Julien slipped the small stack of textbooks in the library chute, then stepped inside the cool building, waiting a moment as his eyes adjusted from the brightness of the summer day outside to the darker feel of artificial light. After a moment, he stepped forward, heading with unerring steps toward the section that held college textbooks. But partway there, he paused, frowning just a little as his head lifted. He felt... odd, turning to find his feet pulled in a different direction.
He followed the feeling until he caught sight of a woman with dark skin and pink hair, and then he began to smile. So... that's what the feeling had been!

Pasayo was slowly learning to enjoy reading about things other then the Victorian world, her mind previously wrapped solely around the notions that came from the time her Masters had raised her in regards to, and as she closed the book that spoke of an era called the 'Roaring Twenties' she could not help but let a small smile cross her thick lips. Her eyes narrowed merrily as she ran a gloved finger over the spine, letting the fingertip stop on it's corner for a moment. She was debating on checking this book out, bringing it home to read, though she knew it would be a moot point if she did so. Master Houkan could ask for it in their own library and it would be there, but something about the thrill of want . . .
She shivered slightly in her own thoughts, softly chiding for being very unladylike today with her unusual choice in reading and actions. Normally she would have stuck to something she was quite familiar with but she had wanted to try an adventure. It was turning out to be most fortuitous until . . .
There were eyes on her. Not the kind she normally received when she walked outside, the looks she had long grown used to since the days of her childhood, but the looks of someone looking directly at her and not at her skin. She drew herself inward, fearful. Pasayo was unsure of what to do, her fuchsia eyes sweeping the area.
Who could be watching me. . .?

"Hello," Julien offered, when he realized she was looking around. He tucked one hand in the pocket of his jeans, offering the other to her in a friendly, casual greeting as his eyes swept over her quickly before settling on her eyes. "I don't think we've met before," he added, and though the words could hold all sorts of implications, his eyes were open and friendly.

Pasayo drew back as a hand reached out towards here, merely in greeting but still unfamiliar to the teenage Ashe, and for a moment a bemused expression remained on her features. This person felt so much like her it was almost too painful to ignore, a throb in her chest telling her over and over this was a being with whom she was kin, the expression finally fading from her lips and eyes when her mind roared in her ears that everything was alright.
"I...I believe we have not. I do not recall you in any of my memories or the places I have traveled."
Slowly her grip loosened from the books she held in her arms, possessive in the manner a mother would hold a child, and even more slowly she extended her own right hand out to take what as being offered. Her hand moved palm down, the manner a woman extends her hand for it to be kissed and not shook, though Pasayo did not know what this stranger would do next.

Never one for particularly formal gestures, in his past life or now, Julien took her hand. He could tell by the angle that she wasn't expecting the simple shake he used for nearly everyone else, and purely acting on instinct, he simply held her hand for a moment, covering it with his free one before letting it go. No kiss, no bow... the thought just didn't occur to him, and he was far too busy actively thinking about her words.
"We've met now, at least," he added, the smile he offered as open as his eyes. "My name's Julien, but you're welcome to call me Jules, if you like."
