heart heart heart

Hello! My name is Rachel and I would like to show you all how I draw chibis. My scanner is broken for the time being so I used my camera for the photos but they turned out really crappy so I hope you all don't have a hard time seeing them!

Anywho onto the tutorial!

User Image

First off you want to draw a circle. It doesn't matter if it's lop-sided at the top because you can fix that when you draw the hair on it. What I do is little strokes at a time then I go back and erase all the little marks.

Note:
For all the drawings you do, you have to be looking down ontop of it. The reason why some pictures look slanted is because you are looking at it and drawing it from the side. You want to look down on your picture.

User Image

Now draw a line down the center. This line helps you place where the eyes, lips, and eyebrows will go. Afterwards, draw at the bottom of the circle the cheekbone. This is the major part of any person you draw because people HAVE CHEEKBONES. Draw the line in the center down a little then, from the bottom side of the circle, draw a line out and curve it till it touches the end of the center line. After that, finish the chin by connecting it to the other side of the circle. Now you have the head made.

User Image

Draw lines parallel from one another, the first one starting where the cheekbone begins and the other, about, in the middle of the circle though a little lower.

User Image

Use the center line to draw in the eyes, lips, and eye brows.

User Image

It's hard for me, also, to draw eyes in the right position when the head is tilted. So when you think your eyes look position good enough then erase all the lines except for the top center line, as shown in the picture.

User Image

Now, you want to mess around with what hair styles you think would look right with your chibi. Draw LIGHTLY until you've found the right one. Once you've found a suitable one, press down lightly and slowly till you have it nicely outlined with black lines.

User Image

Mess around with different positions. Since we are drawing the skeleton right now, you want to use thin lines and circles. Draw circles where the joints are supposed to be, like the shoulders, hips, and the feet. You also want to make sure your hips are as wide as your shoulders.

Human proportions states that your hips are as wide as your shoulders so make them that way or it'll look weird.

User Image

Now draw the form out. Make the arms and legs thick. Even though chibis aren't suppose to have necks, you can still have them. Make the waist thin and the hips a little wide. Look at the picture if you don't get what I mean.

I didn't like the position my chibi was in so I changed that. Don't be afraid to do that. Anyway, after you're done, erase the 'skeleton' so all you have is the form, example; look at the picture.

User Image

Mess around with the type of outfit you want, draw lightly till you find the right one.

User Image

Once you have your outfit, put some designs on it or some accesories. Add some ribbons or hair pieces. Bling it out if you want. Now everything is done, you can color it or leave it the way you want. You have now made a chibi!

I hope this helped and didn't confuse too many people, hahah.
