Kohaku was like most cubs, curious and wandering. Where he wasn't quite sure his place in the pride yet. He was still too young to really understand it. His mother figured it was better to wait until he was a little older. Though, his Older sister didn't bother to wait. She heard her say things under her breath about males having less say in things then any female. Though, he took no mind to it, and didn't care. He respected his sisters and his mother more then anything. He had yet to meet his father, but he was really exited to meet him.
He moved in a sorta pounce every time he did move. Seeing as he was trying to catch a bug that didn't want to be caught. It seemed like fun, and before he knew it, he had wondered from his family. Though still in the pride lands with watchful eyes he'd never know about. He was completely safe, and knew it in a odd way. His mother told him he was safe as can be, and he believed it without question.
His bright colors made his mother proud, though he was sure she wished he was a female like his sister. Who was very bright as well. His orange stood out well on his purple body. Which made him feel more unique then ever. His sister was orange, yellow, and purple. But a lighter purple then he was. He loved the way he looked, he had to admit.

After his attempted wooing at the paws of the bizarre, clearly confused male on the outskirts of the pride, Hero had been keeping to himself for a few days, unaware that during his quest for solitude he had accidentally slipped through the boarders of a pride. He saw some members of the pride, males mostly, from a distance as he wandered deeper into the heart of the pride, drawn in by the smell of females. Some of the males also saw him from a distance. Yet somehow, the males seemed indifferent to his presence. They were almost uniformly bright lions, Hero noticed, so perhaps they thought him one of their own.
As he picked his way through the dense brush, thinking about what he’d seen, he chuckled uneasily. How funny, to fit in somewhere! He wasn’t sure he liked fitting in. It was new and made him nervous.
The realization that his pink mane appeared quite normal in this pride made him edgy for another reason; all his life, Hero had been searching for his family. For a while he lived with an adoptive family near the boarder of the Pridelands, just outside that beautiful, fertile land, but after years of wandering, he never found any pride where his coat fit in as much as it did here, in this strange jungle. The indifference of the natives also puzzled him. Did they know something he did not? No, that was silly.

Kohaku didn't notice anyone else, didn't notice that there were non bright lions except for the ones he had seen that he was related to in some way shape or form. He was forbidden to really talk to anyone else. Being so young and not knowing the way of the pride, his mother figured it was best to keep him away from those who did know the pride until he knew it too. Instead he continued to play by himself to day. though he normally played with his sister. She seemed to be off somewhere else today though.
His purple dull eyes stayed hooked on the little bug he was still hopping after. No clue in the world that there was a male adult lion heading his way. Nope! He never really saw anyone but his own family so far. He figured it was just to keep him safe and never questioned on it at all. "I've got you!" he said as he lunged for the bug again. Though, like may other times, it escaped his grasp. Too bad, but that didn't make him sad. He giggled and continued to try. Though he had lost it this time.
"Where'd you go" He asked as if the bug would pop out and say "I'm right here!" but nothing like that came. The bug was probably grateful that he got out alive without much but being startled from something 50 times it's size. He laughed. "I'll just look for someone else to play with then!" He was almost too happy for his own good. Though, he loved to be happy. It made him feel good.

Hero paused and looked around, ears twitching. He swallowed dryly. Perhaps he should call hello? What would he say? He didn’t know the ways of the pride.
Before long the voice faded out. That might have been a good thing, it prevented Hero from having to make a decision, but now that it was gone he felt alone and all the more confused. He sat down beside a large plant of somesort (the jungle was unfamiliar to him), unaware that the owner of the voice was coming his way. The bright pink tuft of his tail stuck out on the other side, though most of his body was inadvertently hidden from the approaching cub.

Something pink caught Kohaku's eyes. Curiosity brought him closer to it. It was something fluffy! He wanted to touch it! He moved towards it slowly, with a smirk upon his face. He couldn't help but feel the excitement rushing threw him. He knew it was a lion tail. Probably someone in his family. He wasn't sure if there was pink in his family, but that didn't stop him at all. He didn't think about that sort of thing.
Moving closer, he bent down in pounce mode. Leaving his butt high in the air as any cub butt could be. Tail flicking wildly as he eyed it with wide eyes. He had to figure out how to pounce some how, and what better then a bug, then this lovely fluffy pink tail thing.... If it was a tail anyways. He leaped for it at last. Claws out, but not to the point they'd dig into the fur. For his claws were as tiny as he was.
He was small for a cub... Small for a male too. Most males were small in the pride, but he was really small. Though, he didn't notice stuff like that. He just knew his sister was bigger then him, as well as a few minutes older then him. Which wasn't too bad. She got all the attention from their mother. Yet again, he didn't noticed that either.

Hero stiffened and looked around in surprise, keeping his composure. He was never one to startle easily. He tried to pull his tail away and draw whatever it was out onto his side. When the purple cub suddenly popped out a shiver ran down his spine. A rogue male caught near a pride’s cubs risked death if he was caught. Some prides were more understanding of rogues than others, but some would rather attack on sight than risk a stranger causing harm to their cherished young ones.
Of course Hero would never think of harming a cub. Apart from worrying over his own safety, he also found himself wondering if this cub was supervised. He expected an adult to appear at any second to check out the situation.
Better act casual. Hero smiled a little uneasily, struggling to disguise his nerves as he sat in front of the cub. “Well hey there little guy. What were you doing with my tail?”

If there had been any problem, Melusine would have shown up. Her mother appointed her to watch Kohaku. Which she did with out being seen. She didn't want the cub to know she was watching over him. But that was in the back of Kohaku's mind. What was on his mind was how the tail he was attached to was now moving and he was now face to face with a adult he didn't know. Which was common. Since he was mostly around females. He thought there weren't very many males and he was the only one other then some of his great nephews he had that were the same age as him.
A voice followed when he looked up at the massive orange and pink male in front of him. At least it was a male. "Sorry!" He said with a giggle. "I thought you were someone I knew!" Of course that wasn't entirely true. He wasn't sure if his family had pink. He forgot rather easy when it came to remembering features.

The cub’s markings immediately caught his eye. Orange stripes, a white belly, even some white on his nose. Their markings were different, but also eerily similar. He looked the cub over while wearing his false smile. If he found any pink at all on this cub he thought he would come down with a sudden violent case of the hiccups. Fortunately, there was no pink. With relief, Hero’s smile became more real.
“That’s alright. I used to chase tails all the time when I was a cub. Is your mommy around?”

He shook hes head "She's with my sister, but not my big sister" he said with a giggle. It was funny. He had THREE sisters! Who would have guessed? But no brothers... Unless.... "You look like you could be my brother!" He said with a nod. "Are you my uncle? Or maybe..... My cousin?" He knew he had a lot of relatives, he just didn't know what they looked like. Figured they'd all have orange on them somewhere. This guy really fit the bill. "You got white too!" He said with a smile. "Mommy says white isn't too great of a color for the pride" He nodded remembering some stuff. "But I like it!"
Of course, he just loved himself. He couldn't help it. He loved everyone he met as well. "Mommy says bright colors are better then Natural ones" He nodded. He really didn't think it mattered too much what color anyone was, but he was still young and didn't know anything.

“I, er…” He fidgeted with his paws, cut off as the kid rambled on like a chirping bird. When he finally finished Hero simply shook his head. “Sorry kiddo, I’m not your uncle. Don’t tell me there’s someone in your family with a mane as pink as mine.”
Hero certainly hoped not. He seemed like a nice kid, a bit over-enthusiastic at times, but Hero didn’t want a little brother. What the kid said about bright colors sounded much more interesting than the possibility of long lost kin. The prospect of finding family in this strange jungle was more than a little terrifying. Suddenly, Hero had a clever idea. He smiled encouragingly at the cub. “Oh, really? Does your mom have bright colors, too?”

Kohaku shrugged. "Well, our clan has orange in it, and another had pink, so it's possible. I haven't met anyone from my family really. My mom says when I'm old enough I'll be off to live with the other males of the pride." He nodded excitingly. He couldn't wait to hang out with other males. He only had sisters, and that got pretty boring sometimes. At least, he thought so.
Kohaku nodded "She's all orange and yellow, not like my sisters though. My oldest two sisters, one is orange white and yellow. Looks a lot like mommy. Then My other sister is all white and red with some black." He stopped to take a breath and then continued "Then the sister my age, she's all purple with yellow and orange. Mommy says daddy is purple, and dark purple and white." He nodded. Proud that he might look mostly like his father. He wasn't sure yet, he hadn't met him yet. Soon though.

Hero lay down, making himself comfortable. This could be a good way to learn about the strange pride he’d wandered into. He didn’t underestimate this cub. He seemed knowledgeable, at least as knowledgeable as a cub could be, so he would have to consider his words carefully.
He laughed good-naturedly. “You sure have a lot of girls in your family. That’d drive me nuts. Where is your dad?”

He nodded. "Well, Mommy says girls are better then boys." He remembered over hearing his older sister and mother talking. Something about boys being only good for something or another he didn't catch it. He figured he'd learn that sooner or later. He smiled at the other. "I don't know." Whas the answer he gave. "Mommy says that he's purple like me and Ochiba." Which was the youngest daughter out of all his sisters. "Mommy says he lives in another group of lions."

Females better than males? Hero had to smile at that. “And what do you think of that, girls being better than boys?” he asked, amused.
Now he had met quite a few girls in his travels who thought they were better than males and he never bared them any ill will, for the differences of gender were trivial to him. Females do the hunting and males do the fighting and protecting, generally. He saw no reason why one could not do the job of the other. It all depended on skill. Sometimes he preferred the company of other males to that of females, but there was no reason to say one was better than the other.
What the cub said about color had puzzled him. While he felt some smug sense of agreement with a pride that valued bright colors, it was difficult to say if the pride held this belief or if it was just the product of one mother preaching to her child. On the other hand, there did seem to be a lot of colorful males wandering around. Maybe this was the place for him.
If he knew more about the pride, he would have thought differently.

He shrugged. "I guess I don't mind too much." He nodded. "See my mommy told me all the boys are in one clan. She say's we don't have to do anything. Girls do everything" He told the male. He wasn't really lazy, but he liked the idea of not having to work too hard. He just wanted to play. But of course he wouldn't be there until he was older. He'd have to wait a little while. "I can't wait!" He said thinking more and more on the clan just for boys.
Of course there was much that Kohaku didn't and wouldn't understand until he was old. But that'd come in time. He smiled brightly at the male in front of him. "Are you in the all boy clan too?" He asked the other.
