Have you any wonderful Pets?

I sadly only have one now. Polgara Puppy, she is now 3.
My little Garath had to be given up, due to circumstances beyond my controll.
It was heart brakeing.
my kitty ran away, and it's been hard in the pet department.
But I am greatful for the one I have left.
She is sweet and kind, and wonderful.
She is probly the only type of child I will ever have, besides, I don't have to send her to college.

*hugs Gwyndara* I'm sorry to hear about your pets. That's so hard! It wasn't that long ago that my parents put "my cat" down. He was about 19 years old. We got him when I was little before I had (or at least before we found out about my) allergies. He stayed with my parents after I moved out.

Due to my allergies we're not going to have any cats, or dogs, or birds... rolleyes

I do have a pet frog named Frosk (Frosh) WhaM Eventually. He's an
Aquabibies frog.

These frogs have a 3-5 year estimated lifespan, and I think that Frosk is about 5 years old now.

I like cats but have to admit I am not a dog person. Jen already explained why we can't have those. I also had an aquarium (freshwater) when I was younger and have considered having one again. Finally I have wanted to get an empty aquarium and make a habitat for a pet gecko. I would have to learn how to take care of one since I have never had a gecko (or any other reptile) before. I'm pretty sure that eat bugs and we have lots of spiders. Jen and I have discussed whether or not it would be good to have a gecko with small children. If anyone has any knowledge I love good advice.

Gecko's are good pets well it depends on the kind you get. If you DO get one Get the Lepoard Gecko, or a Fat tailed Gecko their the calmest of them but they cost a little more than you might want to spend (At least around here their more pricy than the other Gecko's) Also with a New Baby on the way it is not RECOMENDED to have reptiles dew to saminala (sp?) but I've known people that have had newborns in a house full of reptiles you just have to becareful and wash your hands after doing anything with the reptiles. I'll see if I can still get into the Petshops printout sheets for you and post some on Gecko's for you

Fat Tail Geckos

Fat Tailed Geckos as Pets: This gecko lives is cooler shaded forest areas. They grow larger, thicker tails that resemble their heads. They wag their tail when predators attack , so that the predator will bit the tail instead of their head. They they run away and grow a new tail over time. The tail is used to store fat. Fat tailed geckos are very hardy and gentle lizards. They are one of the best choices for beginners.

Required Equipment
Recommended Equipment

Aquarium with screen cover (10-20 gal) Book
Undertank Heater Ground Shelters
Water Dish Fluorescent Light with Repti-Sun 5.0 U.V.B. bulb
Bottom Cover- Calci-sand or turf Powered Vitamin Supplement
Water Mister Spray Bottle

Housing: A 20 gallon tank is adequate for the life of your gecko. Leopard geckos are ground dwellers, so provide shelters on the ground instead of climbing branches. They enjoy hiding for the greater part of the day.

Substrate: We recommend Bone-Aid Calci-sand, which should be misted daily. You can also use reptile turf

Cleaning: The cage should be spot cleaned every week, and completely cleaned every month or two.

Heating and Lighting: Fat Tailed Geckos are very easy to heat and provide lighting for. You can use an under tank heating pad on one side of the cage to achieve the 82 degrees hot spot, while the other side of the cage can drop to 70 degrees. Fluorescent UVB lighting is beneficial, but since this gecko hides so much it is not required.

Foods: crickets, mealworms, other insects. As adults: occasional pinkie.

Vitamins: Vitamins are a beneficial supplement, but don’t overdo it. Phosphorus free calcium powder with vitamin D3 can be offerd once or twice weekly. Multivitamin powder should be offered once or twice weekly, also. We sell a wide variety of vitamin and calcium powders, but recommend Pep-Cal Herpvite in conjunction with Rep-Cal Calcium with Vitamin D3. Sprinkle powders onto food.

Water: Spray cage twice daily and keep a fresh dish of clean water in cage at all times.

Longevity: 6-10 years

Natural Range: Pakistan, Northern India, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan. We sell only farm raised specimens.

Compatibility: Leopard & Fat Tailed Geckos should be caged in pairs or trios, but not with other types of reptiles

Great great news!
My Kaila kitty came home, she ran to me and was meowing, I picked her up, boy is she getting big and fat, she is twice the size she was when she left.
A man came walking down the side walk very birskly.
"Hey did you find that cat?" he asked friendly.
"No, she's mine, I've been missing her for several days." I answered just as kindly and quite excitedly.
"Oh." he said sadly.
Then my wonderful husband said, "Do you have kids?"
The mans face lit up. "Yes."
Then I knew the kitty would be better off with him and his family.
"You take her home then, We don't have any kids, and I just brought her home because the lady at work didn't know waht to do with her." Then I handed the cat to him.
He took the kitty. "Really? are you sure?" he asked with hope.
"Really, I'm sure. She is better off with you." I answered with a grin.
He took the kitty. "I can't wait to tell my wife."
"What did you name her?" I asked.
"The girls named her "Tiger" he answered.
"Well, it looks like "Tiger" has a good home." I exclaimed.
He was so excited. and took his kitty home.

The reason she had been missing for so long, is that this family had thought she was a stray and had adopted her and had been keeping her indoors.
The best part is she only lives two houses down, and so she might come home again, and I know just who to take her back to.
She is eating solid foods! they have been feeding her Tuna and wet kitty food.
It's so great! I'm so happy!
It's wonderful!

we have a yellow lab named Penny who turned 1 year old in Nov. '04. So she's still pretty wild and crazy. we hope she'll settle down some by the time we have a baby cause she'll be over two by then. but she's my baby. she's really calm around me, but whenever dad or a new person is in the mix, no one can get her to behave.

i felt really horrible because i got a call this morning from a lady down the street who said our dog was in her house. she had opened the door and penny just ran right in. luckily the lady had two house dogs so it wasn't something she wasn't used to, but she had two smaller dogs and well... penny's a beast! She apparently decided that the hot wire doesn't hurt anymore (that's because it's been off for several months, but she's finally figured it out)

she's definately a handful, but we love her!

We have 2 dogs. A white german shephard/wolf mix and a purebred springer spaniel. The wolf is 6 this year and the spaniel is 5. Both females, the wolf used to be a handful and a spaz but has really calmed down and the spaniel is now our spaz. They are both SO wonderful with the baby though and I couldnt be happier with how sweet they are. ^^

We have three cats Daisy User Image She's a bit moody and is really attached to me.

Munquiis (pronounced as in the word 'monkey') User Image He's the nicest cat you'd ever want to meet, but he has an inner ear problem that throws off his balance a bit.

And Timmy User Image He's a bit spirted, but altogether a pretty decent cat. He lacks patience with children, though... rolleyes
