I say, there's not enough exposure out there for FtM transgender folks. Honestly. Everyone knows about MtF (male to female) transpeople. I consider myself pansexual and have many-a-day considered a sex change. I have a question that many have asked themselves, and I'd like your take on it!
These can be discussed and answered by ANYONE. Genderqueer or not. Just pick the one you'd best be able to answer.
Q1: Why don't more women come out about being transgender? (for MtF) Why do more men come out than women?
Q2: Why don't more women go about gender reassignment surgeries? (for MtF) Do you want to go through with the whole shebang or just get selected work done (if so, why)?
Q3: (For all)When should you tell a perspective significant other that you're genderqueer or transgender?
I really have no idea about Q1-2. My take on Q3 is that it should be follow your gut. Honestly it's a crappy answer, but I don't know a different way to put it. You'd want to tell a receptive person soon, if not make it one of your main describing facts, but if you really like someone and are getting to know them, you could hold off and maybe tiptoe around it and drop hints. Then again, you don't want to end up telling them too late.
Anyone have any takes on these questions that bother me so?

I have thought about being a man before. But I really don't feel like a man inside. I'm reading a book that is called Nature Made him the boy who was raised as a girl. In the book it shows how many people are born with one sex but they don't actually belong to that sex.

darkndecay im a FTM and proud.... just saying but i dont know i was rased a girl and rased knowing somthing was horrible wrong....and now i know what it is thats wrong i cant wait to change it I can't wait either. It's just so darned expensive! I knew something was off when all the girls were playing with dolls and I was playing with trucks. I also would look in the mirror and hope that I grew a 'tail' (what it was called when I was a 5yo). I would check every day to see if I grew one. Alas... I found out later you don't just 'grow' one, you've gotta be born with it. Drats! Foiled again!

Answering your questions:
Why don't more women/men come out about being transgender?
Few possible reasons: Social pressure (discrimination, etc.) Insecurity (confused self-identity, etc.)
Why don't more women/men go about gender reassignment surgeries?
Possible reason: They are okay with what they were born as because they do not depend on their bodies to be who they feel they are.
When should you tell a perspective significant other that you're genderqueer or transgender?
When the time is right. (I do not consider this a "crappy answer".)
