fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice... sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more. men were deceivers ever, one foot in sea and one on shore, to one thing constant never.Name: Jack Sparrow Title: Captain! Gender: Male Age: Adult
Likes: the Black Pearl, open seas, alcohol (preferably rum), a pretty face, his hat and jars of dirt.
Dislikes: Being without the Pearl, traitors, being marooned (made worse without a bottle of rum to nurse his woes), Hector Barbossa (occasionally), curses, being tied down, voodoo.
Quirks: ...everything he is and does is a 'quirk.'
Nutshell: Flamboyant, eccentric, treacherous, and paranoid.
Personality: You'll never meet a stranger captain... because first of all, he's shipless. Though he insists he's still a captain and don't you dare say otherwise!
Jack is full of contained energy, brimming beneath the dark of his eyes like the sea waiting to crash. Not many take the captain seriously, as he rarely carries himself with serious airs when in the public eye - what need does he have for it? Wasn't is Sun Tzu that said "Pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance?" Despite popular belief, Captain Sparrow is in fact a well-read manotter!
Though usually found with a half-grin, a plan in his eyes and rum in his paw, there is more to Jack than he is willing to allow others to see. He has been burned too many times to allow people in again. He keeps even those he considers friends at arms' length. Call it sunstroke, call it paranoia - either way, it's just been getting worse.
Has met: Many!
Hector Barbossa (otter/ m); Tricky, tricky love-hate here.
Elizabeth Swann (e. otter/ f); Ah, an old flame. So he thinks.
Father Abel Nightroad (a. otter/ m); A priest Jack enjoys speaking with when the occasion presents itself.
Admiral Drake Barbossa-Swann (otter/ m); Probably his favorite of the Barbossa-Swann kids, Jack is fond of the smart-mouthed lad.
Pearl Barbossa-Swann (otter/ f); Feisty little thing he hasn't seen in a while!
Mistress Shih Ching (d. otter/ f); Avoid at all costs.
Clopin Trouillefou (d. otter/ m); Ah, the French! Clopin proved to be an entertaining drinking buddy and perhaps the first to endure Jack's company.
Annakail (otter/ f); A curious female with a mind for liquor....
Princess Aurora (a. otter/ f); Jack's best friend at the Oasis and the only woman that can tolerate his presence. He relies on her company a great deal more than he realizes and she is, perhaps, the only one whose honor he wishes to protect.
Samantha (wolf/ f); Lovely she-wolf with a treasure-trove of tails! He quite enjoyed their little tête-à-tête and would not mind seeing more of the lovely predator.
shame on me.

i hope the leaving is joyful-- your lips distil nectar, my bride; honey and milk are under your tongue.
Name: Chel Title: Does 'sacrifice' count? Gender: Female Age: Adult, Elder
Likes: Diamonds are a girl's best friend~ She likes shiny things, sweet meats, a good adventure, but most of all, her freedom.
Dislikes: Being considered inferior, not getting her fair share, never being acknowledged.
Quirks: Often acts disinterested, but that's how she deals with her ridiculous amounts of curiosity.
Nutshell: Easily pleased, shameless, [over]earnest, and just a LITTLE bit greedy!
Personality: Chel makes for an amazing con-artist and schemer, especially when endowed with excellent thievery skills and her womanly wiles. She knows exactly what she wants, when she wants it, and how to get it without getting caught - immediately, anyway. With her quick wit and spitfire tongue, she can weasel out of situations deemed impossible by others.
Chel despises the feeling of constriction and values and protects her freedoms fervently. Even so, she is easy-going, adapts well to new situations, and is eager for experience.
You could also say Chel is a hedonist, with a great love for luxury and physical pleasures. However, that does not mean she shies from romance. Though she may be a shameless flirt, totally aware of her own capabilities, Chel secretly wishes for stability and companionship. She can't help herself - love is something to be savored, cherished, and she wants a piece of it for herself.
Has met: None!
and i hope never to return.

paradise lost. chel's history note; i took EXTREME creative liberties with chel's history. in this small telling, she never met miguel and tulio. in fact, the scene of her entrance in the film was tweaked so that she was captured before running into them. the story of her escape is made up as well. i hope no one is too offended, because there is zero humor at all. x.x
this is the story of how she got to the oasis... sort of.Quote: Chel remembered a time when she loved her clan. When she thought she wanted to live nowhere else! That nothing, nowhere, no mountain or sea could outshine the majesty of El Dorado. What need she of simple mountains when she had steps of gold at her feet? What use was the unruly sea when she had rivers whose bottoms were lain with jewels? Tribute to the gods, live or not, had never once bothered her - to be sacrificed was the highest honor her father had said, words no doubt learnt from Tzekel-Kan, the high priest. And it was. To be sacrificed in the name of a god, to know that come death you would sit with them through eternity until the end of days... it was ennobling. And she thought so too.
Then she, a common woman born of common parents, was chosen as tithe to Xibalba.
She remembered the celebration, the joy. She remembered how priestesses had pampered her, bathed her in milk and honey, dressed her in fine cloths befit for an empress. She had been draped in gold and turquoise, stringed with jewelry and displayed to each member of her mighty clan. You are the chosen one, Tzekel-Kan had told her once as she recited stories from the Popol Vuh. She still remembers the smile that took to his lips as he said it.
Chel also remembers how she had never believed a word from that fork-tongued mouth of his.
Life is put into perspective when your days are numbered. Staring out across her home, Chel realized there was life beyond the loveliness of El Dorado. Trees where wild birds sang and wheeled around the air outside the confines of hierarchy and tradition. Wanderlust planted its seed in her heart out of necessity when she came to the realization that she wanted to live.
So by the early morning light the day she was marked a sacrificial lamb, Chel wrapped up a golden totem of Nohochacyum and made a break for freedom. Gods, every part of her ached from swimming the canal. Several times already the golden totem had slipped from her paws and she had entertained the thought of leaving it behind. And then, with a laugh choked with water, she would remember it was gold, it was Nohochacyum, and she wanted his protection. So she prayed to the god even when her muscles burned with weariness and anxiety, even when she pulled herself to land on shaking paws, even when the echoes of Tzekel-Kan's orders followed her to freedom.
Chel had never run so much in her life. Her paw pads were scratched and torn, flesh abused by unfamiliar territory. She could hear the labor of her breath over the wild calls of the birds around her head. Her chest burned, her heart ached. She could barely string her thoughts into something of coherence let alone notice how the trees began to thin, how the stone marker of their territory was beginning to rise from the mist.
Livelivelive instinct whispered. Loud enough to drown out the footfalls of the high priest's guard behind her as the distance between the two disappeared.
"Halt!'
If she had the breath, Chel would have laughed. Adrenaline coursed a path of fire through her veins. A rush of excitement, fear.... "Save yourselves with all haste. Look not behind you. Get as fast as you are able to the mountain, unless you be involved in the calamity of the city." She looked back to see the guard close in on her. Chel did not turn into a pillar of salt. Chel stumbled in fear of their nearness, one second, one mistake, and they rushed upon her like bees on honey. She shrieked when they caught her, fought and bit and hissed and scratched, but she could only do so much against three much larger than her. They said nothing, grunted in response to her strikes, and dragged her back to El Dorado as though she had never run at all.
As the stone marker that had signified her escape grew smaller and smaller, a quetzal alighted its domed head and cried freedom.
"The gods are angry!" Tzekel-Kan shouted over the din of the cenote. "They sicken our young and steal our old! They punish us for our lack of attention to them! So to please One Death and Seven Death - all the Lords of Xibalba! we have prepared a sacrifice to assuage their fury!"
His claws nipped her skin, gripped her hard when he thrust Chel forward. She stumbled across the ledge, body rocked by the suction of breath rushing in a steady hiss from the gaping cenote beneath her paws. They had already sent mounds of gold down into Xibalba's entrance, its gaping mouth. She wanted to fight, but ribbons of green smoke whisked around her-- Tzekel-Kan's magic was potent. Panic unfolded within her chest, her belly, but she could not respond. She could barely speak, barely breathe.
"Don't...."
"Do not fight the gods, Chel," he whispered in her ear. With one last, shouted invocation he shoved her forward and off of the inscribed ledge.
"May the gods forgive our misdeeds!"
Chel saw color and light on her way down. She felt the wind, heard the roar of Xibalba, saw faces she could not place. She hit the water with little more than a crack! to her name. The fall had looked so much longer, she had found herself thinking. The crashing waters of the cenote folded over her head and swallowed her whole.
All she could think of as she fought for breath was how a quetzal had been gliding lazy circles in the air above her, crying live live live.

but not too loud 'cause the baby's sleepin' i wonder if it knows what the world is keepin'-- Name: Swift Silverwave Title: -- Gender: Male Age: Adult
Family: Cornelius Barbossa-Swann [sire] Xylia Silverwave [dam]
Linnet Silverwave [sister] Sparrow Silverwave [brother] Finch Silverwave [sister]
Likes: Order, plans, cleanliness, smooth rocks, play fighting, taking care of his siblings (aka keeping Finch out of trouble), chaos
Dislikes: Spontaneity (lies!), disorder, lulls in time, being shown up, the beast he's become
Quirks: Swift is an otter of contradictions. While he loves order, he has a deep attraction towards chaos. He likes being a cleaner, going in and righting what others have undone, but lately it seems as though the only person he is cleaning up after is himself.
Nutshell: Brusque, ambitious, curious, overzealous
Personality: Swift doesn't like being wrong... mostly because he often isn't. Generally a well-mannered otter, the eldest Silverwave child is also the most responsible-- or, at least, he was. Often herding his siblings into some semblance of order, Swift never knew what it was like to take a chance of his own, so busy was he making sure his brother and sisters were taken care of. However, after three bizarre strangers came traipsing into the Oasis last Halloween, a curiosity unlike any other was sparked within him, a curiosity once sated, had to be paid for. Wanting desperately to please his father and to be a better role-model for his youngest sister, Finch, he took gifts offered by the trio, which turned him into what he is today-- a bobcat.
He fights constantly with both halves, trying to retain the civility of an otter whilst giving in to the savage grace of the feline. Prey has become predator, and the weight of this power is almost too much to bear. Has met: None!
--up both sleeves while he lay there dreamin'.
