To whom it may concern,

My family has recently learned of the great success of young Master Phantomhive and his 'duties' to the Queen. I am afraid that I have found the idea quite pleasing and have been unable to set it aside. This letter is to inform you of my intentions to procure the role of 'Queen's Dog' for myself and have the tasks involved applied to my own family name. I find it only suitable to supply you with fair warning so that you might have proper means of calling forfeit should you decide the risks of staying your ground to be too great. But I assure you, the downfall of the Phantomhive name and abandonment of its duties to the Queen will be swift. Thank you for your time in this matter.

Cordially yours,
Paige Evans

Introduction
That's right, Kuroshitsuji has reached the point where it has such a large fan base that there is no shortage of original characters wandering about. From bratty children to wild butlers there is quite the flurry of alternate Kuroshitsuji worlds out there. Time has come to celebrate the other families working hard to complete the Queen's orders and find out if the original Phantomhive family truly has what it takes to keep their title of Watchdog.

Rules
Because every group RP needs standards and we're no exception!
1.No Mary Sues or Gary Stus, really, goes without saying. This isn't a crack RP, it's meant to be indepth and interesting and experience the fun of another take of Yana Toboso's world.
2.Literate to advanced. I have nothing against people who post less, not in the least. But especially since this is a group RP we want plenty going on at all times and posts to be meaningful. You DO NOT have to post as every character you're playing at every single moment. If only two out of three of your characters can do anything worth while at the moment then only post as those two, to cut down on the amount of shrunken posts. They can be infectous after all as I'm certain we've all seen at some point.
3.Please be respectful. If you're concerned that a person may have stretched an OC to far, then PM them about it, don't make a 'loud' and boisterous statement on the thread. Sometimes a person may not realize how their character comes off as to others and will appreciate the help. Nobody appreciates being told they're doing something wrong. Same goes for a person if you think their cannon might be getting a bit OOC, this really shouldn't be an issue. Nobody is going to be perfect and if it's something extremely wild and out there for that person (i.e. Sebastian going about in a pink suit...As much as I would enjoy seeing this.) just bring it up in the same manner. Likely there's a reason to the madness...Or I should hope so XD
4.Please limit your number of OC's. If a person would like to join in as only an OC, that is fine. But that is your ONLY character. For any additional OC you wish to RP you also have to take a cannon. Three OC's? Two cannons. Simple equation.
5.Do not force your characters in. If something is going on between a few characters don't just shove your own in, be it cannon or OC. If you have a good idea and would like to join in at a time when something is already occuring, just PM one of those posting or do a little OOC chat to figure things out. This especially goes for anyone who has 'lesser' characters who appear less often in the manga/anime. Aberline for example, please don't just shove him in declaring that a dead body has suddenly popped up in the next room. Logic and order, again, this is not a crack RP.
6.Please do not just focus on your OC's. Posting five paragraphs of OC jabber and one for your cannons consistantly will be brought up. We want everyone to find cannons that they enjoy playing so that this doesn't have to be a worry.
7.Have fun! Really now, it's just an RP, enjoy yourself and don't get your panties in a bunch over anything.

How to Join! User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
It's simple! Just send me a PM with a profile of the OC or OCs that you would like to use and a list of cannons that you're open to play. I would like a list, just so we have people to fall back on if we need slots filled, but your preferred choices will always be filled in first. Cannons are also on a first come, first serve basis, so don't waste time! Please also send along a sample of an RP post or a link to a thread you've RP'd on, just for a quick verification that you are literate to advanced. That's it, you're in! We'll begin as soon as we have enough of the main cannon slots filled (maybe even as soon as Ciel and Sebastian are found) and an announcement will be made so everyone knows when to commence posting!

It was absolutely stunning. Paige had certainly imagined what the old wealth of the Phantomhive family could provide, what working for the Queen could actually do for someone. And now that she saw it? She was absolutely floored. The young woman hoped that she did not seem as shocked as she felt. She had still been getting used to the wealth of the smaller estate she now owned thanks to Darien and her disrespect for her soul. Always lusting after the family she heard so much about, the pride, the disasters, the phoenix like way they always rose up again. She wanted it and for the price of what was so precious to any human Darien had promised she could have it.

Desire only solidifying as they were taken past the grand entrance hall by the slickly dressed butler Paige carefully smoothed out the layers of her gown while his back was to her and Darien. Her demon had purposefully requested that it be a small group that accepted the young Phantomhive's invitation, leaving the shinigami he had...Bribed (as Paige did not like to say capture, they seemed perfectly content), to remain at the estate. Backup, should anything happen, though the demon had thoroughly assured her that it was nothing more than an intimidation tactic and Paige had nothing to fear from it. She only needed to be polite, follow her lessons, and act unconcerned. She also needed to leave her hair alone. Pulled into a proper bun Darien had painstakenly arranged her hair so that her contracted eye was hidden, highly determined to try and keep his own species secret. It was one of the only reasons he let another demon so near his own catch, Ornias was far less unable to fit the general mold of 'human' than himself. So long as Paige kept her eye hidden Darien's distinct mark could not be visible and the simplest assumption would be that he was the servant, Paige was the Master, and Ornias was the demon whom had nothing to lose. It provided cover for the creature that had searched them out and gave the hopefully soon-to-be Phantomhive a scape goat. Not that Ornias was ever informed that to his face.

With Darien's advice Paige made a bold statement in a dark blue and silver gown, the Phantomhive colors, the entire garment only marred by the fact that she wore flat soled shoes beneith it. She was too unaccustomed to heels and it was more important that she stand steady and proud, her height would simply be under question, but even Paige herself was not concerned with that given that her opponent was a little boy. A child. Really, it made her sick to think that someone so young and immature would actually be trusted with the lives of others. Darien had told her the stories of his life as best he knew them, gave her information on cases solved...Usually with the lives of middlemen the price for completion. Had schooled her on every aspect of the family's job so that she might be certain that it was what she wanted. Not that she could back out. Not that her soul could become her belonging again should she decide to retreat.

The halls they were led down were no less oppulent than the grand entrance hall and the walk to the parlour where it seemed the child was waiting was not far at all. It seemed forever to Paige, worried, uncertain, and concerned with keeping her confident guise in place. And as soon as the black haired butler opened up the door to the room the trip seemed entirely too fast as fear set in. Child or not, he was a Phantomhive.

Humored was one way to put the feelings of Ciel Phantomhive as the young woman walked through the parlor doors.
......Unfortunatly for her, vexed would have to be another.

"Have a seat, Ms. Evans " He gestured towards the high backed chairs that lined the enormus laquered table without so much as a glance towards his guests. He himself sat at the head of the table, every inch the image of haughty nobility with legs crossed and face set in concentration. Piles of papers, documents, and contracts (though not of he soul-barganing kind) stacked around him like a showoffy symbol of how powerful he was.

The more power, the more paperwork after all.

Quill in one hand with the other propped against his cheek, his signature was looped over the end of each letter and handed (more like thrown) to Sebastian.

......Another progress report of his factory from the Baron of Valaster....Read, sign, hand to sebastain- An invitation from the Duke of Halford to his daughter's ball.....-Read, sign, hand to sebastian- A plethora of childish scribbles and hearts from Elizabeth- Glance, crumple, accept the pointed look from sebastian- A lett-

"Young Master; Ms. Evans..?" His butler broke the chain of paperwork with a suggestive reminder(an unfailingly polite warning) towards the pair that had entered his domain.

"............" Stubborn. Arrogant. And every ounce an uptight british brat.

Ciel sure as hell knew it it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSebastian wouldn't have it.

A dark teal eye finally dragged itself to meet the two 'guests' at Sebastian's threat, eyelids lowering in apathetic boredum that might as well been ordering him to get rid of this nonsense.

"As you know, I'm very busy so please make this quick." He let out an agitated sigh as his jaw moved against the curled hand his cheek rested on. Leafing through the mini-tower of papers to accentuate his point about the booked schedule, he finally retrived the one he was looking for and plucked it out with slight tug. The letter was then slid across the mahagony plane towards Paige, almost as if as if to demonstrate how easily her threat slipped across his ego. "And with what your letter"-He nodded at the offending note-"was insinuating; please know I have no time for children's games. "

The sheer wealth and obvious grandeur displayed in the Phantomhive mansion were nothing more than ostentatious and unnecessary flaunting of power and wealth in the demon’s eyes. A symbol of prowess, a challenge to all other nobles…a statement and a challenge, it made the man smirk. A child flaunting such a challenge, it was quite interesting. The entire ordeal had piqued his interest a great deal, and he was eager to see what kind of evil noble this Phantomhive could be. A soul corrupted and tainted by sin, blackened to the point where little broke through his walls of distrust and scorn of the world, or were there still moments of childish naiveté and innocence yet? Certainly he may have acted grown up, but he was still simply…a child.

And it was still clear as Darien followed dutifully behind his mistress into the Phantomhive’s study, his eyes slated and dark as he watched carefully the miniature version…the epitome of a haughty noble, go about his business as if they had never entered the room. The corner of his mouth twitched into a slightly upturned and amused smile. He wasn’t even bothered by the threat, not in the slightest. Ah, what a show the little boy was putting on without even trying.

“We realize, of course, you are very busy. However, if we could have but a moment of your time, Earl Phantomhive?” Darien replied finally with a fluid bow; he answered smoothly from where he stood behind and slightly to the side of Paige, a perfectly practiced and perfectly fake smile on his lips as his tone of voice had the slightest hint of dry sarcasm. There was no need to apologize, nor to bend over backwards for such a disrespectful child of twelve or thirteen years of age. Of course he could see the quality of the boy’s soul plainly; his demon eyes picked up on the distinct color and quality straight away, but he had no interest. As long as this little challenge gave him a slight bit of amusement, that was all he needed. He had the promise of Paige's soul, and for the time it would suffice. In fact she had quite the little soul herself, which was part of the reason he was bothering with her request in the first place.

“My Lady Paige wishes to speak to you about the affair of this little letter. It will not take long at all, I am certain.” Again, there was that dry, almost disrespectful tone but one would have to listen closely to hear it at all…and one would have to be paying even closer attention to see the glint of amusement in his eyes as he looked from the haughty Earl to the butler at his side and back again. A demon, was it? How very interesting…

Ornias - The demon

Ornias was standing behind Paige and Darien, all he truly cared for was sitting there flaunting his own power over whom he believed to be beneath him. How he crave that soul, that boy within himself who had come so far and gone through what most adults would consider agony in at such a young age. When adults go to hell, that's normal, when children go to hell, well, that was just what he lived for.

A child was supposed to be the purest of all, not yet tainted by the outside world, and yet, within his grasp, there were two tainted children. Of course he wouldn't want Paige's soul, he scoffed at the idea. Why in the world would he want a female soul to be eaten by his own perfect male body? He didn't even want to think at the side-affects that could quite possibly happen! Especially with one who did so many demonic rituals.

He knew that the two in front of him only saw him as a pawn, a menial piece on their chess board, black versus white. He smiled to himself as he listened to them calmly dispute the letter in his contents, and let his eyes meet Sebastian's. Now that was a beautiful male. If he wasn't so busy plotting against him, he could see himself with that man. Perhaps conceive a child through ritual? Now that would be the perfect child.

He let his gaze drift over to Darien, another good looking demon. And yes, as much as they tried to hide it, he knew Darien was a demon as well, and he knew that he thought just as little of him as everyone else in the room, boy would they be surprised if they knew what he could do. Another ritual, and another perfect child. Demons of their type, Darien, Sebastian, and himself, were engineered to be good looking. To attract the weak minded fools of this earth, this country, and take their souls.

He looked up again, put on a straight face, and tried to pay attention. as much as he really didn't need to, this had nothing to do with him. He let a small sigh slip out and was tempted to say something, but kept his mouth shut, until something jumped to his mind.

"Ohohoho, never thought I'd see the day that widdle bitty Cielly Phantomhive ran off scared. And what from? A girl, her butler, and a demon, who, I'm sure you feel safe to assume, are possibly no stronger than your magnificent Sebastian, hmm?"

Well, at least he was polite...Proper, yes, that would be the better way to put it. Paige could all but see the distaste pouring from the child and it was a rather terrible thing to witness from one so young. But someone whom had such a job, that not only took it in stride but tried to further goals that only adults should ever dream of, she highly doubted that he could be normal given those circumstances. Keeping calm and relaxed as Darien had instructed her to Paige did not reach out for the letter as it was pushed towards her, she knew what it said, there was no reason to take it. Instead she simply watched, and listened, with a small smile on her features and gloved hands resting in her lap. Annoying, painful, the gown, the shoes, the hair, but all needed Darien had assured her and she had to make it look natural. This was far too good of a chance to pass up.

Glancing from Darien to Orinias the young woman tried not to let her smile grow too much. There would be no better way to get a boy to play a game other then making him think his pride was forfeit, "No, not long at all." she looked back to Ciel, keeping her easy smile in place, "In fact, you should be grateful. After all, I am here to remedy that very problem of yours with time.Give you more of a chance for proper children's games. I am certain they would suit you far better than this." She looked over the heap of paperwork before back to the child sitting in the middle of it all. So sad really...But she could not really give much pity to him. Even if events in his life had turned him into such a person he could have always forced himself to change. He had hurt far too many people and done far too many terrible things. The whole family had. Paige was smart enough to realize that the Queen's Watchdogs could not be gotten rid of, but the person heading it could certainly be adjusted.

"I would not be surprised if such a bid for your name was new Earl, so I will not be insulted by your reaction to my letter. But I would never dare send such a thing in jest. I am completely serious in my desires and, have made certain that they can be fulfilled." she gestured to Orindas to make the truthful suggestion that her soul was tied to the fate of his family's name, "And as circumstances have been adjusted to such terms, I thought it proper to discuss the matter. Perhaps give you a chance to simply agree to the offer of a vacation and go off to manage nothing more than the Funtom business, that should be more than enough to keep you busy."

He tossed a bored glance at Orinas, eyes flicking away uninterestedly as if scolding himself for giving such an idiot the time of the day. Truth to be told, he was no more surprised that Paige’s butler was a demon than he would be if someone informed him the sky was blue. You could blame it on the fact that he was still a child with a large imagination and thus a higher ability to accept the paranormal, but that did not change the fact that Ciel Phantomhive has seen a lot of s**t. His parents were murdered at the tender age of nine, he sold his soul to a demon, his aunt tried to murder him along with a flamboyant death god, and he had a devil dog (Oh not the cakes, you fool) barking around the house like the annoying mutt he was….. There was no way Ciel would credit his world view on age alone. Oh hell no. He earned it.

“We are not here to discuss a match between the two butlers that you are so perversely eyeing” He drawled out dryly as a sneer curled onto his lips. He was not blind, after all. His useable eye had been keen enough to catch the demon’s wandering gaze. “But the contents of Ms. Evan’s letter which she was to explain before you so rudely interrupted”
With that, he placed the quill aside and lifted his head from its relaxed position on his hand; sitting upright in his chair like the proper gentlemen he was raised to be. Hands folded daintily at his lap, he nodded towards the pseudo-polite servant (his passive-aggressive mannerisms were much too similar to Sebstian’s) who had spoken for his master before turning to Paige herself.

The girl was plain looking, thick hazelnut hair that fell just a bit past her shoulders in unruly waves. She had a dignified air about her; Prideful, but not with the condenscending undertone Ciel used.

All in all, another softhearted fool who thought herself wonderful enough to save the world. He could read her mind already. In her eyes he was irrisponsible with lives, too cruel and uncaring with the innocent common men he trampled over to get the job done. A rich British Brat with absolutley no comprehension for the importance of life outside his own.

Ah ha ha ha~

And boy was she was right.

" So you think you could do a better job than me?" Scoffing, he cocked an arrogant brow and snorted at her ignorance.

He was half tempted to give into her demand of his title just to watch her crumple under the weight of her own foolishness in her attempt to save each and every little soul on the job. She'd obviously screw up, save no one, fail the mission, and eventually be crushed in her later realization that you can't save everyone, and sacrifices must be made for the common good; A fact that all ignorant, self-justifying brats who tried to take over his job as the Queen's dog failed to understand.

Not that he was any different, of course.

“ If you want the title so bad, take it ” He sighed with a roll of his eye after he had listened to her 'offering', the whole speech only serving to make him realise this was not, infact, worth his time. One hand scooped the feather pen back up in his hand, the other moving to shoo them away like mere flies buzzing at his ear. "Do you honestly belive that I would waste my time trying to argue over such a distastful name? And while I'd love to rid myself of extra work, I'm obviously not going to just hand it over to incapable hands such as yours and watch you leave cases unsolved and unattended. So unless you can prove to me that you're prepared what I do on a daily basis, and your bark isn't infact louder than your bite, negotiations are off. "

Darien cast a glance at Ornias as he spoke, attempting to tease the noble into at least giving them attention and to a point it worked, along with Paige’s subtle offer. Which he expected the boy to decline outright, laugh at them and point towards the door in disgust. His eyes flicked back to watch the boy with interest as he could see the thoughts, some kind of deep contemplations play through his mind. And then he said something surprising, though only in jest. In mockery really, the boy was passing them off as idle threats, nothing to be concerned over. Incapable. The thought made the man’s lips turn up into a dark and knowing smile; If anything he was always up for a good challenge, and Ciel’s words were nothing if not a challenge to his ability. If anything was asked, it would be accomplished post haste; after all demons need not follow any rules, they made their own.

“While I see no reason we should have to prove anything, may I inquire what might constitute as worthy in your eyes, Earl Phantomhive?” With a small smile, Darien asked again without much interest, deep violet eyes searching the boy’s visible eye for any flicker or change in emotion. The boy was quite good at hiding his emotions, a very stoic and haughty expression fit for nobility. But again, there would need to be a reason for the boy’s confidence and he was eager to discover just how a simple child could become so complacent in the face of danger. Ornais had said it was Sebastian, the demon at his side. No doubt he was right, and the man's eyes flicked to the butler at the boy's side. On the surface nothing surprising; demons often aided humankind, performing terrible acts and sins without a second thought for the promise of a soul-- a meal. They were tainted creatures, and yet somehow not as evil as the humans that ordered them to do such acts in the first place, after all they were nothing but tools and they did only what they were instructed to do. Looking back to Ciel again the rumors and titles for the boy played through the demon's mind. The evil noble with the supposed cursed family line...a child of mere twelve able to speak so coldly, a child that had long since lost his innocence.

“Might I suggest a contest, perhaps? A race to see who can solve said cases first?” He cast his eyes quickly to Paige, to Ornais and back again to Paige, “Would that be agreeable?” He wasn’t asking Ciel that time, his eyes were fixated on Paige. She was the one that ultimately called the decisions of course, and he would follow as ordered. It seemed nothing more than a game of life and death, but she was yet the leader of such an important game and as required, he would be subject to listen.

Sebastian watched the exchange between his young master and the ever imposing miss Evans. And of course, this coversation should be completely between them as no servant should have the gall or arrogance to assume themselves as high as their master. As high as HIS master. As high as they might stupidly think themselves to be so that they might open speak like that to the young Ciel Phantomhive. They had no right; either of them.

They failed as butlers.

"Please excuse the intrusion," he began, keeping his eyes locked at the two demons in front of him. There was no point in hiding how much Ciel's soul was practically crying out to be taken. But to be frank, the soul?

It was his.

"If the young Miss Evans and her..." His lip twitched in the slightest manner of displeasure. "... helpers... are so, pardon my French, hell-bent and stripping the young master of his title and power, the idea of a contest does seem interesting." He tore his gaze away from his fellow monsters to his young sire, he's flashing whimsically. "If I might make a suggestion? I think the most recent case of ours might be perfect to begin with, don't you think?" He didn't wait for an answer, the moment he finished asking the question, he shifted the placement of the papers in his left hand to his right and whisked a file off desk before showing it to Paige.

"Gruesome murders, clean murders, all quite peculiar have been occuring. All corspes have either a small rip directly over a vein or have been torn completely apart. All vicitims have a full family and were all killed in locations where they could easily be found by their... loved ones. No witnesses. No screaming....

"This of course would be the perfect starting point for a young lady such as yourself. After all, I can't imagine it'd be hard to defeat a mere child...."
