I was on Perez Hilton last night when I read the artical (its not up anymore) but apparantly warner brothers has gotten the rights to make an american version of the movie and RPattz is in negotiations to play Light.
I could actually see him playing that role very well, adding some depth to him.
((and extra Zachary Quinto will be playing L *fangirl scream*))
Do you think he can redeem himself from playing Eddykins Cullen and move on to a much better series?

I hope so. Even though I'm technically sick of everyone (general everyone) talking about how "hawt" he is, I'd rather see him in more roles than just the well-known Twifail.
Because being typecast is one helluva curse. And who'd want to be typecast for Twifail? Sounds like one living nightmare there. *shudders*

As much as i hate him, Zac effron should play light cause he just looks the part.
L though Zachary Quinto ******** SPOK???no. Hes too old.

Curtis Danko I hope youre kidding. As much as i hate him, Zac effron should play light cause he just looks the part. L though Zachary Quinto ******** SPOK???no. Hes too old. THERE IS NO REDEEMING ROBERT PATTINSON AFTER TWILIGHT Im not a really big fan, but RPattz does have talent. I liked him in harry Potter and Little Ashes he didnt get the role, the other actors up for the part as light are Chace Crawford, some disney channel actor (hes that blonde guy from Sunny with a chance) And Zach Quinto is only in his late twenties others up for L are Guy Richies (the mac guy!) the home alone kid (hes in his 20's now)

*sigh* You kids and your new-age anime.
Count me out of this. As much as I love Zachary Quinto, this is one movie I will not going to see. These new animes have wayyyyyyyy too much hype for what they are really worth.

I don't care about his acting talent; I know eleven year olds that look more like Light, than Robby.
Also, the rumors have been off and on for ages now, there's really no telling.
I think I'd see it because I never liked Light. Show some random kid an episode in the middle of Death Note without telling them what it's about, and they'll like Light. I didn't (er, well, I thought L was a vampire, no joke).
I'm not that much into Death Note anymore. I'll only see it if it has Mello in it, probably.

I think RPatz would be pretty good at being Light. RPatz can definitely redeem himself with this role.
(BTW, did anyone hear the rumor about 4 years ago that Elijah Wood was supposed to play Eragon? [Which, the movie wasn't that good. I loved the book.] My friends and I had so much fun pretending to be Frodo and Eragon at the same time. [We're literature nerds. And anime nerds.])

I still vote for Efron... he's already got the "BWAH HAH HAH I AM GOD" personality down, and the creepy "I'M UP TO SOMETHING AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS"-grin.
For some reason, I think Rpattz would be more suited for Matsuda xD
