The girl had traveled a long ways without much question, Sarah undoubtedly noticed as she finally reached the harbor and the water in Harbor South. In all honesty, it was instinct that brought her here because she hadn’t eaten in a few days and the hunger damaged her psyche to let her feline tendencies to take over. She scanned the water below her thoroughly, growing a little nervous as her reflection stared back at her. She didn’t really like what Bastet had done to her, but she was nonetheless grateful because she took the girl from her old home and made her realize who she was, even though she didn’t want to believe it at first.

Her self-pity would not last long, however, because her eyes had spotted a fish in the water and her body reacted by lunging before her mind could process the situation. Soon, she had a rather sizable fish in her hand and a few stares from pedestrians, but she didn’t give them any mind and she bit into her catch. It took a few minutes, but the fish was soon hungrily devoured and she tossed away the remains in the nearest place she could find.

He had wanted an excuse to get out of the house. Faylen still felt awkward about walking in on Mr. Vale and Quinn that night- it had left him with uncomfortable questions and feelings... though the tumult was settling down overall since he'd spoken with Mr. Writ. It was funny how ice cream could make you feel worlds better.

Still, he was up early this morning and out.

Faylen didn't usually find himself around Harbor South and he hadn't even been thinking about going there when he first took off. He wasn't sure why he ended up here- he just had a sort of feeling that maybe he should get out and explore today. After not listening to his gut the last few times and encountering general horribleness as a result, Fay figure maybe he should humor those twinges for once. Plus, traveling to there would mean sticking to the alleys and the fire escapes and while he was rather adept at alley travels, his fire escape and rooftop travel could use some practice.

He eventually made it to the harbor without falling off any escapes. Maybe today would be a good day. The boy closed his eyes and let a breeze blowing in from the water brush over his face. He felt much more at ease here around the water, for whatever reason. He thought he remembered once, long ago, that he had visited the harbors (with his family? A class trip?)... but the event was fuzzy and blurred. He opened his eyes...just in time to see a girl savage a fish.

A raw fish.

Oh gross, gross, GROSS! He winced a little, standing a distance away. He felt that warm tingling feeling rise up from his feet to his chest- another godling? He approached slowly- so far, he'd met only nicer and helpful players but eventually, he'd have to meet one that was not-so-nice so it never hurt to be cautious at first.

"Um, guten tag." he started. He wasn't very good at the whole 'making conversation' thing. Especially with someone who had just eaten a raw fish like a starving street dog. "If...you are hungry, I know vhere you could get food..."

Sarah jumped at the sound of another person’s voice. Simultaneously spinning around and staring down the elder boy, her look instantly softened into curiosity when his face came into view. “… A godling…?” She then realized that he looked a little disturbed, and guessed he saw her eat the fish that was now gone. “Oh… Ur, sorry about that.” The godling said with a sheepish grin. “Just a little side effect." Her attention then turned to the boy's odd features. "So, you’re like me, huh? I guess you couldn’t really get scales normally…”

Faylen was not an intimidating godling. He was eleven years old and a little short for his age. The pink shirt he had reclaimed from the laundry probably did not do much for his ferocity either. The bruises that peppered his face and the scrapes on his knees left exposed by jean shorts (it had been too hot for full pants these last few days!) showed he wasn't the world's greatest fighter or most coordinated boy. At least, though he was older, he wasn't intimidating.

He looked at the girl, noting the tail and the weird ears. Yeah, even if he didn't get that weird squirmy-tingly feeling that told him he was near a player, he'd have been able to tell the girl was different. There was something else too...the way she was shaped? She looked somehow more...curvy than other girls, almost. Not fat but...different. It was peculiar and made the boy want to blush, almost. In the back of his mind, he could hear Ayida-Weddo chuckle.

He nodded slowly as Sarah spoke. A side effect? He thought back to the book on snakes he'd taken out from the library and frowned a bit. Snakes ate mice. He hoped he didn't end up with a desire to chew on rats. He shuddered inwardly at the thought. He'd...just stick with stale chips and canned food as long as he could, thank you very much.

"It is okay. Zhe powers...zhey make us strange." he remarked. That was an understatement. He nodded at her next comment, looking down at his sneakers. "Um...ja. I am a player too." he murmured, rubbing a finger over his scales subconsciously. He didn't much like his scales. He'd gotten used to them but...but they were the reason he had run away, the reason why he couldn't go home now...

Oh well, no use in thinking about that. He had enough to worry about without those old thoughts.

Oh! Introductions! He straightened up and gave a respectfuly bow. "My name is Faylen. It is nice to meet you." he said, greeting the same way he'd greeted Tepin back at the party. He wasn't as stiff this time around, though. Older women made him nervous, but girls around his age or younger he got along with fairly well.

When they weren't chasing him around the playground and kissing him, that is. Girl drool and lipstick were not his friends.

Sarah quickly shifted her eyes to the side when she felt him staring, trying to look at a garbage can or something. She was already used to it when she was Ray, but she certainly wasn’t going to beat the crap out of a godling just because they were staring at her. Trying to find something to say to get him to stop staring at her, she stammered her words. “H-hey… Um… Take a picture or something like that… Uh…” The girl turned a bright red as she found her words to be somewhat provocative. “Uhh…. Just, well, stop staring.” She said bluntly, trying her best not to sound offensive. “I-I know I’m weird, I just don’t like people staring like that-- it’s unnerving…”
Extremely glad that he found another topic other than her odd shape, she jumped at the chance to change the topic. “O-oh! Nice to meet you, Faylen. I’m Sarah.”

The girl swore she had heard an accent like that back where she used to live. She tried to remember, but nothing came up. “Hey, uh… What kind of accent is that, by the way? I swear I’ve heard it before.”

He blushed even more when he realized that she was uncomfortable with him looking at her. Ah, ah! He hadn't meant to stare! He's was just...she caught his attention... Oh, now he felt bad! He didn't like people staring at him or his scales, after all, so he knew how uncomfortable it could be. "Ah, I didn't mean to...you just...you look a little different zhen zhe girls at my school...it's not bad!" he stumbled, his accent thickening as he got more nervous.

He swallowed, managing a nervous smile for introductions. "Sarah. It is a nice name."

A the topic of his accent, his face reddened a touch once more and he shifted. He didn't much like his accent. Having spoken to Mr. vale made him feel a little better- it made him feel less alone to know someone else talked strangely- but he still couldn't shake all the feelings of awkwardness.

"Um, German." he answered. "Mr. Vale zhinks zhat since ve speak our mother tongue a lot at home, it makes my accent vhen I speak English more easy to hear."

“Ah… Um…” The girl stammered her words again, now completely dumbfounded because he said that she looked a little different than the other girls. Just to think, only a few months ago it was that she didn’t look like a normal boy, and then all this stuff with the Game started, and…
She straightened up a little, trying to purge those thoughts from her mind. “Ah, well… I kind of… Uh… Matured early… And everything with… Being a cat… So…” She couldn’t seem to get her words straight, but she was trying her best to make it sound somewhat like a normal sentence. “So… Yeah.”

Sarah smiled when he did, trying to make everything a little less awkward. “Uhh… Thanks. Same with Faylen.”
“German, huh?” Maybe it wasn’t as familiar as she thought. “Hm, never heard of it before. I guess I don’t know it, after all.” She grinned. The girl tried to make sense of what he was saying about his accent. “Oh… So this Mr. Vale speaks the same way you do? Cool.”

Matured early? He canted his head a bit, not sure what that meant. Faylen...was sheltered. The most he learned about were the little snatches they told the boys in his class in Health class. He didn't get to learn what the girls were told that made them blush and whisper so, or what was in the pink baggies they carried out and refused to share with the boys...

He glanced at her again, trying to be brief so as not to cause more discomfort. Matured...that was another word for growing up, right? She didn't much look like his sister- who was certainly grown-up- but...Elissa was much older. He supposed there were a few similarities, though he could quite pin down what.

"Vell, at least you don't haf scales..." he offered as consolation.

He shifted a bit. "Oh, you do not haf to be nice. I do not like my name much. It's veird." he said, crinkling his nose. His mother, at the time, had been aiming for 'exotic'. Unfortunately, it came off as being more 'weird' than anything.

He nodded at the topic of his language. "Ja, it is a good language." he said happily. "Oh, Mr. Vale does not speak zhe same language. He speaks..." A pause while he thought back. "...Romanian. It is also a good language, though. But even so, his w's end up sound like v's like mine do!"

“Nope, traded in scales for my tail and some messed up ears.” She shook her head with an exhausted smile, and she could hear Bast laughing at her again. Sometimes it was odd living with a strange, messed up in the head Goddess telling her what to do.

Sarah smiled again at the boy. “Well, I like Faylen, at least. It sounds cool to me.”
Scratching her chin in thought for a while about the talk of language and accents, the girl finally decided to speak again. “Huh… So ‘German’ and ‘Romanian’ are two different languages, but they both sound similar?” She could feel her head tilt a little bit on its own in the confusion. “… That’s weird.”
