Which bomb system do you prefer? Bombs that you singularly collect (like in Imperishable Night) or bombs that use up your attack power (like in Subterranean Animism). I prefer bombs that are collected seperately because using those don't weaken your normal attacks. What's your opinion on this?

I think most people are going to go with the individual bombs, since they overall help you get through a LOT better than power-bombs. It's not as bad for MoF, since that's one of the easier games, but SA suffers from above average difficulty, lower damage shots that decrease further as you bomb, and much lower damage bombs, including a few that are almost entirely defensive.

Of course, this also means that you get significantly more bombs available for use in SA, but it's going to be hard to take advantage of them unless you're good at planning your game. Right now I'm working (read: failing) SA Normal, and have more or less decided the best places for me to bomb through the first four stages (though I'm still a bit shaky on Stage 3 and Satori). One example is the green-card spam death fairy that appears right before Satori shows up, grants a full 1.00 power when you kill it, so you can basically just blast it as soon as it comes out and then grab your spoils, nothing lost.

I'm usually too busy trying to not die to pay attention to what's getting dropped at parts like that. I really need to find more time to play.

Bomb power. : ]

It just makes more sense to me. Either that, bombs shouldn't be considered bombs, but spell cards instead then the itemization of such would make sense. Either way, it drains the character's physical power...So yeah. xD

They are supposed to be individual spell cards, but most shooting game terminology calls it a bomb, but if you insist on me saying spell card, I'll say spell card from now on. I'll start by changing the title of this thread.

Seperate bombs.
It just... I dunno, just feels better. Maybe because the first games I played and fell in love with (EoSD, PCB) had them.

I wouldn't mind if they did the Power Bomb system for EoSD or PCB. xD

And I didn't start playing Touhou because I thought it was easy -- I started because I thought it was difficult. For me to pick one system over another because it's easier would be lunacy and not lunatic-mode. Sure, power-dependent bombing has other factors, but it's not like they're hard to consider either.

It's not like Patchy doing rocket science or dividing by zero.

Separate. I like having unique-looking Spell Cards, rather than just a circular field thingy.

Also, Power-Bombing is actually easier if you ask me. You can keep firing invincibility blasts by keeping your power up, which I never find difficult to accomplish. Separate bombs are harder, since you have to rely on a set amount, and can only get more by collecting items.

I shouldn't be posting now but whatever
I like em' separate, because bombing wouldn't hinder my power. I cannot think how hard would Shou be with MoF's system.

It seems that the power system is better in theory during the stage, while the separate items system is more suitable for boss battle where the power item supply is limited.

Also, the power system would fail greatly if the old POC system was used with it, where you had to have full power to utilize it.

Now if there was a slowly replenishing bomb guage...

I like power. Especially, on the power part, where you have SA Marisa...A I think. With the dolls. Yeah, 8.00 power.
@Yuki:: Hey, SA's bombs were unique. You got a flashy thing where your sprite turns void, you got five multicolored rings of Sanae extra midboss glitch killing justice, you got a little soundwave circle, you got...
