Okay, so today we started on part 2 of our show. We only had the opener and closer, to clarify. Well, part 2 is...weird. In a fun and sometimes annoying way. Fun: -Lots of Visuals. Dancing, characters, poses, etc. -easy yet complex moves(follow the leader in a swirl, rotating circles, etc) -Kind of random(woodwinds on hold, brass marching, woodwinds posing in pods while brass creating pods, etc)
Annoying: -odd counts(13 count move, 15 count move.) -Painful positions for long periods of time(Lungeing for 12 counts aint much fun after the 20th time)
Has anyone ever done an odd counted move like 13 or 15 counts? I canbarely count that high anymore! And not to mention it ends on a weird foot. It is not right to touch and close starting with the left foot oppsoed to the right foot. It just doesn't work! At rehearsal my brain caused me to take an extra few steps to end on the right foot. (Brain explodes)

We have this really weird like 5/8 time march that looks like we're all limping for eight counts... it is the weirdest thing!

hey try this...our closer is really fast...i forgot the bpm but its extremely fast. lol the whole song pretty much is 4 count pinwheels and company fronts and usually when i'm doing the 4 count pinwheels, i have to jazz run. lol, its fun!!! (that was sarcasm about the fun thing lol) anyway, also i play alto sax (new at it) snap it into my mouth halfway through some of the moves, braces, one word: OUCH!!! yeah, almost everytime, i bust my lip open because my mouthpiece strikes it and it gets caught in my braces. it hurts like hell. sad Your not alone with the annoyingness smile (yes, i just said annoyingness leave me alone lol) if u don't know me, u'll get used to my randomness and im' always hyper smile

Haha, you sound like me Surge5XD An interesting thing we will be learning art rehearsal tommorrow is that some people will be interacting with the guard, like linking arms and such. Our bari sax solists and the horns are all I know of. The hilarious part: All but one of our horns are girls, and our guard is all girls.

So, whoever wrote the drill is trying to kill and confuse us.
Yesterday, we learned the rest of the song with the 13 coutn moves and such. and almost right after the 13 count move is an eightcount move. The woodwinds are in a block. Said block shifts 2 yardlines. In that eight count move. 4-5. Joy. I almost killed myself. For some odd reson, my knees kept locking underneath me when I lowered my center of gravity and when I got them to move they would colapse, so I wasn't making my spot and it hurt. I tried without bending my knees, I almost fell, and only made about a yardline and a half.
So, right after that anoying move the flutes and clarinets lower to 6-5, still hard for my short, stubby legs, while the saxes scatter behind us. This is annoying because the drill is no shape. It is jst a mass of woodwinds. So,I keep trying to dress the lne cuz it bugs me *sigh*
By this poit, flutes and clarinets are the only ones still marching. Unfair much? We have lots of props this year. I'm not sure who si where, but some people are on stages(sitting, might I add) some are behind stages(still get to catch their breath. We will have a scene behind the stages later.) And the most unfai rof all is trumpets pretending to be sleeping cowboys around a campfire. and yes, this means they get to lay down. Meanwhile, us flutskis and clarinetskis are marching another 7 count move(yes, 7) and ending with a painful kneel for 12 counts at the end. *Cries*

We have a couple of 5 counts, a 15 immediately followed by a 9 count, after a series of 12 count moves (why not make them all 12?)

yah we have some odd parts [like woodwind hold, brass move and viceversa- we have some of that in our first piece] still in the first piece we have a rotating block drill that looks pretty cool to me and its fun as long as everyone gets to their spots. and in our last piece [we havent gotten here yet...] but i know we have a 29 count move somewhere and a 15/8 then back to 12/8 measure oh what fun.

I just got some drill that's CRAZY. D= Woodwinds have at least ten subsets, so we end up off-count from everyone else. So, woodwinds move 18 counts total with all of those subsets, brass move eight. I have no idea how this is gonna work... xd

Our last song, or the closer we do alot of 16 double time. I do a lot of 4-5 or 3-5 and those hurt.

Now one of the clarinets, a freshman, gets to join the saxes pretneding to sleep on a stage. it stinks, and I almos tkilled her! How come she gets to relax and we don't? Everyone else gets to lay down except for flutes and larinets, minus her

Yeah, we have a weird part in the show in which the winds need to start on the right foot after a hold during our ballad. It messes everyone up. Also, I think we have an 11 count move during the same song. Also, the time signature keeps changing every measure or so, and that's really weird.
