I've been gone for the past couple of weeks due to my transition to college. During that time I have been inactive from this Guild and all others I've joined, most specifically, the Gaian Resistance. Since I was the last active Vice Captain of the GR, I had felt the need to step down and hand it over to individuals who are most capable of taking good care of it. Sadly, upon returning to it recently, I've found out that the Guild has collapsed on itself and is showing almost no signs of recovery.

I am addressing this because it may seem as if the H2K6 plot Guilds are most definitely lost, save for the GIB and Believers due to zOMG!. We have already heard the news that an interactive will eventually come. The question is... will it come in time? And when it does come, will the GIB be relevant? I intend to participate in any future interactive plot events, but I just worry if the Guilds that pushed for a plot will be relevant to what's to come. What if we don't? Do we need to change our image for the sake of relevancy? Or shall we just maintain ourselves as extraterrestrial researchers in the face of danger? wink

Sadly, our image was destroyed quite a bit by zOMG. I think of ourselves as the interplanetary greeting association. IGA... XD Anyways, we greet, and if they pose a threat, we are also Gaia's defense system. And personally, I like that image.

First I would like to say long time no see. And second, not even a third World War will destroy GiB. With Tim being as young as he is, this guild will thrive for many more years.

Since when is running the GiB a lifetime appointment?

Whether it comes "in time" or not is... irrelevant. The important part is that it comes, not whether we as GiB agents will be able to force our way into the spotlight when it does. Unless it is a full-on Return of the Zurg, it will most likely be another group's time to shine.

Which is only fair.

If we can continue to participate while remaining true to ourselves, so much the better. But I do not believe we should "overhaul" ourselves just to extend our time in the sun.

I am saying that GiB will at least stay alive for a while. It might change but this guild should stay for at least 7 more years.

I'll just agree with TIM. Our entire point was interplanetary beings. We should let other groups go up and bask in some of the glory.

Granted, we did have enough of a following that we will be getting a side-plot in zOMG, but zOMG doesn't really do much with Gaia's actually plotlines, if read carefully.

Agreed. The G.I.B. has never been about being in the lime-light, it has been about being in the shadows.

Sitting in the shadows, watching the world we're a part of, and monitoring its activities. We're not celebrities, we're here to do a job, and that job is the protection of both visiting extra-terrestrials and the people of Gaia.

Not to say that it's all Serious Business, of course. I'm just saying that we aren't here to be celebrities, and that fact lends to our survival. We don't depend on the people, we just depend on Gaia being there.

This. I agree with this fully...

Not to say we didn't enjoy being celebrities of course whee

But yes, I think for most people who had that idea for their membership in the GiB have since moved on. Which is sad, but that's how it is.

My take on it, is we let the other groups shine.

The Believers, the Hive, and ourselves. We are the points of the past. New groups should come for new tasks.

We should only rise up if the Zurg return, or if the P3s or some other aliens make a show.

Otherswise....lets bask in the past together, and look on towards the future generations.

Everyone twists my words. I don't care about being recognized by Gaia. And I agree that others should have their time to shine. I am just saying this guild probably wont die in the near future. Except maybe 2012.

Which actually is very possibly true, especially those going by satellite energy. By using actual math and crap, they found that there will likely be a perfect solar storm, knocking out satellites and power for about... 3 days to 2 months. Mass hysteria anyone?

Well. The exact date of the storm is questionable but likely earlier 2012 to earlier 2013.
