Occupation: Teacher of World History at Ginsei Academy

Mode of Transportation: He typically drives a car, but it wouldn’t be that odd seeing him out walking.

Hobbies: Observing people and the way they interact with each other.

Motto: “You’re two-dimensional.”

Appearance: Duke Seyer is a man with many faces. He is of German decent. He stands at about five feet nine inches.

His appearance varies from time to time, it all depends on where you find him. No, he’s not a shape shifter or any other crazy sci-fi kinda something or another, just a guy that wears many hats.

The first hat is that of a teacher. Yes, he’s a teacher--a teacher at Ginsei Academy. He teaches history, and like most other teachers who teach, he dresses in a casual, yet still businesslike attire. He’s got the slacks, the long sleeved-collared business shirt, a tie, you know the works.

Then he has the casual, casual look--the look that’s him without being all up tight and teacherly. It’s not all that different from his school teacher look. He’s still wearing the same shirt and pants, he may occasionally go for jeans here and there, but nothing too outta place.

And of course he has his typical warrior outfit. He doesn’t go for fancy or spectacular, but still manages to end up stylish. As for what style in particular, it’s hard to say. He wears a sort’ve black, cargo like pants, a long sleeved blue shirt, and a black vest covers over it. Shoulder pads for protection, biker gloves, and oh yeah, he even has chains attached to his pants for coolness.

If appearances are an indicator into the fabric of one’s mind, then the best thing that can be surmised about this one is his broken personality.

Personality: For starters, Duke is an actor. Nexus would call him a genuine poser. Those different appearances he dawns each has a personality of their own. The teacher is exactly how a teacher should be: stern, serious, but willing to listen. In his classroom, he lets his students interact with each other and with him, but he can cut right to the chase in a heartbeat.

The warrior is exactly how a warrior should be: fierce, powerful, certain, ruthless. Since he’s typically the captain of his squads, he’s the one his men look to for leadership, encouragement, and that’s exactly what he gives them. He gives them hope in the face of adversity.

Now outside of school, and outside of battle, he’s a casual and laid back kinda guy. Easygoing is the best word to describe this Duke as. Sometimes he’ll lurk in the background just watching people. Human interactions are an interest of his, so as a hobby, he’ll just watch them interact. It’s quite amusing to tell the truth. Of course when he’s addressed, he’ll address you back. He’s not the kinda person who’ll bark at you and try to scare you away, no, not at all.

He’s also a great people reader. First impressions are lasting impressions, and he has a way of sizing up anyone from the first time he meets them, or sees them interact. He’s not physic or anything like that, so nothing to worry about, but he does pay attention, especially to minor details. Don’t even bother trying to lie to him.

Background: Duke started off as any other kid. Half-way pleasant life, pretty decent kid, had both parents, life in America--all was well. All was well, until the homunculi came. They came and they destroyed everything, everything he held dear was buried alive by the creatures of alchemy. What did Duke do? He ran, he hid, he prayed.

Sounds of war were heard from then on. He didn’t know what was going on after he hid, but he heard screams. Those cries of terror scared him, they scared the mess outta him. Still, he did nothing, and soon after, he blacked out. Maybe it was because he was so frightened, he scared himself to sleep. Maybe it was because his hiding spot was underground and he wasn’t getting much air. Maybe it was a combination of the two.

When he awakened, the sounds were gone. He emerged from his hole in the ground to see his entire city in ruins. He was heartbroken. The ground was painted red, body parts littered the streets, the stench of rotting corpses was enough to make him throw up. He was alone, without a home, and scared.

What if they came back? He had to get out of there. He had to run, and so he did. He was 13 at the time.

He made his way to a nearby city. The homunculi didn’t make it there. The town was untouched by evil. It was actually quite nice. Quaint in many respects. It was small, so practically everyone knew each other.

Duke slowly but surely adjusted and emerged himself into their little society. He got adopted by a nice couple, enrolled in a school, everything’s all fine and dandy, and lasted that way for a good two years.

But then the homunculi came.

Again, they came and destroyed. They killed for pleasure, ate the flesh of the weak, drank the blood of the weary. Local law enforcement was useless. It was happening all over again. All the people he loved were being torn to shreds. No, not this time.

“Not this time,” he said. Not this time.

He ran, but this time towards the monsters. He faced them and tried his best to fight them. Oddly enough, he was actually doing some damage. His punches were strong enough to cause the monsters to rethink their conquest. That lasted for all of a good five minutes. Then they regrouped and attacked the him.

Duke was brutally beat down. His family and friends were turned to maggot food. Everything was gone, and Duke was about to die.

But then a bright light came. The alchemist had finally arrived. They fought off the homunculi, killed them. Duke was relieved, but still so very scared. “Who are you?” He asked.

“We’re friends, and from the looks of it, your new family.”

The alchemists took him in and raised him like another one of their own. It turns out that most alchemist joined the regime in a similar manner. Duke was trained in the arts of fighting. He was issued a kakugane.

Years have passed and he soared through the ranks. Before long, he was second only to the Captain. He was transferred to the Alchemist Regime in Ginsei and used his capabilities there.
