5/5
All I can really say for this film is wow... Just wow. This is Peter Jackson at his finest folks.
Story: What happens when you take the cliche' "Aliens land on Earth" movie and flip the question... What if we were the bad guys? Awesomeness. The film follows the life of Wikus, a man working for a government organization known as MNU, that has been placed in charge of the eviction of the alien life forms known as "Prawn" from District 9. The prawn are a shrimp like alien race stranded on Earth after their mothership fails to operate. Wikus is sent in with mercenary operatives of MNU when something goes horribly wrong.
I don't want to spoil the story. I will say this though. It's an exact representation of what the government would do if given such a situation... And somehow you still don't see it coming.
Special Effects: Top notch... But did you really expect anything less from Peter Jackson?
Audio: I wouldn't go out and buy the soundtrack any time soon. It wasn't terrible... But it wasn't anything to remember. It just gets the job done.
Acting: I cannot for the life of me remember the names of any of the actors... Which is sad... Because there were only like maybe one or two. The rest of the characters are all CGI. Still. It was pretty well done. Pretty convincing.
If you're a fan of sci fi. For God's sake do not miss this film while it is still in theaters under any circumstances. You will not be disappointed.
Just a fair warning. This movie drops the F-Bomb quite a bit (Although Wikus has a heavy accent). There's some pretty graphic violence (that's the best kind!) as well as some sexual themes, but it all adds to the intensity of the moment, keeping you on edge.

It was a very good movie. The matriarch agrees. She just says there were too many "F's" in the movie. The ending was very well done. I like how they played the movie out and the cinematography was well done.

 ~~~ I just found out something very interesting about this movie that I felt some people might want to know:
The movie was just released in Johannesburg, Africa (the setting of the film) a few weeks ago. It was met with both adoration, and hatred. It turns out, not too long ago, there was an actual place called District 5 outside of Johannesburg, much like District 9 in the film, and it housed the tribal Africans that lived in the area before the city had been built. The treatment of the people in District 5 was horrendous. This led a lot of people to either become seriously offended, or appreciative of an allegorical story akin to the actual events in that city. Also, the whole 'voodoo' consumption of alien flesh offended many people there who are descendants of, or are, believers in voodoo and tribal medicine.
Just thought you'd like to know ^^~~~
