female looked like a reversal of her departed mother. Finally she nudges the tiny male forward, her voice rumbling with love for all three of them, " Wahadi."

Unfortunately they would not see the male there. Kabu noticed her cubs and was probably over joyed to get to see them again but as for the male that was the father of the innocent three cubs that she was now showing to the pride.

Imbali looked up to her 'mother' confused tilting her head. She then began to move from her feet as she looked at the slightly larger cubs that where eager to see them. She tilted his head as she watched them her tail flicked behind her curiously.

She edged a bit closer to them as she sniffed them before sneezing and rushing back to hide under Kabu's legs shaking a little as if scared and confused. she closed her eyes tightly as she leaned into her 'mothers' leg. She scared scared of what she smelt...they the cubs smelt just like her mother where she only smelt faintly of her. She was very confused.

The sandy male gaped at the assembly of lions, his fur standing on end. Who were they? What did they want? He feared them for reasons he couldn’t understand. Yet Kabu kept moving towards them, even when he started to slow down. Looking up at her, seeing the pride and calm assurance of her expression soothed his nerves a bit, though he stuck close to her side until she nuzzled him forward.

A cold chill ran down his little spine as he was pushed to the fore. Kabu said something when she pushed him forward, something that made him take his eyes off the others and look back at her. Wahadi, she said. If he had been paying attention he would have noticed she did the same thing with his sisters. Wahadi. Interesting, but not as interesting as the other lions. His head snapped around to look at them. He watched nervously as his sister went towards them and darted back under Kabu. They didn’t seem to want to hurt her. He took two steps toward them, paused and glanced back at his surrogate mother, seeking reassurance.

When Kabushi had finished naming the cubs, Piliroho threw back her head and roared three times, to make it 'official,' as it were. That done, she made her way over to Nari, who was visibly relieved to see them all back. He did not look happy, though. No, he still had many other things to worry about, and it shower. The lioness bumped her head under his chin and sat beside him.

Why were they scared? Sure, some of these strangers were awfully big and awfully hairy, but a lot of them looked just like Kabushi, Pili, and Shishi. Just in different colors. Quite unafraid, she nudged Imbali and Wahadi and toddled farther forward.

Kabu made a soft rumbling/growl as she looked about for Unus. How dare he disregard the children he had made with Uko! These cubs where precious gifts. Shaking her head again she purred as her own cubs raced towards her. "Children these are your siblings now." Her eyes were bright as she gazed at all eight of 'her' cubs.

Tana beamed as he saw little Wahadi, prancing over to the little male. "Hi little brother!" His siblings may not be overjoyed to share their mother, but Tana didn't mind in the least. He licked the other small male's forehead, his gold eyes bright. "We are gonna be best friends!"

He watched the cubs with something of envy, but didn't step forward to meet his new 'family'. He didn't like the fact that they craved his mothers attention when he knew they weren't hers. It made his blood boil to think that his mother had pushed him aside to be with the cubs, and he had to go stay with his uncle; whom he didn't really know.

Family trademark pink eyes watched them and saw how happy his mother was with those cubs, then felt even more betrayed as Tana stepped forward and greeted them with no qualms. He wouldn't stay here to long. If his mother didn't spot him, he' would end up slinking back to his uncles den and go back to sleep. Dusan knew where he wasn't needed anymore. To see his mother happy like, and not from her own cubs. It broke something in him. Yes, he knew his aunt was dead and someone needed to take care of the cubs, but why his mother?

So he waited, not up front with the rest, but in the back, hidden away to make his escape.

A heavy sigh came from within the wood Unus knew today his heart would surely break or mend completely. He interestingly colored eyes shut tightly as he thought of his Ukosa. The female that said wouldn't leave him that would stay beside him.

He then began to think about her brother funeral on their talk about her dieing. He froze in fear...had she known it was coming? Was she preparing him for the future of being alone in heart ache and saying things like
'Unus... when the spirits call me...' And when she said... 'I want you to know, I just want you to be happy.'

He looked to the sky glaring at it as he stood up slowly before letting out a loud pained roar one that all three cubs would hear and no doubt be fearful of it sounded so much different from the other roar's.

"They...do not deserve me yet...nor do I them." He spoke to the wind as he moved to where he first meet his Ukosa curling up at the waters edge before standing abruptly as he ran off quickly dashing off somewhere like he had a purpose.

Imbali looked over noticing something odd...one of the cubs that she was being FORCED to be with was looking like he rather much not wanted to be there either she tilted her head cutely to one side giving him a innocently little puppy dog expression as she began to move toward the cub. She opened her mouth to say something only to shut in shame.

It came apparent at a young age of the still rather young cub she could not speak other then grumps and growls she had never once roar though but she was still young for that so there was some hope possible?

She began to move closer to the cub something about him he felt almost like a kindred spirit to her. She got before him looking cute as she moved a little closer before falling tripping over a root and landing between his feet her cute face smooshed against his chest. She blushed a little before her eyes looking up to him as she slowly pulled away.

She smiled just a little as she let out a little grump before pawing as his soft chest. He was nice a warm and FURRY! something she hadn't quite com across yet she hadn't caught on yet that males grew to have stunning manes and that this one here that was so strange and so blue like everyone....everyone else but her. Her eyes widened in fear as she realized she...was without blue.

The roars of the crowd shook his chest like an earthquake. He fell back a step, looking around, ears perked and eyes wide. What a sound! Maybe he could make a noise like that one day, too?

Just then...

Wahadi gawked at the older cub. Boy was he loud! Then Tana gave him a sloppy lick. Wahadi shook himself in disgust and grimaced. He glared at Tana and tried to pounce on him, even though Tana was larger.

Kabu's head snapped up at the loud roar, looking around sharply for a threat before relaxing a bit. Whoever it was would be a fool to attack with all the lions gathered. She smiled gently looking at all her children, her violet eyes worried as she looked at Dusan. What was ailing the boy? He was her little man, the one that always helped her.

Tana laughed happily when the runt attacked him, letting him shove him about. He remembered how much it sucked to be the smallest around. "I am your brother Tana."

Something came near him and he growled at it before turning to see the white female. He shuffled away from her every time she got even closer. He wanted nothing to do with these cubs. They were just... in the way of everything. They took his mother away right when he wanted her the most, now he felt nearly detached from her.

When she opened her mouth and nothing came out, Dusan arched a brow curiously before hissing at her. She'd fallen into him and apparently wanted to play? What the hell was she thinking? He backed away, tripping over someone's feet and then growled again, baring his teeth. Glancing back at the female, his tail twitched annoyed. Why did she look so lost and sad now? What did he really care?

His head turned to his mother before he rose to his paws again and shuffled further away from the group, from the little mute female who was trying so hard to seek his attention.

Wahadi had a killer instinct. When he couldn't topple him he wrapped his arms around his neck and gnawed on the tan cub's throat. He was too little to do any damage. Tana didn't even suffer mild discomfort. Wahadi wasn't even sure why he went for the throat, let alone aware of the consequences of attacking the jugular. It just seemed like a good spot to latch onto. He growled softly, peering up into his eyes.

He wasn't fighting back? Did he forfeit? Guess so.

Wahadi let go of his neck. With his paws on Tana’s shoulder, Wahadi balanced on his hind legs and looked the cub in the eyes, scrutinizing him. “Brudda? Tata?”

Others were just starting to talk to him, but he seemed to be catching on quickly.
