Iztherigroaned, pushed her chair back from her desk in her study room and closed the spell books with a muffled thump. A cloud of dust rose from each book when the pages closed, causing her to cough slightly at the added dust in the still air around her.

"Gods it's stuffy in here." She wheezed slightly as she stood up and stretched to relieve the tension that had built up in her back and neck from sitting hunched over her books of magic for the past four hours. She groaned in relief from the small cracking sounds that came from the lower part of her spine. Then she went about returning all the books to the bookshelves she had gotten them from.

She was the type that hated disorder and chaos, especially in her study. Things tended to go much better when there was order and balance in her life..even more so in the places she spent the most time. Plus she always knew when someone had been rifling through her things because she could always tell when things had been put in the wrong order.

"Well..I should probably go over my medical supplies and see what I might need to purchase. Plus.." She told herself with a slight grin on her face, "it would give me an excuse to get out of the House and get some better air to inhale."

She finished cleaning up her desk before she slipped out of her study and locked the door with the key from around her wrist. She then made her way down the hallway, walking gracefully with a slight sway of her hips towards her medical lab. Once there, she unlocked the door and with a flick of her wrist the waiting tall candles flickered to life casting bright red orange light into the once dark room.

With a small smile playing on her lips as she hummed a melody to herself, she made her way over to the storeroom inside the medical lab to check on her supplies. It didn't take but a few moments for her to calculate that she was almost entirely depleted of wormroot from her stores. She frowned and tried to remember why and what had caused it all to suddenly disappear.

"Oh right," She said with a snap of her fingers as clarity suddenly came to her. "That was because of the sudden food poisoning at that bar a few weeks ago. That job really came in handy, especially since I had nearly depleted what small allowance the matron gives me."

A frown crossed her face at these words. She was definitely going to have to deal with ridding herself of Matron Deferusad if the old lady didn't die off anytime soon. It seriously was causing her a lot of problems; having to deal with the old woman so much. Not to mention using the majority of her magic and healer abilities on the old bag everytime she came close to death. When would the old bag finally have enough and deem her, Iztheri capable of running the House?

She shook her head, and sighed deeply. Then took out a quill from a nearby drawer, and a small piece of used parchment and wrote down the herbs that she would need to replenish. Once she had done this, she folded the paper over twice and slid it down the front of her dress. Then she carefully counted out the coins she would need, and slid them in a small purse that she attached to her wrist and silently slid out of her medical lab. Outside of it, she locked the door and sauntered down the hallway. When she made it to the side door that she normally used to leave the House iv'Ress she grabbed her purple cloak and secured it on herself before stepping outdoors.

She paused outside, and drew in a deep breath of the slightly stale air rather relieved at the change. She momentarily wondered what the air on the surface smelled like, probably something like sunshine and flowers...which she had heard was ghastly smelling. She shook her head to rid it from such thoughts and made her way down through the courtyard and out into the city streets of Undrek'thoz.

Ages ago, the iv'Ress House had owned carriages and that was the mode of transport for the nobles of the House to get around. Sadly, the carriages of their House were falling apart back behind the gates of the House. Such disrepair was an annoyance to Iztheri, since she preferred everything in the House to be in tip top shape, even though it had been ages since the iv'Ress House had seen any company inside.

Such thoughts were depressing to Iztheri, since she still remembered how the House had been when it had been at the height of it's social status and ranking in Undrek'thoz. The House had been filled with parties and music and dancing. Not to mention the most delightful torture sessions in the dungeon chambers below the upper floors. She was going to have to implicate a lot of changes once she managed to rise to being the Matron. Starting with aligning the iv'Ress House with other Houses that would help it rise once more and gain the attention of the Higher ranking Houses.

All her thoughts and plans for the House disappeared when the smells and sounds of the marketplace became more prevalent to her. She couldn't help but allow a small smile spread over her face as she entered the marketplace. She paused and took a deep breath and savored the scents of the food stalls. Her mouth started to water almost instantly and her stomach began to rumble.

"Hmm..maybe a bit of food first wouldn't hurt." She told herself as she made her way gracefully over to the closest food stall. She ordered a dish of savory meat and bread and ate it down quickly to appease her stomach. Once her stomach was satisfied, she turned to the owner who appeared rather angry that she hadn't paid before she had eaten.

"would you like to be paid in currency or perhaps a healing spell?" She asked, compulsively.

The owner's eyes shot up in surprise at her offer. Iztheri waited, her hands on her waist as she eyed him closely. "It's not surprising that I picked up on the sickness your lover has, you carry the taint of it on you." Iztheri told him with a shrug of her small shoulders.

It didn't surprise her any when the owner took the latter offer. She simply smiled, and worked a healing spell on tea leaf that she pulled out of her pouch. Once she was done, she handed it over to him, saying simply "Just add this to whatever tea your lover drinks and they should be healed of their illness."

Then she was off, wandering through the crowded marketplace to the one herbology tent in the marketplace that she found reputable enough to buy from.

The twins made their way through the city of Undrek'thoz. Raistlin looked through the crowds of people. He never liked to be around a lot of other drow. But it couldn't be helped for he and his twin were traveling to one of the nearby underground volcanoes of the area. There was a rare herb that grew there that he wanted to run some tests on. His brother, Caramon, was only here for he couldn't have made the trip from Northdark by himself. He hated being weak physically.

His grip tightened on his staff for a moment. It couldn't be helped for, in a way, his magic made up for that which he lacked. Only the Matron of the house they server knew and feared of it. One day he would over throw her, and rule a house himself. Though for now he'd wait.

Caramon grinned and looked around, he loved being around other drow. How interesting there were so many of them. "Hey Raist, what town are we in again?"

It didn't matter much where they were, as long as they were not stuck in a house. The warrior was not a fan of just sitting around, he needed to be out in the middle of something. Even if that was just walking through a crowd for now.

"I've told you, Undrek'thoz. And before you ask, we are collecting a plant from around here ..." Before he could finish, his hand tightened on the staff in his hand. Not now. His hourglass eyes closed as he coughed into his empty hand. Eyes opening he saw the blood on them. Raistlin had just gotten over a bad coughing spell earlier and this just made it worse to have one again.

His twin rushed them off the street and stopped on the side. He leaned against a building. "I need my tea, brother." Shakily, he reached for one of the many bags on his belt and opened it. He sighed. "I seem to be out of a few things. Caramon, go ask someone where a good herbology place is, quickly." He slumped on his staff again as another coughing fit came over him. Mentally, he scolded himself for not realizing that he was low sooner.

Caramon grimiced, he hated seeing his brother like this. Off he rushed and entered into one of the near shops, asking where to get herbs.

Once he knew, he got back to his brother and helped him up. "Lean on me, I know where one is now." Gathering up his twin, they made their way down the street to where the herbology tent was.

Iztheri wandered through the marketplace, taking care to appear as though she wasn't in anywhere in a hurry. It seemed that thieves always targeted the individuals that appeared important or in a hurry and Iztheri didn't really care to be targeted by any thieves. She really wasn't in the mood to deal with them...though it would be fun to see how far a thief could fly through the air.

At the thought, Iztheri snickered slightly. Gods..she needed some way to amuse herself. Or perhaps a job to liven up her day. Sure..the enchanted tea leaf that she had traded to the food vendor had been a nice gesture and all, but Iztheri need more than just random acts to make her feel worth while. She wanted a challenge. She wanted something that would require more brain work and magic work than that simple spell had required.

She entered the herbology tent, and ambled slowly through glancing over the wares laid out on the long tables. There were glass jars of powders along the backside of the tent in a locked glass bookcase, dried leaves bundled up in small burlap sacks, as well as the fresher leaves laid out on the table for those that preferred to pick out their own so that they knew exactly what they were getting.

She waited silently going over all the herbs and powders she would need in her head as the proprietor helped the person in front of her. When it was finally her turn, she smiled and began to rattle off her list. The male's face beamed as he rushed to fill her order. Iztheri finally came to the end of her list, ending with, "And I need your entire supply of dragon's tongue root."

"that's quite a bit of dragon's tongue..Mistress..are you sure you need that much?" he asked, rather surprised at her request.
"I work with magic as well as the healing arts, the dragon's tongue root is essential to the work I do." Iztheri replied, not the least bit annoyed or disturbed by the male's surprise.

This probably worked in her favor, for the proprietor didn't make any other arguments as he bundled up the entire supply he had left of the dragon's tongue root, and then totaled up the price for all her purchases.
Iztheri paid the sum without a blink or argument, earning herself a much appreciated gleam in the male's eyes. She gathered up her bundles and placed them in the sturdy leather bag that the proprietor gifted to her for being his best customer of the day.

"Thank you for your service Mistress, I look forward to serving you once more!" The male told her as she left the tent.

"Oh don't you worry, yours is the only tent I shall come to for my supplies Sir." Iztheri replied with a light laugh and disappeared out of the tent with a happy gleam in her eyes.

Raistlin clutched his staff as his brother helped him down the street. He hated this, hated that he was dependent on another. Why me. Such power he had in magic, but nothing he could do about being weak.

As they walked, he took out a white handkerchief and coughed into it, leaving spots of blood on it.

Caramon grimaced. He cared for his brother, truly, such an odd trait for a drow. It hurt him to see his brother in this state but loved that he could help, that he was needed.

"Hey Raist, look. I see the herb place." He nodded his head toward it, which wasn't to far away. His brother said nothing as they went into the tent, after a female had recently left it.

The shop keep looked at them funny. "What can I do you for," he asked.

Raist coughed and pushed himself away from his brother. "Dragon's tongue root..." He slumped down to the ground as his coughing fit took over once more.

"Sorry, a Lady just bought the last of it and we won't have any more in for a few days," said the drow.

This was all Caramon needed to hear. Leaving his brother, he ran out of the tent and after the female he saw leaving as they left. Seeing her he called out, "Mistress, please, in the orange."

Iztheri gracefully twirled around, and eyed the large male drow that had called after her. Such a big tough fellow, she gazed up at him thoughtfully as she twirled the bag holding her supplies as her mind drifted off into a more amusing area of thought.

"What is it you want?" She asked in a wary tone, unsure of what the fellow could want with her.

She glanced around the area and frowned when she saw a cloaked figure slumped on the ground coughing his lungs out. Something obviously was wrong with him. She ignored the immediate feeling to go over and help the fellow out. She wasn't about to expel any more of her abilities without getting compensated for them properly. And by all appearances it seemed like the fellow was going to need a lot of tender healing care.

Caramon had a look of concern on his face. He knew that wasn't such a good thing to show in this world, but well, he truly did feel for his twin. "I am sorry to disturb you Mistress." He looked back at his brother quickly, then at the lady. "My brother is ... ill" Which wasn't a full lie, he didn't want to get his brother in trouble. "And one of the ingredients to his potion is that Dragon's Tongue Root we were told you purchased."

One of his large hands scratched the back of his neck while he waited for the mistress's answer. He wasn't going to beg, he hoped.

Again, Raistlin clutched his staff as he made his way out of the tent and stood to watch his brother. Another fit came over which sent him back to the ground, his staff clanging to the floor. Curse this weak body...

One thing he liked having his brother around for, to ask of things. He'd never beg for help.

Iztheri remained emotionless as the other male explained why he had stopped her in the street. She could tell that he wasn't lying and though he didn't seem to have any ulterior motives she couldn't help but feel cautious. It wasn't every day that some male stopped her on the street to ask for a favor, and despite the obvious ill state the other male was in she could tell that he was a mage or wizard of some order.

She pursed her lips and eyed the two males thoughtfully before she finally spoke. "Your brother apparently needs more than just some old roots, what's wrong with him?" She asked, glancing over at the other male.
"I may be able to help you more than you think, I happen to be a healer; among other things." Iztheri added as she played with the material of her dress.

PostPosted: Mon Feb 15, 2010 7:30 pm

Caramon stood silent as he waited to hear the mistress' response. He hoped that they'd just pay for some of the roots and be on their way. Dark eyes glanced to his brother and then to the lady. "Well, I... he never told me exactly, you'd have to ask him."

His brother had never trusted to tell him the full reason as to him ailment but knew the root helped. "We've been to healers before, though he protested, none could ever help." The tall drow sighed.

Gripping his staff, Raistlin brought himself to stand up. Though it took a moment for him to get his bearings. His fit seemed to be over for the moment, but would come back quicker without help from his potion. Hourglass eyes stared at the mistress before he started to walk towards them.

Iz'theri's eyebrows shot up, at Caramon's words and her gaze shot back to the struggling figure. "Oh really? From what I can surmise, it looks like it might have been magically induced. Figures normal healers wouldn't be able to deal with it, they only attack the problem from one side." She murmured softly, eying the much shorter and slenderer of the two as he approached her his strange eyes boring into her own.

She frowned slightly, and stepped back a quizzical look on her face. What exactly was he? Could he be possessed by a demon? Or was it something worse? Despite her misgivings and the slight thrill of fear that pulsated up her spine, she stared back into his face without blinking.

"Are you trying to hypnotize me or something?" she asked wryly, as she crossed her arms over her chest and stood staring at him with a very unamused demeanor.

PostPosted: Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:29 pm

Caramon rubbed the back of his neck again. Really, he didn't understand any of this magic and healing stuff. He was a fighter and could care less about learning stuff. "Our Mistress wasn't even able to heal him though..." When it came to her, she could heal most anything too.

The warrior watched his brother approach and rushed over to help him. Sliding an arm around him, he helped to hold him slightly as they walked.

Raistlin grimaced as his brother helped him to walk, he disliked that so much. Help was something he hated. The female was, well attractive, though he didn't pay that much attention (surely his brother had yet to notice, for once he would he'd being falling over himself). The mage doubt this female could help with this curse. "No, I was merely trying to figure out why someone such as you would want all that root for."

He coughed once more, whipping blood from his mouth.

Iz'theri frowned slightly, a bit curious to whom the warrior was referring to. "Your Mistress is a healer and a mage then?" She asked skeptically, nearly growing in stature at the very thought that there could be a drowess out there with skills that matched her own.

Her demeanor didn't falter as she watched the warrior rush over to help his brother over to where she stood. What was it about the stronger one helping the weaker? This was strange, as it wasn't a normal characteristic for drow to have. There must be something the mage was holding over the other, maybe guilt? Or something much worse.

She instantly disliked the mage, despite his sickly state. There was too much arrogance, too much disdain in those odd eyes of his. Her lip curled slightly at his words and she snorted and shook her head. "I deal in healing a lot of wounded and poisoned clients, my clinic has to be stocked properly..unfortunately for you today I needed to restock my dragon's tongue root. Good luck finding some. There's another herb tent down on the other side of the market. Have a good day gentlemen." She replied stiffly and then turned to walk away.

PostPosted: Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:17 pm

Caramon just nodded, knowing that their mistress was indeed good at healing. He paid no attention to his brother's glare since he was use to the behavior. Though his brother was usually... nicer to females. The warrior shifted uncomfortably as his brother stood without his help now.

Raistlin sighed, seemed as though he dropped to much of his act. He disliked having to play nice around females, since they technically had more rank then he.

As the female started to turn he waved a hand, more of a reach out. "Wait." He sensed that there was something about this female, perhaps she was stronger in the healing arts. Though he knew he would never be cured, perhaps she could lessen it some. "My Mistress Tara'Zeklia of the House Noquval'ani could perhaps pay if you were to, ah, take a look at my ailment." He knew as much that she would indeed pay for most anything the archmage asked for.

Iztheri paused with a sigh and turned back around to gaze at the two drow in a bored manner. Her lips scrunched up at his words, as she tried to decide if helping the fellow out would be worth it in the long run.
She sighed again and waved a hand at them to follow. "Fine, follow me then. I'll see what this ailment is and if I cam do anything to help you with it." She murmured and then spun around again and stalked off.

She really didn't care to waste her time on a male that was obviously so disdainful of females and their status, but the name he had dropped had been a rather high up one. If it had been a different House she might have just ignored his request, he was lucky that the House Noqival'ani had taken interest in him. Otherwise..Iz'theri wouldn't have even bothered with him.

She didn't really pay attention to whether the two males were keeping up with her or not, if they really wanted her help they would at least try to keep her within eyesight. She wove in and out of the crowded marketplace and back to her House. If she was going to spend time on the fellow she wasn't going to do it in the streets were all could watch, but in the privacy of her private medical lab.

Caramon smiled. "Thank you my lady!" He was way to happy to be a drow though he never thought as much. Noticing the lady was making her way from them he quickly helped his brother to follow after her. They were able to catch up to her since he was helping his brother who'd never be able to walk that fast.

The archmage sighed. It was going to be a long day. Thinking about it, perhaps he should have acted nicer to the female. He didn't care for her at all and doubted that anyone could help him. It was an odd ailment and none could figure what it was nor where it came from. He remained silent as his brother helped him to follow her to where ever it was she was heading.

Iztheri was still unsure of he two males following her. They seemed so off kilter. The large one was quite the beauty but he acted as though he had been held under water after he had been born. And that damn mage was already getting on her last nerve with his high and mighty attitude! Why the hell was she helping him again?

Oh, right. Iztheri sighed. Because of who they worked for. Maybe it was just wishful thinking on her part that their mistress might actually show interest in being her ally after she took over the running of the iv'Ress House and business ventures. It had been a good solid month since the most lucrative of the iv'Ress ventures had paid off for them. That surely had to be a sign from Lolth that the current state of rule was needing to be changed.

Iztheri turned and shot a speculative glance back at the two males and led them down what appeared to be a dead end.
"Please, it's nothing." She murmured in response to Caramon's words. She placed her fingers on the raised runes that had been blazed on the wall. Then after several shallow breathes Iztheri began to chant a sequence of charms. The runes under her fingers began to glow and pulsate until they turned bright crimson red. Seconds later a small doorway appeared in the brick wall revealing a very dark constricted tunnel.

"I apologize for the size of the tunnel, when I created it I didn't think anyone your size might be using it," She told Caramon and reached out to help Raistlin through. "It may be easier on you if you don't have the added awkwardness of dragging your brother through. It shall be hard enough for you to squeeze through as it is. I should be fully capable of lending him a hand, should he need it."
