"Ain't no room for tears in this man's Army."
User Image

The desolate remains of what was once a part of soul society. It was set a flame in a hollow attack many years ago. The smoke still flows out from the caves below.

A place of training and reflection for Kusari. There is the burnt houses, an open field with a large fissure leading to the burning mines and a light patch of forest just past that. The landscape is as different as the phases of Kusari's life.

Kusari ran in in an attempt at shunpo. A failed attempt. As his speed momentarily increased, his balance shifted forward and he fell, but being the acrobat that he was he caught himself with his gauntlet covered left hand on the ground and he sprung himself back to his feet before calmly exiting the forest. Thank the gods that he had taken the back way. He began reciting the incantations for the Kagedo he had learned from the nameless stranger, digging the gauntlets claws into his skin every time he stalled or stuttered on a word.

He was a half hour early, as he liked to be whenever possible.

Kusari continued his incantations in the middle of the grounds, near the fissure, now speaking out loud. "On the wall of my heart, inscribe a five-pronged seal. On the face of oblivion, create a path to the light." The shadow spread outwards, although smaller than the usual because he willed it so. Becoming slightly more ballsy he tried to use a higher level Kagedo while he waited for the instructor that another squad member had referred him to. "Confusion and chaos. On the mask of the world open a door. In the rooms of the night, make me a bed." Kusari vanished from sight and remained as still as the mantis as he awaited his training.

Kusari began to sink back into the world of Kokuangyo. He was surrounded by a thick black liquid, and yet he could see well enough to see the spots of red within it. He thought back to when he first arrived in this odd sanctum and how he panicked at the idea of not being able to move in this thick goo. He honestly believed he was drowning when it happened and as the panic and fear mounted that giant serpents eyes flashed before him and a second later he was being constrained by the beast.

Back when he first released his shikai he had been disappointed at the english double sword that had appeared. The european piece of crap was difficult and awkward to wield, and had it not been for the discovery of its hidden chain later on in that fight he very well may have forsaken that damned blade, but the chain gave Kokuangyo its appeal. It became everything that Kusari was the moment it bared its teeth. He remembered the moment well.

Kusari had driven his blade into the gillians skull, he was weak and the gillian had just called in its friends. The original plan was to remove the blade and attack the next menos, but instead the blade remained implanted in the hard white skull of the hollow behind him as he leaped to the next and drove the second blade into it before the chain began to withdraw and crashed the two hollows into each other. The other three were quickly dispatched in a similar method before an adjuchas called for the attention of the four shinigami present.

He had yet to be so proud as that day, and had since taken comfort in the realm of the Bringer Of Darkness. He felt like a babe submerged in amniotic fluid. Nothing could harm him. The world was at peace. A pulse shot through the liquid as the great serpents belly lifted Kusari to the lone island in Kokuangyo's world, and a familiar face stared down at him.

"Hahahahaha The little human wants to become stronger. Tell me, do you still consider yourself a master swordsman? Hahahaha" The laughter was deep and seemed to ring throughout Kusari's body. "Or is that why you are learning other techniques boy? Am I not strong enough for the almighty Kusari? Hahahahaha."

Kusari stumbled to his feet, the goo was very real in this world, a very heavy. "No Kokuangyo, and your jokes do not amuse me. You saw what those demons did to ..."

"Hahahaha Demons!? You call those pathetic fools demons? They may be all mighty in the realm of shadow, but remove them from that and they have nothing."

"They sealed you Kokuyangyo, and I cannot risk that happening again. There are many shinigami arts I need to learn before I can truly master your pow ..."

"Hahahahah You will never master the great leviathan of darkness boy, you are far to weak, and that will never change."

"But it will change, and I will master you one day. I gave you my blood on that promise."

"A murderers blood is merely a snack for the moment, it is neither delectable or fulfilling. Prove it to me and come back when your stronger."

Kusari was thrown from Kokuangyo's world and left to contimplate the thought of who his instructor could be.

Flash Stepping into the hard blowing, grit filled wind, Mikhail held his forearm up to shiled his sightless eyes against the raging sand storm. Locking in on his Padawan for the day, Mikhail Shunpoed across the desolate plains and before his student. "Kusari." Bowing his head in respect and speaking in a stern formal tone, he intented on catching the attention of his unalert Shinigami trainee. Putting his arm down, Mikhail created a strong field of reiatsu around him that blocked the large grains of sand from entering his "buble". This kept sand out of his eyes and off of his clothes. Safely within his little void, Mikhail awaited an addressment from Kusari so that their training might start.

Kusari moved, releasing the kagedo, which had apparently not been effective. He disbanded the shroud of darkness as well and took to his feet. "Das hängt ab, wer fragt. Russe." His voice sounded exhasted and annoyed with distinct dictation in every word, "But I would never judge a single sheep just because the rest of the flock has disappointed me." Kusari finally opened his eyes and said, "For the time being, it is an honor to be your student sir, lets hope that you are a credit to your kind." His opinion of the russians had been rather low ever since they pulled out of the war early when he had been alive. Since then their country merely rotted in poverty and merely discussed the future rather than act to change it. They were weak for such mighty men, and it was a rather disappointing sight to see. Kusari could only hope that this man would be the one to break the stereotype, and if he didn't then this meeting would be a waste of Kusari's time.
"I am already rather good at defensive swordplay, so I believe steel style would be adequate in due time, but flash style would both cover my flaws and better me as a shinigami, so I believe it would be the best option for me. Unless I could train under both styles at the same time Taicho." This captain seemed to be more deserving of respect that the previous vaizard captain that he had had the misfortune to meet, and thus would be given respect until proven otherwise.
"I have been training in the art of the flash step, but I seem to have trouble keeping my balance during the increase of speed, and when I focus on my balance I have a tenancy to trip over stray wooddrift and such." He realized he had forgotten to bow and quickly gave a courtesy bow. "Forgive my rudeness captain." He rose and let down the top of his robes to reveal his masses of scars among his black tanktop before thrusting the finger of the gauntlet into his shoulders to make a new scar. "Yeeesssssss." He inhaled quickly and held his breaths the pain of his self punishment set in and after a moment he released his breath and re-dawned his robes over the bleeding wound as his stood up to attention and said, "I have punished myself for my insolence and it shall not happen again Captain. I pray that you will forgive me in due time for my disrespect and forgetfulness." He quickly bowed again and carried on as if nothing out of the ordinary had just happened.

Frowning a little, Mikhail had heard his insinuations of self dicipline but he could not see the scars for his own lack of sight and self punishment. "I'll tell that scolding yourself for your mishaps is the stupidest thing one could do. I know from experience and I know for a fact that nothing good comes from it." Flash Stepping about Kusari stopping for brief moments at each of the four cardinal directions. North. South. East. And finally West. He'd cease his instantaneous movement for but single seconds simply in order to demonstrate how fast ones body could move. "Shunpo is simple and easy for anyone with half a brain and concept of what it is." Taking a second for that to sink in, he continued his near fast as light movements. "Lesson 1: If you can conceive it, you can accomplish it."

Standing directly in front of Kusari, Mikhail stopped all movement and proposed what he was going to teach. "Flash Style is quick. Faster than the eye can see. The training is simple. All that is required is that you simply localize your Shunpo into a single area in order to boost your normal reflexes." Using a Flash Step like ability, Mikhail's hand shot out at Kusari's face, instantly appearing cenimeters before his cheek bone. "You'll find that all your reflexes and muscles will react millionths of seconds faster. That is the foundation of Flash Style."

Each side of Kusari's mouth seemed to go in a seperate direction as he heard his teachers words. "I understand Taicho. I shall not punish myself in your presence ever again." He watched as the hand disappeared and reappeared before him moments later. 'This russian is not giving up as of yet, and I do honestly believe he has the potential to kill me despite his lack of sight.' "I've attempted to experiment with similar motions before Taicho, it is merely the act of running while flash stepping that is my downfall, jumping and kicking is easily achieved. If I may demonstrate I will show you the extent of my abilities."

((Assuming you say yes, ignore it otherwise, but this post was to short for my me to post as is.))

Kusari closed his eyes and focused, taking in the lay of the land in his mind before opening them again and quickly flipping backwards and planting one hand firmly into the ground before the second hand followed it to balance himself before his left foot hit the ground to launch him upwards, at which point his speed increased threefold as his body turned over twice before sending his right foot downward heel first. the anticipation oly built up for a second before landing and submerging the foot into the dried out ground up to the ankle. The left foot launched him from the hole as he flipped to the side and landed a few steps behind where he had began.
"Its sloppy as far as impact, but the momentum and speed created a rather strong impact." He had not impressed himself, but Kusari was Kusai's hardest judge. "I have a rather athletic build and a very flexible body, which contribute to some acrobatic moves, but as I said Taicho, my shunpo is nowhere near your level."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 25, 2009 5:51 pm

Tapping his chin, Mikhail listened to the movements. "As you said, sloppy. Too showy as well." Tapping his chin with his own hand, he listened to Kusari speak. He seemingly understood what he had to do but his imagination faultered. While he was imaginative enough to create an attack as the one he'd just demonstrated, the constraints he put on his own potential hindered his prowess. "Very few can keep up to my Shunpo. I'm not being cocky but when you've developed Hakuda that can move at the speed of light and infuse the power of the elements one can only assume that they've achieved the highest level of anyone." Shifting his weight on his feet, Mikhail tucked his hand into the pocket of his Haori and sighed. "There is really no way to teach someone other than demonstrating it to them. If you're up to it, go ahead and make the first attack."

Reflecting back to the very day he'd developed this Flash Style Hakuda. It'd been a hot humid day, Mikhail and the formerly lively Sou-Taichou had decided to test the ability of the possible Division 2 candidate. Ingaging in a series of hard hitting, serious, bone shattering blows, Mikhail had bested his greatest friend in hand-to-hand combat. He'd not only infused each of his strikes with an element and power of unheard proportions. All of the currently developed Hakuda had been demonstrated that day. The Sou-Taichou had no decision other than to promote him and intigrate the powerful Hakuda as that of the 2nd Divisions. Those happy, care-free days brought a warm hearted and rarely expressed smile.

"Aye Sir." kusari jumped backwards before coming toward Mikhail full speed and breaking into a flash step for a moment before dropping to the ground and sweeping beneath Mikhail with his foot in an attempt to divert his focus or trip him before popping up to deliver an uppercut to the captains chin knowing full well that he had been doomed fro the start and yet still feelint the guilt of attacking a blind man.

As Kusari launched his assault the words of his father echoed in his ear. They were part of the only memory he had of the old man. 'Leave your enemy with no room for an opening and then you will succeed, but the moment they get a chance to fight back the odds of the fight will change.' These words had always been the foundation of Kusari's current fighting style. The move he had used on Mihkail was meant to be used with the blade hidden in his shoe in order to cut the shins of his opponent open and allow him to worry about other matters.

((Please disregard my blatant godmod(s). I intend for them to be non lethal and just to further your training. All of it will be justly.))

Feeling the vibrations from the movements of Kusari within the air, Mikhail plotted the course of his strike. Slamming his foot down upon the leg that meant to sweep his own out from under him, Mikhail then grasped the arm of his student and contorted it to such a severe angle that he quickly assumed control of the limb. With his expertice in the human body, he was more then capable of controlling the limbs of his opponent. "I can't see. Which means I don't rely on my sight to judge where ones intended path of strike to know when and where it will come. I feel it and sense it with every nerve ending in my body. Speaking sternly, he Shunpoed a meter off to his left and nodded at Kusari. "Please, try again. This time, seclude your Shunpo to a single muscle within your body as you strike with that very muscle in which ever limb it resides."

Kusari attempted to hide his riatsu and thought for a moment about other ways he could be sensed. "Forgive me if I manage to hit you Captain." He tried another flash step, walking a few inches above the ground in a wide arch around Mikhail. 'I'm doing it!' Kusari attempted to contain his ecstasy, which was quickly lost as he stumbled and his foot gave the ground a single touch before leaping into the air and focusing all his energy into his heel as it dropped down and spun toward the side of Mihkails neck. The blow was unrestrained because he had already apologized and thus had no worries of repercussions.

((Zomg I'm a pothead. I wanted to spell ecstasy with an x.))

((LOL))

When will he learn that such showy moves have their places, those very places not here. Squinting his sightless eyes, Mikhail had faught many a Shinigami in his lifetime. Many of which had so feebly attempted to conceal their reiastu from him. Shaking his head, he left out a brief laugh. "I do not rely on your reiatsu to detect you. I feel the vibrations of movement in the air as previously stated. Their is no possible way not to create a vibration in the air and therefore you cannot fool me." A little put off by Kusari's attempt to further blind him from his motions, Mikhail shrugged off the prying thoughts. Grasping the ankle of the incoming heel strike, Mikhail felt his hand graze his face. "You didn't manage to hit me, but the strength you put within that strike did not go unnoticed." Twisting the ankle forward, Mikhail brought a high knee strike up towards the inner thigh of the outstretched limb of Kusari.

Making contact with the thigh, Mikhail restrained himself from releasing the pent up kinetic energy. Holding back the transfer of energy, the 2nd Division Taichou had but tapped his knee against Kusari's leg. It would have felt like Mikhail had poked him with his forefinger. "You're getting better. Your speed has already increased considerably but you have a long way to go."

Letting go of his irongrip on the ankle of Kusari, Mikhail tossed the leg away from his body and encouraged the boy to make another attempt. With simple hand gestures, he'd soundlessly signalled his student to come at him again. Mix it up a little. Use that strike later, try your hands instead.
