I got to hand it to someone who came up this Steampunk-themed camaro. It looks like a neat concept, but...if everything "here" runs on boiling water, shouldn't this camaro be slowing down after a good 50 mph or so? You be the judge sweatdrop gonk

I'm really not sure what to think of it. Huzzah for the rivets and clockwork interior; but the car itself doesn't look steampunk at all. o_Q

I have to agree. Beautiful gears, but far too modern for my tastes.
Also- is the steam venting from the hood? Wouldn't that cause severe visibility issues?

Oooh... I hadn't noticed that; could prove rather bothersome.

It's a good idea for a Camaro but they could steam it up aittle more. It kind of just looks like a garden variety silver chevy with gears and a steam vent. They get a cyber cookie for trying though.

Oh! I've seen this before! Perhaps they could organise the steam to leave the exhaust, to remove the visibility problem? But it does look a little modern for my tastes. --------------- Now THAT car needs Steampunking.

Eh, decent, but... It is like a modern steampunk. I don't know, but I feel that like everyone's saying, it does need a little more of an antique feel.
There is someone in this area that I see drive by on occasion and their car is friggin' awesome. I can't really explain it. It's an old-fashioned car, likely a custom remodel, but it's an antique bronze and looks somewhat steamy.
But on this subject, car companies are working on hydrogen powered vehicles that expel water when done. Obviously, there are problems, but the idea is awesome. I remember talking about cars that could run on water when I was little, but I grew up being told, "Water can't offer enough combustion for a car to run." (Sure, water can't, but the origin can.) That's pretty steampunk-ish isn't it?
I hope you have fun erasing my post style, though. John Stalvern waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. "This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!" So John gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall. "HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons "I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill. "No! I must kill the demons" he shouted The radio said "No, John. You are the demons" And then John was a zombie. 对了就是那个臭男孩 That's right, that jerk. The reason I did this? The more you type, the more gold you get. See, I'm really a jerk. "I am." is the shortest complete sentence in the English language. Lastly, honey is the only food that doesn't spoil. Oh dear, you're right . gonk It does need more of an antique feel. I was thinking too much about the clockwork rather than how way too modern it looks for the sub-genre DX. But yes, you do have a point about how cars can't easily run if water cannot offer combustion. I was hoping that the solution to the problem would be to have a medium in the car that uses not only water, but pressure to help propel the vehicle and the peddles can be used to either pick up speed or slowly cut the pressurized medium off. And for the record, I got this idea of the "medium" when watching the movie "Steamboy" when James Ray Steam was using a steam-powered device as a makeshift "jet-pack" (although it's nowhere near one, but still has functions like one).

I love that comic. The movie was great, too. I think the inclusion of Dorian Gray was a brilliant idea. But then again, I dote on him. Yes, you have encountered a fanboy of a character created by Oscar Wilde over 100 years ago...

It's too much of a cosmetic/exterior design... It looks like it's just a decal set slapped on a modern body. When I think of steampunk cars, I think of something less aerodynamic, more skeletal, like this: http://www.aohc.it/pentaxday/pday10/pd1059.jpgBut of course with steam powered engine. There really are steam powered cars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_car. Of course these sorts of skeletal designs are horrible for aerodynamics, and would likely get you killed on a highway, so they're not quite as practical... but I don't think anyone expects steampunk to be practical, right? If I had a chance to modify a vehicle to be steampunk-looking, I'd probably choose something with a body/chassis from the mid-80s or earlier. From there, it wouldn't be so hard to make it look steampunk but keep it practical. As long as it LOOKS like it runs on steam, it wouldn't really matter what was making the wheels turn.

It would be cool to have a car run on steam but a steamy looking car would work too. Now those are steam cars. Around town sometimes I see classic cars that would be so cool steamed up. As long as the car doesn't look TOO new, it could probably be modded properly and not be a steam-powered death trap.
