Hello, everyone. Sorry I've been scarce--the job hunt has been a nightmare. I've got a question about an item in diamond/pearl--more specifically, I'm asking y'all to help me test an item.
The Metronome is an item that increases a move's attack power by increments of 10% if the move is used consecutively. Right? It can reach a cap of an absurd 200%, though getting that far is ludicrously unlikely. After testing, I can verify it DOES NOT increase power for multiple hits of, say, doubleslap or similar moves.
My questions are these: First, do you lose the boost if the attack misses, or the foe uses protect or detect? And second: Does the attack boost work for multiple turn attacks (Ice Ball and Rollout)? Inquiring Golem fans want to know!

The boost only applies to multiple selections of the same move, so Rollout/Ice Ball/etc won't get another boost until you select to use that move again.
And I'm not sure about Protect/Detect breaking the boost chain. Smogon says nothing about that, only that using another move or switching out breaks the chain, so I'd suppose Protect/Detect/missing don't do a thing.

And I'm not sure about Protect/Detect breaking the boost chain. Smogon says nothing about that, only that using another move or switching out breaks the chain, so I'd suppose Protect/Detect/missing don't do a thing. Damn. Well, good to know, at least--and thanks. Sigh. I was hoping for something to give a dedicated Rollout Golem; it looks like I'll need to keep hunting.
