so, where i live we have to pay for this box to ship our recyclable electronics to a larger town. doesn't make sense to me. as a result, i had several computers that lived in my shed. recently, our library started their summer reading program, the theme being all about going green. they have craft projects all over the place, using anything they can get a hold of - robots, junk jewelry, whatever. i now have this nifty choker made of leftover plastic 'turquoise', leather boot strings, and an esc key.

Every year my son and I do The Xstream Clean event. At this event hundreds of voluteers get together and remove trash from the Mississippi River as well as other streams and rivers. This year there were 45 sites and we removed over 180,000 pounds of trash from the watershed. I have also adopted a 2 mile stretch of the Mississippi which I try to keep clean. Also I am working to help the kids from a local elementary school participate in World Water Monitoring Day, which is a water quality event to boost awareness and monitor streams, rivers and lakes across the planet. This year WWMD is September 19th.

What I've physically done for the environment outside of my daily life is I've done the Walk For Water and I raised like 200 dollars and walked around down town Ft.Lauderdale. I've also done Clean Up Your Park, and cleaned up trash at my local parks. I hope to do more things in the future. Hopefully more things will come along.

I can't do much, but I do what I can. I recycle, I turn the water off when I brush my teeth, I wait until the dishwasher is full to run it, I make my friends throw stuff away in the trash can, I use a water jug as opposed to plastic water bottles... but I guess it all adds up eventually though, right? Have you noticed Crayola is using recycled materials for their products now? I always did love Crayola! FORGET YOU, ROSE ART! YOUR CRAYONS STINK! Oh and im growing strawberries! I love strawberries!

I've made the environment and shifting our culture my career - I'm going to be finishing my Master's degree in Expressive Ecopsychology in December. 3nodding It's great to see so many of you young people (and some not-so-young people wink ) deeply concerned about the environment. In addition to living as sustainably as I'm able to, part of my job is to help motivate and encourage others to live sustainably and in a balanced cohabitation with nature, as well as to provide education and resources for those who'd like to but don't know how.

I really want to help animals, and soon my family's supposed to start donating money to charities for animals. Right now we can't afford to because my dad won't pay the bills, but my mom's planning on moving. I want to donate my own money, but my mom borrows it for bills. I have cleaned out a lot near my house where once there were some turkeys when some morons built a casino in some woods and the turkeys had to leave, but it's mostly squirrels, groundhogs and other small animals, rodents and cats. We've gotten a wolf very close to here once because someone keeping it as a pet (they tied it to a tree with a leash..."your problem now"!) , and there have been (very few) cougar sightings in my neighborhood in the past few years, so it obviously wasn't much we did. Seeing as it was trashed again a day after. But atleast I helped some.....is that a gila monster?! (Funny thing is, I live in northern U.S. Someone was keeping it as a pet obviously, and it got loose. xd )
