An attempt to finish an RP started in the thread. When last we left our heros:
Nirvana came out of the kitchen with her facial fur covered in some sort of reddish sauce.
Ahote appeared a few feet above the ground at the threshold of the HQ, flopping clumsily to the ground. He was still getting used to his new size.
Nirvana recognized her friend even though he was bigger... she bounded over to him... steadier on her legs, but still a bit awkward in her large feet and ears. The last she had seen him his leg had been broken and so she looked at it a bit worried, s'your leg okay?
Ahote nodded eagerly and wagged his bad paw in front of her. Since he'd grown, his paw hadn't grown with him, and had healed in an awkward position. Still, he didn't want her to worry. "It's good! How have you been, Vana?" The adol was glad to see Nirvana again.
Stoker trotted down the hallway quitely, listening to Poe's happy chattering. While Stoker was quite and stoic, his littermate was the exact opposite; happy, chattering and interested in anything when he wasn't having one of his fits of meloncholy::
So then Sakura-neechan decided to try getting the fish out of hedge using Gullien's broom as a lever. Not only did she get it lose, it went flying into the air and through... hey Stoker, isn't that Ahote?
Poe bobbled forward, eager to see the other kit again.
Stoker followed sedately.
Nirvana looked the paw over a bit worried. Well, I guess you don't touch the ground anyway. She smiled trying to hide her apprehension at his odd paw. It sure looked like it hurt. I've been good, pangolin has been taking me everywhere with her, and mom and Keoke were showing me how to hunt for my own lunch. Though pangolin feeds us all so I don't know why they go hunting. It's all gross and you have to KILL things. She shook her head violently at the idea. Mom says it's cause I'm little, that it won't bother me later. But it seems mean.
Ahote furrowed his brow. "I don't think I like that idea, either. I eat meat, too, but I think Noo buys it from the store. Sometimes she gets lost, Mommy and I have to go out and find her." He let out a high pitch giggle, which he cut off, and cleared his voice embarassedly. Ears twitching, he disappeared, then reappeared facing the approaching kitsu. "Hi, guys!"
Poe grinned at Ahote, dipping his muzzle through the other kitsu's in greeting and waving a paw. He gestured impatientely for Stoker to hurry up, already!
Stoker trotted up. Although his face didn't change expression, he was very careful to keep his eyes knee-length and above on Ahote. He really didn't want to see other the kit's foot again. "Hey Ahote." He called. "I see you've grown too."
Again, the pale kitsu nodded. "I'm big like you!" He used his head to point towards the pair, while facing Nirvana. "I bet you'll be big, too soon! Won't that be great?" He stifled another excited laugh. Since he'd gotten older, Ahote had felt somewhat obligated to be more mature. It was difficult.
Stoker glanced around to see who Ahote was talking to. His tails bristled as he realized it was that kit... the one that belonged to the white and black hag. He frowned but held his tounge. He was bigger than her now. It was one thing to defend his family's good name, it was another to pick on a child. Still... He hung back by Ahote, not looking at the other kit.
Curious, Poe darted forward to catch a glimpse of the new kit. He remembered her somewhat... eh. No clue! Waving a paw through Ahote he gestured at the new kit, hoping for introductions. He could already tell by the set of Stoker's head that the other wasn't going to be any help.
Nirvana fell back when Ahote disappeared a bit shocked at his sudden leaving, but then saw him at the other side of the room with two kitsus she recognized, the ones her mom didn't like. She tried to wipe the spaghetti sauce off her dark muzzle and then bravely wandered about two feet, before becoming shy again and sort of slinking up to them hiding behind Ahote. Nirvana nodded her head at Ahote's words. Not sure what to say to the three larger kits. She smiled at the ghost paw coming through Ahote's head. They all had neat tricks.
Instinctively, Ahote curled his tails around Nirvana. This was something his mother used to do for him when he was a kit, so he reasoned that she might feel comforted by it. Still, his stoic, guardian image was shattered by his obvious amusement with Poe's "power." Cocking his head, he noticed Stoker's pained expression. "What's wrong? It's just Vana. You know her, right? Right?"
Nirvana sank into his tails, though he wasn't an adult and she couldn't hide in them entirely like she did Keoke's or Raz' she liked the feeling.
Poe nodded. Vana, huh. Neat! Floating down next to Ahote he gestured to her, happily moving his mouth although no sound came out. He waited for a moment for a response, before realizing none was coming. Turning his head to Stoker, he gestured again, frustrated.
Stoker shook his head slightly. No way was he going to translate. If Poe wanted to talk to the chit, that was his business.
Poe stared hard at his littermate for a moment. Although it was almost barely visible, Stoker's eyes seemed to take on a little sheen of a blue.
"Is that your name? Vana? My name is Stoker, and this is my brother Poe. It's nice to meet you."
Poe smilied eagerly at the other two kitsu, tail wagging.
Stoker shook his head, confused, as the sheen faded. Had something just happened? Had he said... well, yes... clearly he had. Well, it would be cruel to refuse to tell them what his brother was saying. He didn't have to talk to this 'Vana' otherwise, afterall.
Apparently, age had not made Ahote any less oblivious of the relationship between Nirvana and Sakura's families. He grinned widely and plopped onto his haunches. His tails loosened around the kit, though he felt he should keep them around her, just...well, he didn't know. Just because.
He hadn't noticed the change in Stoker's eyes, either.
She perked up a bit, her ears standing straight up. She'd seen the change in Stoker and wasn't sure what to think of it, but he had spoken to her. Her mom had told her never to associate with them, lucky for her she had no idea what that word meant. She nodded her head, trying to keep smiling. My name is Nirvana, but everyone calls me Vana. She looked very hard at Poe Poe doesn't make noise does he? Poe drifted over to his littermate, looking a fair bit more assertive than he had before. He grinned at Vana's question, nudging Stoker with an elbow. He usually chose to let Stoker be the leader, but it paid to have a secret weapon when he wanted it.
Stoker flicked his ears in irritation at Poe's nudging but dutifully replied to Vana's questions. "Poe can't talk to most kitsu." He told her, deadpan. "He can make plenty of noise when he throws things around, but that doesn't count as words. So far only my older sister and I can hear him." For some reasons he couldn't seem to work up the full level of animosity he'd been feeling for Vana just moments ago.
Poe gave an open-mouthed grin, twining his tails with Stoker's.
Nirvana nodded in understanding. She crawled out of Ahote's tails and approached Poe sniffing at him curiously. Auntie Raz says he can go through people and it tickles.

Ahote nodded, agreeing with all of Stoker's explanations. "I can't hear him either," he said. "But Stoker here is really great for...tr...tran...for telling us what he means. He's cool. Poe's cool. You're cool. I'm cool. Cool! Cool!" He reappeared closer to the other kitsu. The pale kitsu nudged Stoker with his nose. "What's up? You sound...quieter than usual?"

Nirvana sat out in the open now. Her ears back she was hunched over in her shyness. Her tails around her, she looked very much like a gamma wolf in a pack would. She felt exposed with nothing to hide under or near. Her silver eyes seemed to take note of the nearest hiding place and take comfort in the fact that it wasn't far away. She wasn't so much afraid as confused. It was a lot for a kit to look at another kitsusagi and not see anything wrong with them and have to go home at night and be told she had to stay away from them. She was more afraid her mother would show up and see her here talking to them than that they would do anything wrong. Her mother had never given a reason for the rules she set beyond, you'll understand someday.

Stoker twitched an ear annoyed. Obviously Nirvana was uneasy about talking to Poe and himself. Che. Like mother and like daughter. He wouldn't say anything about it in front of Ahote though. The other kit seemed to like Nirvana or some such. He and Poe didn't know enough other kitsusagi that they could alienate the ones they did know. "Nothing's wrong with me." He shrugged in response to Ahote's question. "It's just late, that's all."
Poe affectionately stuck his head through the side of his littermate's head. There went Stoker, brooding again. What do you care what she thinks? he whispered literally into the dark kitsu's head. It's not our problem if her mom is a boring old thing. Don't be too like Sakura-oneechan.
Stoker shook his head, dislodging his brother while Poe laughed. "So what are you two doing out here?" he asked dispassionately.

Ahote shrugged, adopting a silly grin. "I dunno. I like going out without Mommy-- I mean...my...mom. And I think Noo was going to try and feed us something she made again. Good reason to run away, in any case." He cocked an eyebrow at the webbed kitsu. "Seems like every time I come around, you guys are here. You have humans, right?" The pale adolescent knew that Stoker and Poe's family was different from that of his and Nirvana's. While he could trace his family back several generations, he was sure the two brothers had no mother he could recognize. And they were raised by...who was it...Mommy's friend, who they said was their sister. He wondered if this meant they didn't have a human, either. He allowed his head to loll back and forth while trying to remember if a human had been previously mentioned.

Realizing the 'you two' comment included her she shrugged. I was eating some spaghetti auntie Raz left for me. She's asleep in the kitchen. She hesitated wondering if she should mention that her mother would be by shortly and something deep down told her it would be best to forwarn the current company. Momma is coming to get me to teach me to feesh. Raz thought it best that I eat first cause she says feesh is smelly and tastes bad. She seemed to brighten quite a bit talking about Raz. This older family member wasn't as strickt as her mother or as distant and quiet as her half sister.

"We have a human. Well, Sakura-oneechan does. Technically, she's our human too, but I've never met her. Poe?"
Head shake.
"Sakura gets along with her alright. But she doesn't really live around here and Sakura-oneechan said that her house is kind of boring. So she had the choice of staying here most of the time and visiting her human occasionally, or staying there most of the time and visiting here occasionally. Sakura-oneechan wanted us to be raised with other Kitsu."
Which works out well for us, being Kitsu, eh? Still... I'd like to met her. Maybe run around in that forest she lives in. See what a forest looks like, ya know?
Stoker nodded in agreement, uncaring or forgetting that the other two Kitsu couldn't hear what Poe said.
"I take it you both live with your humans then?"
Stoker's ear twitched in sharp annoyance when Nirvana mentioned her mother.
Poe only have a vague recollection of the other kitsusagi's mother, but could by Stoker's reaction there was no love lost. Snorting, he stuck out his tounge. We're not running.
"Thanks for the warning, I suppose. But we're not running away just because your mother has it in for us for some reason."
Ask her. Poe smirked slight, tounge still sticking out.
Stoker shrugged. "Poe wants to know why your mom doesn't like us."

She answered his question about humans with an enthusiastic nod. She much liked pangolin. It seemed that pangolin and Raz had a lot in common, though pangolin didn't run into things.
If kitsus could blush, she was blushing, but it was well hidden beneath dark fur. I... she stuttered, I don't know. She says you have the bad hourar, aroora, oroura, auroua. She gave up. Her mouth twitching in odd shapes trying to figure out how to pronounce the word properly. She says I can't play with you. Nirvana looked at her feet embarrased. auntie Raz said you're okay though... she offered trying to hide from Stoker's very real and apparent distaste of her mom.

Stoker frowned. "A bad aura? So basically she doesn't like the way we look and she's decided we're evil from that. She doesn't even know us." Although Stoker rarely showed emotion, his distaste clearly showed in his last sentance. What kind of Kitsu decided they didn't like someone when they hadn't even met them? Nirvana's mom had decided she didn't like them the moment they'd walked through the door. His ears fell back in annoyance and upset. It was hard to not be hurt when someone thought you looked evil and told people to avoid you.
Poe picked up on both Nirvana and Stoker's unhappiness. He nudged gently at Nirvana, rubbing her nose with his before leaning against his littermate and tugging at Stoker's ear. What do we care? We're beyond someone like Nirvana's mom, who's so willfully blind. Let her go through her life with her eyes closed. Maybe she'll fall off a cliff. I liked Raz though. I wouldn't mind seeing more of her. She was fun. Nirvana isn't that bad either. Maybe she'll grow up like her aunt?
Appeased, Stoker glanced over at Nirvana, face smoothing out again. "Poe said he liked your aunt too. As did I. She was nice. Do you see her a lot? Neither of us have seen her since we all met."

Ahote sat quietly, shifting haunches occasionally. Normally, he didn't keep interest in long conversations like this, but this time, it sounded...well, more important than usual. Like how Mommy talks to the other big kitsu, he thought. He didn't know what an aura was, either, but the idea was interesting. "I don't think that sounds fair!" he said, piping up, then quickly added, "No offense to your mom, Nirvana." Quickly, he circled around his three friends, stopping at each of them to look them over. "I don't know what you guys mean by 'you look different'. I don't see anything. I mean, Vana, you and Stoker have dark fur, and me and Poe are lighter, and Poe can go through things, but...but...but..." Losing his train of thought, he finished, "I don't know, do you know what I mean?"

I see her all the time. She responded about her 'aunt'. She kitsits me when momma and pangolin are busy. She's supposed to be watching me now, but she always gets distracted and runs off. Momma complains but pango says stuff that makes her not be mad. She shrugged as if in explanation that she had no understanding of what it was that pangolin and Zen talked about. She sighed heavily, she didn't like having to appologize for her mom.
I don't know either, and no one will tell me. She said firmly, showing, for the first time, all the frustration she was feeling.

((::just realized is her turn! D: Maybe we should PM each other when our turns are up. XP :: ))
Stoker put his ears forward, interested. Nirvana was frustrated with her mom too? Maybe she had more depth than he had assumed. He'd been thinking she was just a carbon copy of her Mom...
"Then ask. If people won't tell you things, all you can do it keep asking them. If someone really cares, they'll tell you. Or they'll at least tell you why they can't tell you.
Poe snorted, shaking his head.
"Oh, shut up. I mean, Sakura doesn't know why Poe and I are different. But she told us straight out that she didn't know why, she didn't blather about auras or anything. Ahote, I bet your mom told you why you can phase around and stuff. You have to make your mom tell you, Nirvana. Why it's okay for her to hate us because of what we can do, but not hate other kitsu like Ahote who can do things too." Stoker thought for a moment. "Sorry Ahote. But you know what I mean."

"Yeah, I wondered about that too," Ahote said, though the thought had never really crossed his mind. "I don't know...maybe it has something to do with the family thing again... I know my family can be traced very far back...and Vana's...well, hers not as much, but... I don't know... Do kitsu not like kitsu without blood families? That doesn't make sense. My mommy is friends with your sister." He poked a paw towards Stoker and Poe. "Also, I know why I have powers. Mommy doesn't need to tell me." The words came out proud and strong. "My daddy is a psy...kick. He has powers like me. See my forehead?" He tapped his forehead, grinning. It had not crossed his mind that the subject of 'family' might not be one of the best to bring up.
