Entering the nearest Pokemon Center, you take your Pokemon to Nurse Joy for them to be healed. "Of course. I'll take your Pokemon for a bit." she replies kindly and takes your Pokemon to the med room with her.

You take a seat in the waiting room and begin to read a magazine. 30 minutes later, you are still reading, but begin to wonder what is taking so long. Another 30 minutes later and you are becoming anxious. You pick up another magazine and begin to read it, occasionally glancing to the doors of the med room. An hour and half goes by and you have read through two more magazines but still no word from Nurse Joy. Worried for your Pokemon, you stand up and make your way to the med room doors, attempting to take a peek inside. You are stopped by a Chansey nurse and ushered back to the waiting area.

3 hours have gone by at this point and you are beginning to fear the worst. Finally, you hear the doors open and Nurse Joy emerges, looking quite frazzled, but in no way alarmed or worried. Quickly you rush over to her and ask about your Pokemon. "They're fine, dear." she replies quickly, though her voice sounds more questioning than anything else. Noticing this, you ask her if she is certain nothing is wrong. "I'm sure, dear, but it's the strangest thing. Your Pokemon has contracted Pokerus, but we can't seem to get a blood sample to study it." she replies, offering the most inoffensive reply she can think of.

Never having heard of this 'Pokerus' before, you ask the pink haired RN what that means. "It's a harmless viral infection of a Pokemon's muscles which, rather than hinder it's growth, accelerates it." she explains. "But we don't know that much about it due to the infrequency of the infection rate. However, it seems that an epidemic has broken out worldwide recently, with Pokemon contracting the virus near constantly anymore. Normally this would be a natural occurrence, much like Chicken Pox in humans, especially considering Pokemon can only contract the virus once in their lives, but the frequency is completely unheard of." she explains.

"And what's more, this is a completely new strain of the virus. It won't spread to your other Pokemon as the normal strain would and it should recover in a week or less." she finally tells you. With your fears finally put to rest, you kindly request that she return your Pokemon to you. "Of course. My apologies for keep you so long." the young woman replies as she turns to retrieve your Pokemon.

After having them returned, you leave the Center and decide that you may as well make the most out of your Pokemon's "sickness".

Ok folks, that's the story behind this event. Basically, I'm introducing the random "Epidemic" event from this point on. Every now and then, I'll throw one of these threads up and you just need to show up and follow the rules to participate. Speaking of, the rules may change each time I do this, so keep your eyes peeled for the changes.

Now then, as for what this event is all about, it's exactly as the story says. A Pokerus epidemic has broken out worldwide with a whole new strain of the virus. You are the trainer in the story and one of your Pokemon has become infected with this new strain of virus. In order to participate, follow these rules.

Rules:
1. Roll 1 6-sided die.
2. Roll 1 more 6-sided die.(Separate posts)
3. The first number rolled will be the infect Pokemon in your Party.
4. The second number rolled will be the number of days the Pokemon is infected. Rolling a 1 will be 2 days.
5. Place a ♥ next to the Pokemon that is infected so we know this Pokemon has contracted Pokerus once already.(Alt + 3 is the code for ♥)
6. Make sure you state the Infected Pokemon so we mods can monitor it during it's infection period.
7. In your first post, say "Magic Carp Lips" so I know you read the rules.

Now then for a full explanation of how this will work.

Roll 2 six sided dice, a separate post for them both. The first die will determine the Pokemon in your party that will be infected. The second Die will determine the number of days the Pokemon is infected. Rolling a 1 will be 2 days.

Now, once this has been determined, place a ♥ next to the infected Pokemon from then on so everyone knows this Pokemon has been infected already. As for what it does, for the duration of the time the Pokemon is infected, it will gain +2 Exp points every hour. So, whether you are logged in and rping or not, the Pokemon will gain +48 exp every day.

Note: This event may or may not be continued depending on whether or not you, as the members can follow the rules without abusing this privilege. You have been warned and I take no responsibility for you not reading the fine print.

Well, Techie. To answer your questions, yes you can add it all together at the end.

And Pokerus is a very rare addendum to a Pokemon's coding in the game that only appears on 1 in several thousand Pokemon. In other words, it's a 1 in ??? thousand chance that any Pokemon you catch can have it. In the ten years I've been playing Pokemon, I've had a Pokemon contract Pokerus once, if that gives you an idea of the rarity. I've seen four Shinies, pre-D/P/Pt in the same time span.

And when I first read the post, I thought it would only take place after we get to the Pokecenter. Heh, with our group, it might be a while.

And on a related detour in topic, the only time I got Poke'rus was on my Silver version. And back then, no one knew what it was, so I had no clue what to do. It was a Blissey that contracted it, I recall. I had asked all my friends, and even checked online, but it was still while the game was relatively new, so no one knew what it was or what it did.

Now in all my newer games, I cannot get it...

I have a Feebas on my Pearl that I transferred from my brother's Ruby that had Pokérus, and I had no idea what that little smiley face meant. I thought their was something wrong with it. xD;
