how about ways to use hamburger meat?
am assuming "hamburger meat" is ground/minced meat. if so, here's my (almost fool-proof) recipe for meatloaf:
500grams (about a pound) minced/ground beef
500grams sausage meat (if you can't find sausage meat, just use more beef)
1 egg
2 cups breadcrumbs or stuffing mix
herbs, salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons tomato paste or ketchup
extra tomato paste to coat
simple: put all ingredients (except the extra tomato paste) into a large bowl and using your (clean) hands, squidge it all together till it's really well combined and sticking together. you can use a spoon to mix if you really want, but using your hands is so much easier and more effective - and fun!
once it's all mixed, shape it into a kind of loaf shaped lump and chuck it into a large oiled roasting pan. make sure there's plenty of room left in the pan around it so it can get nice and brown all over.
Put it in the oven for 1 hour at 180C (356F). Take it out and put it on a heat proof surface.
*optional step= carefully remove the meatloaf from the pan and drain on paper towel. carefully tip excess fat out of the roasting tin before putting the meatloaf back in it.
Next, cover the entire meatloaf with the extra tomato paste/ketchup, fairly generously - this should take 1/2 -1 cup of tomato paste depending on how spread out your meatloaf is. The tomato paste makes the tasty crust on the meatloaf, and stops it from drying out.
Once you have covered the meatloaf with tomato paste/ketchup, put it back into the oven for an extra 20-30mins, until nicely browned.
*serving suggestion for leftovers (if there is any) = meatloaf makes the best sandwiches!
