A glitch. So here's the story. I was playing Imperishable Night (at night) as Yuyuko and Youmu. I got Udonge; I was at 7 lives (counting the one I was using), so I thought, "Oh, cool. Maybe I'll finally get a good ending for the Ghost Girls (I had gotten a good ending before, but that was for the Barrier Girls, Yukari and Reimu)", but then Youmu kept on moving right, like the "right" key stuck or something. So I paused the game and checked that key. It wasn't stuck, so I tried to continue, but having a character constantly contradict your movements make survival very hard. So I reinstalled the game and English patch, and that fixed the problem, but now I have to replay all that... crying Anyone else encounter any errors (Note: This was not a hardware bug because when I played any other game, they were fine; no contradictory movements; only Imperishable Night had that glitch)?

What difficulty?
If it was easy, I have permission to laugh at you.

Maybe... Are you using a keyboard remapper?

I'm hoping you did that AFTER restarting both the game and the whole computer and seeing the problem persist. Becaue that typically would be enough to stop silly little things like that from happening.
Also, I'm pointing out the fact that I'm taking notice of your signature.

Nue Houjuu What difficulty? If it was easy, I have permission to laugh at you. Normal difficulty, but max lives. (Though after the glitch occurred, the difficulty was more like beyond impossible.) Also, thanks for the troubleshooting ("shooting" is quite the appropriate word for this...) advice.

I may have only watched my brother play the first one, but I'm still a fan!

I've had this happen to me twice on EotSD.
.... and then it never did again, I think it's because I accidentally hit shift too much in a panic before and it stickykeyed the > button

I rapid-focused once on the run where I defeated Flandre. I was doing great and I thought I was done right there, but I got lucky and it paused the game as if I'd pressed Alt. Maybe that works differently for different computers or versions of Windows?

What does shift do? For me, the only keys I use are the directionals (for moving), esc (for pausing), z (for shooting and selecting), and x for spell cards. So then what's shift?

The key for survival in most situations. Seriously, you haven't used it yet?

Nope. sweatdrop I also don't know how to switch characters in Imperishable Night or know where exactly on my character her hitbox is.

Well, focus mode allows you to see the hitbox on your character for every game after EoSD, and you should be able to select different characters in IN just by pressing left or right after you confirm your Difficulty level.

By switching, I meant to say switching during battle because in Imperishable Night, you get to play as two characters at once.

Ah, focusing is what does that too. Of course, for alot of tight spots and a majority of bosses it's easiest to stay in focused mode to dodge, though sometimes it changes your offense a bit. (Sakuya's shot is a widespread knifey death, though while in focus, Remilia fires a single, thin beam straight up with a lockable bat artillery for example)
Another note is in some of the earlier games (IN especially, but I think there were some others), there are actually bullets that won't hit you while you're in focus mode. Of course, you can't hit them either, so if they spawn more bullets, you'd have to drop to regular mode to shoot them down. They mainly appear as empty magic circles while focused.
EDIT: Forgot about Remi's bat bullets ;x

...Actually, that happened to me once now that I think about it.
I couldn't stop moving in a particular direction.
...Also against Reisen.
