Each month, I'm going to pick a D&D book that I really like, and post it here along with a quick description. The idea is to get new players interested in specific books, since each book has little extras that can add to the game.

I have no timeline for when each book will be posted, but it will be approximately once a month.

Book of the Month: October

???

Since the next month happens to be October, we're going to be interrupting our look at the "Complete" series to delve into a different, maybe even scary book... Intrigued? Come back in October to find out!

Anyone have any suggestions for next month's book? I do plan on having only single books featured after August.

Do they have to be D&D based books? Or can they be of diffrent genre and type?

Well, it has to be a D&D book. That's the point of this thread - to get people familiar with the books. I was thinking of going for either Complete Arcane or Complete Divine, but I'm not sure which, and I figured it might be better to start off with suggestions from members.

...Oh well, I guess I'll just have to come up with something myself... Not Draconomicon even though I'm really tempted to put that one up. Erm...

Dragons? eek

Probably Complete Arcane would be your best bet; spell-slingers are a popular bunch. Or perhaps the Spell Compendium then? That's a nice expansion on the PHB.

Best to save the Book of Vile Darkness for October razz

I enjoyed the Forgotten Realms Handbook, especially since I could relate much of the campaign to the Drizzt series.

It was nice to create a Drow character off of the Race section, instead of scrapping things off of the Monster Manual.

Oh yeah, I could go for the Forgotten Realms Handbook. I'm not very familiar with it, but I could still do a brief description... Then BoVD for October sounds good. twisted

But BoVD is sort of advanced, so maybe it'll have to wait til next October. Perhaps I'll go for something a little less scary... Maybe Fiend Folio.

Well since this is the "Drizzt dourden" guild, and are close attuned to drowish things. i think "The Underdark" Would be a fantastic book to be given its own month.

Oh, yes! Thanks for the suggestion. I had actually forgotten about Underdark. There's also the Drow of the Underdark book, which is newer than Underdark, but they don't overlap enough as far as I know to consider them two separate books.

well "The Underdark" deals with the Forgotten realms specifically. but "Drow of the Underdark" is a broad spectrum for "Basic" D&D. i have neevr read Drow of teh underdark, so im kind fo guessing.

Now if you want to make an oldy but goody a "book of the month" then go for the old AD&D2e Module "Drizzts guide to the underdark" but since "The underdark" is 3.x it is far more updated, but only one has drizzts face on the cover ^_~

Yeah, I'd rather stick to 3.0 and 3.5 books. Which reminds me, I need to update this!
