I know this has happened to me plenty in my life. And sometimes it's really hurtful and you just want to share it with someone who understands. Even just today when I posted up a thread in the Gaia forums to advertise our guild, I got some negative reponses. I don't understand why people do this! It makes me so angry evil I don't go to band threads that I don't like (and trust me, there are plenty I hate!) and go posting negative comments and try to hurt other people's feelings just for having a different opinion than mine!! So, if you need to vent, your fellow Bowie-lovers are here for you!

Emmi Dreamstar I know this has happened to me plenty in my life. And sometimes it's really hurtful and you just want to share it with someone who understands. So, if you need to vent, your fellow Bowie-lovers are here for you! When I first watched Labyrinth.. my older brother thought that muppets were only for Sesame Street and thus "for babies" So he teased me so much for my liking of the movie when I write my fan-fiction of the Labyrinth and write of the goblin king I remember those times and the words come so easy. Plus he liked to say no guy is that "packed" I'm blessed with a guy who has enough hair, that at night it's like having my own mane to play with (wink wink ) As a side note, recently I got the Best of the Muppet Show (all dvds) for a good price (almost 50 bucks) while he tries to buy them one at a time. I'm such a (insert random insult here) I will never let him borrow and burn (copy) my dvds while he suffers with amazon and ebay. Anyone else get even with thier Bowie bashers?

My brothers are constantly teasing me about the Bowie-love, they are both younger than me, so I don't think they 'get' the music or something. I don't know. My dad never ever listened to anything even close to 'mainstream' (even though I think DB needs a little more credit than to be listed as mainstream... but those are his terms.) my dad listens to jazz and whatnot... so I could never discuss my love of his music with my dad.. I always hoped I could cause my dad is a musician and music is his life...so I would hope he would understand... He always tells this horrible story about how he ran into Bowie once in the 70's and that Bowie was all high on drugs (as he often was at that time in this life) I hate that story... and I tell my dad that, but he still loves to tell me cause he knows it bugs me.

So I recently went to Canada for a band trip and on our way back home we stopped in Cleveland, Ohio at the Rock and roll Hall of Fame. So in the lowest level of the building, they have things from all a baunch of different rock artists or just people who affected rock. We were walking through and I got really excited because through the glass I could see some of Bowie's concert clothing. My older brother is in band with me and so is my boyfriend. They both came up behind me while I was looking at one of his pretty white outfits and started yelling "OhMYGOD! IT'S DAVID BOWIE! DAVID BOWIE!!! AH!!" First off I was embarassed because they actually had the nerve to do thing like that in a public place, but I ignored it because I, unlike them, was mature enough to do so... Until they repeated the act upstairs in the merchandise store while I was looking through some of his CDs. Then I beat the crap out of them all the way to the Charter.

People have been telling me I have weird taste in music since I was 13 (and I'm 34 now). It used to bug me some, but not enough to change anything. When people hate on Bowie and his legacy, they're showing their ignorance. Just laugh right back at 'em!

I agree totally that people who can openly hate on someone like Bowie, or any other band that has contributed something great to the history of music (without even giving the music a chance) are being ignorant and have no clue what bands like that are truly worth.

Ain't it the truth. My brother just wishes he was as, uh, "blessed." In the lower regions.
If you catch my drift ; D hahaha.
[Also, on a similar note, he loathes Mick Jagger. ]
