One question that I am constantly asked is,
"What are YOU doing to be green?"
Well, for one, I created this guild, uniting green people everywhere, and teaching others how to be green. But aside from that, I do lots of small things around the place. For one, I have a compost bin. For those of you who don't know, a compost bin is a place (outside) That you can throw all your organic garbage, and make it into compost. (it works quicker if you flip the content of the bin around once a week.
Another thing I do, is I have an organic garden. I use compost from my compost bin to fertilize my vegetables. This allows me to have fresh, tasty veggies throughout the year. Who would've thought Brussels sprouts could be good when there not flown across the world? This also lowers there price, tremendously. Each fresh tomato only costs a couple cents. How cool is that?
I also go around, like, once a month and pick up trash in the local ditches. This helps pretty much everyone. Sometimes, I'll even find the occasional treasure, like a nice, green, 20 dollar bill. That's a reward in its self. I usually take the trash we get and recycle what I can. But sometimes, the stuff is beyond sortable, so I just pitch it.
I am currently active in a group that is trying to stop "Fountain Mountain" a landfill that the gov wants to put in our county. Its an ongoing battle, but were winning. They want to put the landfill right by our water shed. The drainage from the landfill would pollute the local water for miles. All the local habitat, resources, and fish, all gone, by one dang landfill.
I also make sure to do the little stuff, like recycle, turn off lights when I'm not using them, and take short showers.
Sure I'm not out picketing a taxidermy, or protesting a logging company, but I do believe I am making an impact.
