I heard in an episode that Katara could sure it with spirit water of the oasis of the north pole......do you think Zuko could actually be free from his scar ?

That was only speculation on her part. She said she would try because the water is mystical in nature. Personally I don't believe it would be rid of it, spirit water or not. It's a scar, not a fresh wound, there is nothing to heal.

A scar is still wounded flesh though. Just because it's not fresh doesn't mean there's nothing to heal. I think it more likely that she'd just be able to lessen it, make it less severe but not be able to get rid of it altogether. I'm sure such deep and wide spread tissue damage probably causes him some pain and the water should be able to at least take care of that. And maybe give him the full use of his eye back, it can't be comfortable or easy to see with an eye that has such unusable lids.

I think it would work because if it can bring someone back to life I think it should be able to remove a scar, but if it wouldn't work I would be ok with that because aang still has a scar on his back and foot.

Well, yeah. Because he was dead, therefore his soul could be retrieved, I would assume. Nanenna, you're not very familiar with burns, are you? My cousin was in a house fire when he was very young, he had about 80% of his body covered in burn scars from it. He goes in to get skin grafts when he needs them, but other than that he is completely functional. Even with burns as severe as he has, they cause him not pain, except when he cuts himself his skin takes a long a** time to heal, but that doesn't bother him.

You're right, I'm not familiar with burn scars. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin! Hm... so it wouldn't cause Zuko pain. I still can't help but think that at least his eye lids should get some attention, it may only be a minor inconvenience but he obviously has trouble with his scared lids. If nothing else getting the full use of his eye back would be worth trying.

Agreed on this instance.

Before you read, I'll just say that I have no experience with burns and therefore, my hypothesis may be wrong.

Well, the oasis water is obviously extremely powerful. (It healed a lightning wound and practically brought Aang back from the dead, for Avatar's sake!!) I can certainly see *some* sort of healing going on, but I don't know that the scar would be gone completely. My hypothesis would be that there would be a faint imprint on his face; it wouldn't be brilliantly red like it is now, but it certainly wouldn't be back to normal. And maybe his eye would open a bit more.

But you have to think about the symbolism. Without the scar, Zuko's just another firebending prince with a GPS-challenged mother, a crazy sister, and oppressive father. If his father hadn't been the one to give Zuko his scar, I'm sure Azula would have done it anyway.

He's young. The scar is relatively fresh.
It'd fade in time anyway.

I agree wtih you. I dont think the water could work by itself. Maybe if you remove the scar tissue and use the water to grow new skin, but the damage had been done, but i'll fade as e gets older.

It healed Aang of the lightning but he still got a scar so I think no.

UPDATE! I was listening to the behind the scenes commentary on the boxed set DVDBook 2: Earth and in Lake Laogai and they said in order for the spirit water to work you need a spiritual connection otherwise it would just be water so Zuko's scar would be "a little better" but not healed.

so your saying that there are different types of spiritual water? and it might work a bit with all of them used in one ?
