He had her word, or her thought rather, that she would come back before the moon had sunk into the trees. If not, he would come find her, and while he would never hurt her, he had felt deeply scared at the possibility that she wouldn't return.
She travelled far enough, but made sure that the final tendrils of Ghede's mind were still able to tickle about in her own brain. They would know if the other was in trouble, but if Shiva were to run into another wolf again, the wolf wasn't likely to find out Ghede and Shiva's home.
The moon was just coming up now, and firebugs danced around the small spotted pup. She grinned and yawned wide - Ghede had become nocturnal just to satisfy her natural yearning for the night. She had just awoken not long ago, and was now a good bit away from their den. Everything was bathed in a blueish light, and shadows held interesting features. The youngling crept under bushes and winded her way through vines, occasionally pouncing into a group of firebugs. They were so fascinating with their bright lights - they looked like stars!
Once she stretched out, it didn't take long for the wolf to find and kill a small rabbit, and now she lay with its lifeless body between her paws, enjoying her breakfast. She closed her eyes contentedly as she chewed, and let her mind wander.

 Reaumer was a cautious wolf, especially during the dark of the night. His red fur blended well with the shadows, though the white parts of his pelt did stick out. He was wary of the dangers but he knew given the right motivation he'd do something.
Right now, he wasn't quite sure what to do. He yearned to have pups to look after. Other wolves to guide, to take under his paws so to speak. He could teach them things, things he was never quite assertive enough to really do.
Sniffing in the air, Reaumer could smell the faint scent of blood. Small prey blood. Perhaps a squirrel or rabbit? It was too far away for him to tell quite yet. Deciding to investigate, Reaumer padded into the direction of the scent, making sure he was downwind. He reached the point where the scent was stronger and saw that it was the scent of rabbit blood. Curious.
Reaumer padded closer to the scent, still downwind of the source. He smelled now another wolf, a younger scent. Once closer, he manuevered around the vines and bushes until he saw the blood and the spotted form. It seemed to be a young pup.
A young pup? Alone?! Out in the dark where it could be harmed? That wasn't good.
"Hey, pup. What are you doing here and alone?"

The kid's ears perked suddenly. Something was coming! She struggled to keep her focus clear, to keep calm and not send too much Ghede's way. She didn't want him to come running over nothing, after all.
From her experience with the green wolf a time before tonight, she knew this feeling was distinctly wolf, and male. He felt friendly for now, but she would keep her guard up - he was definitely coming her way, and with interest!
She opened her eyes - and broke her concentration on his mind - as he came into view. He was a stunning blood red, with inky black and stark white markings. She smiled as she stared at him, drinking in the view. Amazing.
"Hey there." she answered, standing up. "I was just eating, would you like some?" she asked politely, and made to nose the rabbit closer to him. There was no reason to comment on the 'alone' part for now. She was physically alone, but... Ghede could easily be called into play with one negative feeling thought in his direction. She always made sure to stay within the range that they could 'hear' each other.

Reaumer paused once he was fully in the pup's sight. He didn't want to startle the young one. Once the pup spoke, he knew it was female. Now this was most concerning, where were the pup's watchers? The mother? The father?
Reaumer considered the rabbit the little one offered. He was quite full but he didn't know if it would be too rude to reject the offer. "Sorry little miss, I'm full. Save it."
Reaumer noticed the little pup avoided answering why she was alone with no one to watch after her. "My name is Reaumer. What's yours?"

"Well, if you're sure." she said with a grin, and took another strip from the body. She always enjoyed eating things she caught and killed herself, especially since this was a newfound independence.
"My name is Shiva." she answered in between bites. He was interesting, and she liked his name as much as his pretty colors. "Where are you from?" She was very curious about him, and figured if he would talk about himself, he wouldn't ask her about why she was all alone.
She hated lying, but thought it best to keep Ghede a secret for now. She didn't want the creature to be put in a position that he might have to defend himself, to kill one of her own.

Reaumer nodded his head, happy she wasn't too incensed that he declined her offer. Shiva was a nice name, he thought. A nice name for a pretty interesting pup.
"From here and there." Reaumer didn't quite know where he was from. He had been in and out of it, always being submissive to some other wolf. Some other higher and more dominant wolf. He didn't mind too much, he was pretty submissive and wasn't assertive. After all, what did he have to be aggressive over?
Reaumer sighed. He couldn't concentrate on anything but that the pup was alone. He wanted to make sure Shiva was all right. "Well pup, where are your minders. You shouldn't be left alone without a watcher. Especially with the dangerous packs around at night."

Submissive, wasn't assertive, pup is alone..
The pup shook her head suddenly as foreign thoughts breezed past her mind. Was that... Reaumer? His next question settled it. She had heard him when he wasn't even talking to her. She would file this away and ask Ghede about it later... maybe he could teach her to strengthen the ability and use it with more stability. She had no doubt in her mind that it was her second hearing and not Reaumer broadcasting on purpose.
"Um.." she stammered. She couldn't avoid the question now; His thoughts gave him away that he really was worried for her being alone, and she had a good feeling that he wouldn't just leave it at a simple generic answer. But how to explain Ghede? She didn't even have a name for what he was...
"My..." what? whaaaat... her what. "My father is nearby... his name is Ghede." she smiled, trying to shake off the nervous chill that crept up her spine. It was her deepest hope that this wolf would take that for an answer. She really didn't want to start spouting nonsense about some 'creature' who walked on only two legs and spoke an entirely different tongue... to all but Shiva.

Reaumer could tell the little one was nervous. Why? He was very much concerned, even with this father around... He didn't know if he left the little one alone if something would happen to her in the split second it took for this nearby one to come... She seemed to not want to tell him buch about this "Ghede" so Reaumer decided he should stick around. After all it was best to make sure Shiva was safe, when in doubt a wolf will do what a wolf has got to do. This was ensuring the safety of a young pup.
Reaumer smiled at Shiva, to show her he meant her no harm. "Well maybe I can meet your father? I'd like to meet the one who helped raise such a nice young one such as you."

Oh hell...
What now? There was nothing she could do but continue to resist. She didn't want to make her 'father' sound like a jerk, but he wasn't really her father, and he wasn't really even her species. She didn't think the other wolf would understand at all, and there was a very real danger that there could be a fight. Reaumer's mind could be compromised greatly in that event...
He's not very friendly with strangers? He's busy and doesn't want to be bothered? She had no clue what excuse she could use and was now feeling pretty foolish for leaving the den again.
From the other wolf's thoughts creeping in here and there, Shiva could tell that Reaumer meant her no harm. She decided to take a chance, hoping that he wouldn't snatch her up and cart her away from Ghede.
"He walks on two legs... I can't take you to him." she admitted in a half-whisper.

Reaumer paused. He tensed a bit. A two-legger? Was it one of those pale skinned ones? Or a dark-skinned shorter type? Reaumer was concerned but he could see now why Shiva didn't want to tell him. A two-legger. How strange.
"This... two-legger. This Ghede. It takes care of you?" Reaumer was concerned but.. she was fine for now right? Though Reaumer wished to give this two-legger a bit of his mind for letting her be by herself at this late in the night.

"He does, yes. He doesn't feed me, he makes me hunt for myself... but he taught me how. He doesn't want me to become 'tame'..." whatever that word meant. From the emotion he put into it, Ghede thought becoming 'tame' was a terrible fate.
She felt the other wolf's concern, and wanted greatly to console him that she really was alright but she simply couldn't tell him about the strange power she shared with the ... two-legger. So that's what he was called? She filed the question away in her brain, to ask Ghede later.
It was apparent that she was a happy, healthy pup of good size for her age. Ghede took very good care of her, though he didn't make any move to keep her locked away from the world, and that's what she respected most about him.

Reaumer nodded. As long as the two-legger wasn't hurting her, as long as she was safe and was growing to be a young she-wolf who could help herself, the human wasn't doing her a disservice. This Ghede made the young Shiva hunt and grow... she wouldn't be a caged dog.
Reaumer pondered, what was she out here for then if she had a watcher?
"Why isn't this Ghede here to keep his eye on you? There are evils abound in Telk, young one," Reaumer told her. It wasn't too safe, even for a young she-wolf and a two-legger watcher.
"Maybe you should go back?" Reaumer huffed and sighed. Though maybe the young one wanted to get away and have fun. Young ones were like that, running away from the eyes of their minders.
"What is it you came here to do Shiva?"

Shiva bowed her head. It seemed that she might have to tell this wolf about the power that she and Ghede shared. "I just like to wander a bit." she confessed. "I never go past a certain distance, he could still hear me if I were to howl." It was a half-truth, anyway. Ghede could definitely still hear her mentally call out if she were to do so from this distance.
"To do?" she asked, never really thinking about it before. "Well, I guess I came to find friends." she offered a lopsided smile. "One day I intend to travel and see the world, and... well, a wolf needs friends who are other wolves." she finished, taking a deep breath.

The male wolf smiled, at least this two-legger could come at a moment's notice if she shouted. He didn't think he would think well at all if Shiva could not be protected. What if she was taken by others from a home she knew? That could be a traumatic experience for a young pup.
"Try not to wander too much, and always be prepared to howl for help," Reaumer advised. Who knew how many wolves were taken from comfortable homes or harmed when they weren't able to get the help they needed?
Reaumer gave the young she-wolf a pat with his paw. He smiled and said, "Well you have a friend in me then young one."
Reaumer eyed the stars, the darkened sky as it was. "Are you sure you don't want to go back to the two-legger yet? I heard that they sleep most of the nights away."

Reaumer was thinking about pups being kidnapped, but he wasn't specifically plotting to kidnap HER. She liked the dark red male, and smiled happily as he warned her against the evils of the forest.
"Of course not, I always make sure to stay within... " she stalled a bit, searching for the 'normal' term. "within earshot."
The pup's ears flattened playfully with the head pat and she ducked her head a bit. "And you in me!" she agreed, enjoying the connection and declaration of friendship.
The she-wolf wasn't sure what the creatures were like as a whole, but if that's what they did, hers was weird. "Ghede likes to sleep when the sun is out... " she pondered aloud, wondering silently if hers was sick.
She did her best to hide the worry on her face, and stood suddenly. "Maybe I should go home..." she half-whispered, suddenly frightened that Ghede might not be there, even though the soft ebb and flow of his brainwaves was still prevalent in the back of her mind.
