I have a 74 Ret/Holy paladin and I hate leveling him because he doesn't have a flyer. I know it's cheaper since 3.2, but I tried many ways of gold farming and none of them work. I rarely have 300 gold. I have high mining and can can mine stuff that would usually give me hundreds of gold but sadly it doesn't on my crappy server... I have low enchanting too. Mid 100's. I always get bored to death while trying to level and go on my alts. (which wastes even more gold with mounts, spells, etc.)
So, any tips? sweatdrop

There is one way, but its probably the reason your server is so bad.
Well, you could always switch servers.

Yeah, it can be a pain to farm gold when the prices on the server are horrible. I play on 2 different servers, Ally and Horde sides, and although they both have their own prices, there's always something that's worth more than on the other server. I tend to make a lot of gold going back to Azeroth on my Hordie, since old materials are rare nowadays, and make tons of gold. On my Ally server, it's best to go for Northrend stuff, and items that give reputation but are not soulbound.
Well anyway... Either change the server, or find out what's worth the most, out of the items you can get, and just go for them.

Well I can tell you from experience, I never had the best anything when I started playing last year. My fiancee got me started on it and I'd never played before, but I'm a gamer so I fit it quickly.
On my Lock, my first toon and main, I did skinning/LW, no it didn't help my toon at all, but up until 60 I had made over 24k which went into my guild, repairs, amazing gems and whatnot. On my new toon, on a totally different realm, a shammy, I also took up skinning/LW now it does help out the toon which is convenient, but I had dual-spec by 43, flyer at 62, money into the guild, etc..
Besides gathering professions to make you money, if you're on a decent server, use the AH!! It's one of the best money makers you can get before NR. Especially around 40-50, sell any greens and blues you might have. I suggest getting Auctioneer from Curse, it'll help massively with your selling decisions.
On any day I have between 300 and 2k gold. I'm actually saving up to buy my fiancees 80 rogue dual spec. Once you get in the habit of making money, it comes pretty easily. Even something as simple as having a lvl 20-30 alt to go herb gathering for you can make you a ton of extra gold. But I do agree with everybody else, questing sucks but it IS good gold especially when grinding humanoids. Good luck though man, happy farming! blaugh

I'd go mining/skinning if you like questing
or go mining/enchanting if you like to run instances alot as well as quest

You can't use a flyer yet in Northrend anyway, and having a flyer doesn't actually make that much difference. Just focus on getting to 80 and then once you are 80, do all the quests you didn't do in Northrend and make money from them.

Grizzly Hills dailys give you about 100g a day. Start with those and unlock the Wyrmrest, Kaluk (Or whatever they're called) and at your level unlock the ones in Borean.
After about an hour of daily (Maybe 1:30 if you don't have epic flying.... Okay maybe 2 hours) you should be settin at around 250ish, maybe 275. If you pick up herbalism you could be at 500g after selling your herbs depending on your server economy.
Just some tips.

Having a flyer makes a big difference, it's matters between getting from the decent areas in Northrend like Grizzly Hills and such to Scholar Basin and Icecrown where there is alot of good things to get out there.
Doing Dailies everday gives you a couple hunred gold a day if you are doing all of them everyday.
With mining you need to save every bit of ore and gems and sell them in mass quantities. I saved gems and what not from questing, mining and dungeons. After a few weeks of saving, I made around a couple thousand gold selling it all.
A good combo to go with mining is Jewelcrafting, just think of it like this. Hundreds and thousands of people get a new piece of gear a day, some get several within a week, people needs gems for sockets and since they have to get new gems, JC gems are always in demand. I've made thousands of gold to doing mining and JC, gave up questing cause it was slowing productivity down lol.
If you quest and do dailies enough, work on your Professions so you up to speed whenever you move to a new area, then you should be proficiently making money for your mounts.
Course doing quests from 70-77 alone gets you like 1k gold for flying...
if you don't like that, run strat or some other old school dungeon and sell all the loot and s**t in there, makes plenty of money XD. I've found epics running through ZF and made a few hundred.

Shame on me, but I really don't have professions, except maxed out skinning on my Shammy.
I get all my gold from questing and doing dailies. Oh, and when you do dungeons, roll on all the blues and greens that drop. On top of the gold and cloth you get from mobs, you can sell whatever loot you got in there too. Easy way to make gold. C:
I do all the argent tourny dailies on my 80 Shamnmy and 80 DK. I make 300-400 gold a day between the two. Plus, I have a 66 Pally I'm leveling. She already has dual spec and flying. It is nice to do professions, but it seems I do fine with just questing and dailies! Whichever floats your boat.

Bet people gold you can own their faces and then commence to make them swallow their teeth. But a lot of the time they won't pay up when they lose and they'll hound you if you don't pay up when you lose.

If you're seldom above three hundred gold you're probably spending too much of it. Swear off the auction house and just work on getting to eighty (unless you're putting up auctions, then go for it). If you sell your green drops you get while questing and only spend money on training you'll make money fast.

As previously mentioned azeroth stuff is currently selling better than Northrend materials in a lot of cases. For example, on Silver Hand horde a stack of thorium is roughly 80g whereas a stack of saronite is about half that. And from what I hear the level 250-300 enchanting mats (brilliant shards, etc) just keep going up and up in value. Ugh, and the gems you can get from thorium. Azerothian diamonds at 15g a pop.
You can also make decent money off of running the 60 dungeons. My boyfriend's currently trying for Baron's horse and can make a couple hundred gold off of 5 runs. Not to mention runecloth is always worth a lot and you get a tonne of that.

↺_↻ Dude, I made 300 gold before level 17 xD
Just go to low-level instances. I don't know about on your server, but on mine, if you go to BFD and collect tangy clam meat, it sells for 22g a stack. Plus, if you happen to find a non-soulbound blue item in an instance, you can sell that for 65g +
It adds up trust me.
