It wasn't fair to say Kaede was nervous. He was the epitome of peaceful -- that was his keyword, the word given to describe his entire being. To say he was nervous was against that completely, and would undo everything he knew about himself. So... he didn't say it.
Tonight was his first date with Xin Yue, and needless to say, he wanted everything to be perfect. In the last day or so he had called Rose, made reservations at a restaurant, called Rose again, called a flower place, called the restaurant again to make a few changes... all done calmly and peacefully, of course. Now everything was ready, and all he needed to do was pick her up and hope everything went well. It was one of those things you really couldn't plan very well, whether or not your date would have fun -- he hoped everything would go ok.
Brushing off his new shirt, Kaede glanced in the mirror once, looking himself over before heading out the door. He had decided to tie his hair back in a small, neat ponytail at the back of his neck, hoping it would look better than his usually loose look. He had also convinced Nata to come with him to buy a new shirt, one he was actually exceptionally pleased with -- it was an oriental design, white with an embroidered koi near the bottom, the cuffs and knots done in a beautifully patterned red and black. Overall he was rather pleased with how the look came out. So, taking a deep breath an exhaling softly, he headed towards the door, grabbing Nata's keys (which she had generously lent to him) and got into the car, heading over to Rose's place.

Xin was anything but peaceful, currently running around the house, searching for things she needed. Rose was also helping, gathering her daughter's fan, purse and hair clip as the CNY Rat slowly came down the stairs. Rose happily smiled back at her, looking beautiful in her new gown that the mother and daughter had bought just for this special occasion.
"You look like starlight itself Xin Yue." Rose mentioned as her daughter loomed slightly above her in her heels. The Rat leaned down as the woman attached her heart clip to her hair, straightening a few pieces before Xin stood back up fully. "Is it...normal to be nervous?" she inquired, twisting a finger around her bag and fidgeting a bit. Rose nodded and held the Rat's hand with care. "There's nothing to be nervous about. Two friends, going out for dinner together, is something you should treasure."
Xin nodded, giving her guardian a tight hug before sitting down on the couch and peering out the space between the windows' blinds. Rose smiled softly and sat next to her as they waited the man of the hour.

Kaede glanced at a piece of scrap paper in his hand before peering out the window at the number above the house, making sure he had the right place before folding it up, tucking it away and climbing out of the car, heading up to the front door, forcing himself to be calm.
He had found Xin to be very attractive ever since the first moment he laid eyes on her. Of course, who wouldn't? She was the Valentines Hyte -- naturally she would be everything that was wrapped up in that romantic holiday. Beautiful, giving, loving -- he was sure that he couldn't find one single person in the whole world who didn't or wouldn't adore her. But as if that wasn't enough, Kaede found a deep-seeded interest, not only in her amazing personality and good looks, but in her nationality. The oriental dress that fit perfectly over her form fascinated him, and only enhanced her beauty for him. Being Japanese, he had always felt a little lonely, even with his batchmates -- he couldn't imagine how the little chinese rat felt.
But he would change that. Their friendship had just started to blossom.
Sighing a little, the koi hyte knocked on the door a few times before settling back a bit, holding a small plastic box in his hands.

The knock at the door brought the heads of both Rose and Xin Yue around the corner to see the figure of Kaede outside the door. The women both ran around the corner before looking at each other, laughing as the older woman opened the door to let Kaede in. "Welcome to our home Kaede. Please come in." she replied, waving a hand into the house. Xin nodded, walking up and giving her friend a light hug. "It's so nice to see you again." she smiled, moving back into the hallway.
Rose agreed, noting his formal attire. "You look wonderful this evening Kaede." Xin, puffing her cheeks, became flustered. "Of course he looks wonderful Mom! He's just as handsome as he is normally..." she said, cheeks flushed as she spoke. "Alright dear." Rose smiled with a kind grin. "You two enjoy your evening!" With that, she disappeared back into the kitchen and Xin turned to her friend. "Sorry about that, Rose has been pretty helpful through all of this though." she smiled, before her eyes turned to the box in Kaede's hand. "I'm sorry...I didn't get you anything."
Suddenly Rose appeared around the corner, placing a small box in Xin's hand before giving her daughter a wink and vanishing back into the kitchen. Looking down at the box and then back at the other Hyte, she chewed on her lip for a moment. "Well...I guess I was mistaken." she noted, opening the box to reveal a flower with a pin inside. She pulled it out, holding it with her hands gently as she looked back up at him. "I guess, this is for you then. Can I...pin it on you?" she inquired, lifting it to his chest and looking back at him.

Kaede blinked as the door to Rose and Xin's home swung open, revealing the former of the two standing just inside the doorway, looking amused at something, although what it was he couldn't tell. Still, it brought a small smile to the Koi Hyte's face, the good mood certainly contagious. "Thank you, Miss Rose," He responded with a light laugh, stepping inside the house and looking around for a moment, "Your home is quite lovely. Thank you for inviting me... as well as allowing me to take out your daughter."
He said this last line with a light flush, the butterflies in his stomach threatening to escape. In the corner of his eye he noticed the tiniest movement of something pink, and immediately he turned to see Xin Yue approaching, greeting him with a hug. She looked stunning, and he couldn't help but let his eyes travel along the soft lines of the dress, taking her in before giving her a warm smile, as well as a small bow. "Miss Xin Yue... you look... amazing," He replied, trying not to sound too nervous, although he caught himself mid-sentence, "I mean! Not to say you don't always look amazing..."
Oh dear. Well, that went well.
Straightening up, Kaede offered her a weak smile, which faded into a mildly surprised one as Rose handed Xin a box, a flower inside. At this, he couldn't help but grin, sliding the ribbon off his own plastic box to reveal a white rose corsage, accented by tiny pink carnations. "Only if I may slide mine onto your wrist for you," He replied with a smile, extending his hand, palm up.

"It's a pleasure, Kaede." Rose replied as she let him into the hall and smiled back at the Hyte. "Thank you very much for the compliments but it's Xin who you should thank. I have no qualms with who she decides to date but it's a pleasure to know it's such a kind Hyte as yourself." She nodded before moving back to the kitchen to prepare one final surprise for the two Hytes.
As Xin walked up and hugged Kaede, she smiled and shook her head. "I understood what you meant Kaede and please, you don't have to add a "Miss" to my name, we're both friends here." she added with a smile.
Rose reappeared with the box from the kitchen and gave it to Xin with a wink before disappearing back to where she came. Xin held the box she'd been given with a hand, nodding as she attached Kaede's corsage to his outfit with care. "Of course you may!" she replied, putting one of her hands forward to allow him to do so.
As she watched, a camera moved towards the side of the kitchen's entryway and snapped a few silent photos to remember this occasion by before vanishing back to where it came. Rose wanted to remember the evening by for both Xin Yue and herself, hoping that the evening would go for the best for everyone.
