This is something I've noticed for a while now. Every time a poll on abortion is taken, the results always show that women oppose abortion in higher numbers. There are a lot of men who oppose abortion too, but it's ironic that abortion, which is deemed "a woman's right", is opposed by lots of women! Here is my opinion: Over the years, women have seen that they've been lied to by abortion advocates. They have become disillusioned with the "choice" and "female empowerment" rhetoric. A real woman would say, "Who are you to call my child a blob of tissue?" Plus women deserve better than abortion, right? Pro-life feminist Melissa Simmons-Tulin once said, "Women will never climb to equality over the dead bodies of their children."
Your thoughts?

I once took a poll of the guild to prove that there are more Pro-Life women than there are Pro-Life men.
Men, in my experience, tend to be Pro-Choice for reasons that are either wimpy (I think it's immoral, and equal to murder, but it's not my body/I think it's immoral, and equal to murder, but I don't think I have the right to force my morals on someone else) or selfish (I support women *wink wink*/I want to sleep with women without risk). There are a few who are legitimately caring and that's why they are Pro-Choice, or legitimately caring and that's why they are Pro-Life, but most men are either Pro-Choice for bad reasons, or non-political about abortion which is almost the same thing.

I'm a female pro-lifer, and I think for me, I became pro-life when I finally realised that abortion was harmful to us. Before then, I was utterly terrified.

While it's true that women are undeniably more opposed to abortion than men are, you can't just say "real women react this way."
I agree with the sentiment and I've seen this reaction with my sister; she cannot handle the topic of abortion while pregnant because the thought of her child being ripped out of her womb and killed is so extremely disturbing to her that she can't handle it. For me, it's gotten so personal that I can't handle debating it because of a situation that came up in my own life. The emotional response is so fierce I just can't stay emotionally detached, and since I don't want to say, "You baby-killer!" because it's not true or helpful, it's my gut response after said situation, and it wasn't even an extremely traumatic or difficult situation.
We give birth to children. Even women who have never given birth have an emotional connection to pregnancy; it's evolutionarily hardwired into us, and our society adds to it. But women don't cease to be women when they have abortions or support abortion. Indeed, women who have abortions despite reservations are victims of a society which says "We will not help you, you are a slut for getting pregnant and abortion is your only salvation." Seriously, we are encouraged to have sex, yet when we get pregnant, we're slutty and immoral. All sides do it and it's disgusting. Abortion allows them to continue using pregnancy to keep us in line and be good little girls who do as they say or else we can't possibly succeed. If it hadn't been for the legalization of abortion, they wouldn't be able to get away with the crap they do. Anyone who thinks it's a step forward for women is delusional. It allows certain women to make a sacrifice to do what they want to do in life without having to get off their asses and fight for true equality. No man needs to kill his child to succeed in life, but listen to their arguments, how abortion saves women from failure in a career or school, and that is just so sad. It is the saddest thing on earth that their arguments for why it should be legal highlight our utter failure to fight for equality. That we have agreed to kill our own children to fit the mold, that we have agreed that it is an acceptable compromise and there's no need to keep pushing, that is sad. And that modern day feminists have grabbed hold of it and made it their own cause, to further excuse the lack of fighting for true equality, how can that be anything but sad? Some of them do it, but most of them sit back and go, "Well you have abortion, you don't NEED to fail." "But I don't agree with abortion." "Well that's your choice."
No. If men don't need to choose between killing their children and going to school, I sure as hell don't and ANYONE who can accept that is deluding him or herself in saying "I'm a feminist."
But yeah. In my experience, men tend to be more pro-choice than pro-life, for the reasons Andy listed.

I agree. I think far too many men are pressured by political correctness when it comes to this issue, it's sort of like the whole deal with white conservative republicans when it comes to touching on any subject that deals with race. They typically ignore it, push it aside because if they do speak up they will take a lot of heat for it even if what they are saying is devoid of any sort of racial prejudice.
