It was a long hard walk and the adolescent lioness was grumpy. She wanted more then anything to find her name. So far she hadn't even met another creature and she'd been walking for for what felt like forever. Everything ached and she was hungry. She'd only been able to catch the smallest of game so far and it barely did anything to her mood.

The playful, rowdy cub she had been was slowly ebbing away from her as adulthood made its self known. She groused to herself as she padded along. The sun well into setting and she was on the prowl, searching for something to take down.

A hare caught her attention and she crouched before shooting after it, dirt and paws flying through the air as they ran.

Vu was out on patrol when the sound of a chase caught his attention. He often scouted ahead of Zito’s pack, looking out for dangerous rogues, but today the pack was resting. This gave him time to explore the area. Excited by the prospect of a fight, he broke into a run and came out over a pile of rocks just as the female went racing by.

Scars and cuts covered his muzzle, giving him a grizzled appearance. Though he was average sized for his age, a little larger than the typical rogue, thanks to his Pridelander heritage, and taunt with muscle.

The hare blasted away, scrambling to escape the claws of death. There was a short squeal of terror a the lioness put a final burst of speed into her assault. She clamed her powerful jaws around the dead rabbit's body.

Her ears went up as she caught sent on the wind. Someone else was there! Probably after her kill. She placed the dead thing back on the ground, still firmly holding it and let out a threatening growl. Her stance geared aggressively as she lifted her head slightly. "Who is it? What do you want?" She barked protective of her meal.

“Up here!” Vu called from the top of the rock pile. He bristled, grinning down at her. That rabbit would make a nice present for Mollie. Now that she was with him again he wanted to show her that he could still be her knight in shining armor. Besides he could use a good scuffle. Vu was a fighter through and through. Nothing else made him happier.

“My name is Misilivuma and I’ve come to steal your meal!” he proclaimed. He hopped down from the rocks, knocking loose pebbles with his paws and sending them clacking down the slope as he descended. He jumped off the last boulder and landed with a ripple of muscle.

She jerked her head up and stared at him. A powerful looking male for sure. At his explanation of being there her fur stood on end. She'd believed maybe a hyena might try to run her off but another lion? A male none the less!

Well she certainly wasn't submissive and if he was hoping she'd be he was dead wrong. She dropped the hair and stood over it, coiling her back legs, teeth showing. "I have no name but I'll gladly put you in your place."

She let out a roar aiming to intimidate him into backing off.

Vu bellowed in reply and charged the nameless female. He opened with false swipe at her face, testing her reflexes. After that he dodged back and tried to swipe her for real with his other paw, a big, nasty grin on his face.

Any ordinary male with a clear conscious might have thought it unsporting to attack a lioness for a meager hare, especially when he wasn’t even hunger. The thing about Vu is this: his father was often absent, leaving him to be raised by his mother, a cunning and somewhat calloused female who trained him to fight starting when he was old enough to stand on four legs. She often pitted him in mock battles against his sisters who were also training as warriors. This had been going on for as long as Vu could remember. As a juvenile he was attacked by a young Firekin lioness, leaving his face badly scarred. When he left his pride, he joined a band of rogues lead by a female cheetah, also a great fighter.

Now, not every female Vu ever met was a great warrior. Only the ones closest to his heart could hold their own in a fight. He simply assumed this was true for everyone. In fact, as a cub, he would occasionally pick on females his age under the assumption that they would fight back and, when they did not, he assumed it was only because he was so strong.

It wasn’t that Vu was stupid. He was just naive.

The sudden attack startled her. She didn't expect him to actually attack! What was the point! She feigned away from his first strike. Not realizing it to be false. What he had in training as a warrior she did not and it clearly showed when he managed to snag her across the face with his claws.

She let out a painful snarl and went into a fit, shaking her head as if to dislodge the pain. Once she had a hold on it her eyes flashed with anger. He hit her! How DARE he! What had she done to deserve such treatment!

Her lips drew back and she lunged. While she was no warrior she was no stranger to how to take something down. She could hunt after all. She let her claws fly at the top of his head, aiming for his eyes before drawing back to aim an attack at his neck which was still young and unprotected by his mane.

She seemed surprised. That was funny. Vu’s quick reflexes saved him from another scar as he ducked and swatted her paw aside. He doubled back and tried to lunge at her shoulder, hoping to grapple her and bite down on the side of her neck and use his weight to push her to the ground. He didn’t plan on breaking her skin with his bite. At least, not too deeply. The fight wasn’t that serious – it was only a rabbit after all – and he was more interested in rough housing than drawing blood. To Kanoni, it probably didn’t seem that way.

To Kanoni Vu's attack was outright aggression. She had no idea he just wanted to tustle. If she had known that she might have accepted it. Playedd his game but now she had her meal on the line and a male lion forcing her to the ground.

She struggled, raking her back legs at him in attempt to claw his stomach to get herself released. When his teeth sank down against her shoulder she didn't give the though to the fact he hadn't actually hurt her. She just retaliated and clamped her lonng sharp fangs down against the front of his shoulder, still aiming for his neck.
