Queen... Needs to die. DIE DIE DIE!

Bohemian Rhapsody is DEATH!

One, it is NOT opera, nor is it operatic. I don't care what my school chorus teacher says. They sing with fish lips and it's a PARODY of opera. Not opera. Okay? So DON'T try telling me it's opera!

Second, it's DEATH! I sang it for the demon last year and I'm NOT doing it again. I will kick, scream, shout, and cry, but I WON'T sing Bohemian Rhapsody again! ESPECIALLY not with RENT on the program, too. AND "Can You Hear", AND God knows what else he'll pick.

Bohemian Rhapsody made me cry last year. Literally! And NOT because I loved the music so much I was moved. It is vocally EXHAUSTING! "Will I" from RENT is fine on it's own, as is "Can You Hear", but both of those, other music, AND Bohemian Rhapsody? It'll be a repeat of last year! And guess what! By the end of the spring program last year, I physically couldn't sing anymore. My voice gave out and just REFUSED to sing anything above an E. And when I can't sing higher than an E something's seriously WRONG.

I couldn't sing Bohemian Rhapsody in the rehearsal just prior to the concert, and I couldn't sing ANYTHING the entire day of until the rehearsal, because it was too vocally taxing and I couldn't even get through the program once without it taking a serious toll on my voice.

And this year? GUESS WHAT! We're TOURING THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS with Bohemian Rhapsody. Hah... Hah... THAT'S FUNNY! He thinks I'm performing that God awful piece more than once in a day? AND with HIS sorry excuses for warm-ups? Hah! Yeah. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! I'm a high school student. I don't have the stamina of a professional singer who's been performing in various operas for decades.

It's. Not. Vocally. Safe.

Furthermore, I need to keep my voice in good shape for college auditions. I also need my voice to be healthy because every Wednesday I'm going to have THREE HOUR practice sessions with a lot of challenging music. Those are with my vocal coach and by themselves they'll be fine. She'll let me take breaks if I need to, she'll make sure I'm warmed up very well, and she knows how hard she can push me to get results without exhausting my voice. But add a demanding school music teacher who DOESN'T know when he's asking for too much and refuses to believe me when I SAY I can't do everything he asks of me to those three hour sessions and I'm screwed.

Bohemian Rhapsody is EVIL! *stabs*

I'M NOT DOING IT AGAIN!

He PROMISED me a Bach Alleluia I begged for and Minka! Nice, pretty, easy pieces to mix in with some harder ones to give me a bit of downtime. Not hard piece, hard piece, vocally exhausting piece, strenuous piece, hard piece, insanely hard piece, and finally supersadisticinsanelyevilvocallyexhausting piece!

That used to be my favorite song for a long time.

Honey you need to calm down and breath. Do your breathing excersises. Now go sing some silly songs, like Hakuna Matata - it'll make you feel better. Well, maybe it won't.
Is this your HS chorus teacher your talking about? If it is, you need to realize that he is much more worried about making himself look good than he is about how you look/sound/feel.
Hang in there. (Do your own warm ups if his suck, ask your real teacher for some advice).

All I felt from you while reading your post was RAGE FURY MADNESS RAGE!! Needless to say, but NOT GOOD!! I think you should tell your HS music teacher to F*CK OFF and let you BREATHE FOR ONCE! Cause girl, if you go on like this, your voice will never be the same again.

I dislike Queen. Very much.

Here's a hard song we did this year for chorus;
Sleep - Eric Whitacre
Yes, It's accapella
Or however you spell it.

We also did;
The Nightmare before christmas medley ( But ours was much better and we didn't do a giant acting thing. )
