Dragan
There are three types of Dragan; the Wyvern, Ciao, and Tradtional.
Wyvern: A subspecies with no front legs and very large, powerful wings. Many have extra joints in the wings and claws at the ends of the bones so they can pick things up and hold them. Also, they do have back legs, which are normally quite muscular to support the weight of the wyvern. from childhood to adolescence, they average fifteen meters from tail tip to nose. Due to the way they hold themselves, it is difficult to measure height.

Ciao: Pronounced "Chow", this class of Dragan, has no wings. They consist of a long, flexible snakelike body and four to six small legs with long talons. many are masters of the Wind element, so they can fly by their magic, but most rely on their extremely quick little legs. Often, Ciao have antlers and manes. They can be up to two hundred feet long but often don''t go above seven feet from toe to spine.

Traditional: The typical Medieval-style Dragan, with four strong legs and two wings at the shoulders. Most have a spike, spade, or other attachment at the end of the tail. Many have horns. From nose to tail, they can be up to eighty feet in length and twenty feet from head to toe. Wingspan is sixty to eighty feet full-grown.

All Dragan possess magical control of either fire, earth, air, or water. This power grows as they age and does not have a peak or decline. Usually, no Dragan is more powerful elementally than another of its age. There is little discrimination, though sometimes those with flashier scales or bodies will consider themselves above the masses. Due to centuries of living at high altitudes and flying for long durations, Dragan have very large lungs and powerful hearts. Thus, their bodies are not affected by the extremely thin air.

Gryphons
The self-proclaimed Kings of the Sky, these large animals have always lived on high peaks. They have large heads and are known for sharp beaks and talons. Gryphons are majestic, proud beasts with the upper body of a bird of prey and the lower of a big cat. Coloring can range indefinitely. Average adult size is forty feet from tail tip to beak and wingspan can be forty to fifty feet. They are of high intelligence and were predators of the Dragan before the Awakening. Originally they stayed far away from their former prey until the era leading up to and during the Templais war. During this time, they allied with the Dragan against the Rocs and Darklings. Known for their long talons and sharp beaks, these artistic minds share Doxa Lanx with the scaled ones. They all have a love of literature and linguistics, though many have chosen to pursue a more active life as warriors. Gryphons also harness elemental control, but they're race is only born with either air or fire power.

Phoeni
Also called Phoenixes, these birds also preyed on the Dragan before the Awakening. They are large fowl, maybe three meters tall at the head with average wingspan of seven feet, and often have an outer layer of magical fire feathers. These thoughtful fowl remained neutral during the war, preferring to observe and learn to avoid future conflict. Due to the neverending cycle of life, death, and rebirth, Phoeni are extremely long-lived and acquire a contemplative attitude that makes them exceptional advisers and mentors. They also live among the Dragan, but many choose to live on the Mountain's eastern face instead.

Darklings
And gathering in strength, moving for Doxa Lanx, are the Darklings. They are rumored to come from the deep chasms in the far Southlands, but others say they really are creations of the Dark Drakkan.
Darkling is the collective term for all of the repulsive creatures from the Southern Realms. Classified, there are Nagas, Tais, and Sgorrla. Naga are those with the lower body of a snake or worm and the upper of a vulture, Tais are massive scorpions, and Sgorrla are swift black wolflike creatures with ram horns. Among these three types are many other mutations. No Darkling can fly, which was one of the deciding factors in the Templais War.
