I wrote this after I moved down town and I fell in love with a guy who could play guitar...it never worked out, but it inspired this song.
It would be sang in a sweet yet longing harmony set to an acoustic guitar
I sat with you and watched the western sky set fire,
On a shore close to the city I knew as home.
I never thought I could love you,
I never wanted it this way.
And as the sun sank further into the waning day,
I let escape me all the right things to say.
Chorus:
Go on and take me,
I’ll give you all the things you want.
In the morning light,
This will all look different,
Hardly worth the fight.
Speak to me in poetry,
Paint me what you feel.
If the world stopped spinning
Would you believe that I am real?
I sat with you and watched the western sky set fire,
On a shore close to the city I knew as home.
I never thought I could love you,
I never wanted it this way.
And as the sun sank further into the waning day,
I let escape me all the right things to say.
Chorus:
Go on and take me,
You’ll never be alone.
Will pull up stakes and travel.
Let the world be our home.
I’ll speak to you in poetry,
I will paint you what I feel.
I’ve got a life time,
To prove to you I am real.
I sat with you and watched the western sky set fire,
On a shore close to the city I knew has home.
I never felt so alive or ever this alone.
