Stefana - - - - - - - - - - saish - - - - - - - - - - soon to come new character :3
It took about two weeks for Stefana to recover fully from the challenge. She did not realize how weak you get if are immobile a few days. She was normally very athletic and it annoyed her that she wasn’t able to get up and move around and that she was so weak. What Saish hadn’t told her was that she was actually asleep for about a month after coming out of the challenge. Saish for some reason didn’t have the heart to tell her that much time had passed. They spent the next few months studying and practicing magic.
A surprising result however, to them both, was after Stef had emerged from her slumber her eyes had turned to purple, the same color as the warrior magi was reputed to have centuries ago.
“Saish, why is it that you have stopped my lesions?” Stefana asked after she had took a book away from her for a full week.
“Because contrary to what is taught over on the main isle you don’t learn from a book, knowledge comes from experience. If all you do is read you will never be strong enough to actually use your skills if needed. You must stay active in both mind and body especially if you are to build up your muscles again. Especially your arms as they were completely stationary during the challenge.” Saish motioned for Stefana to follow her outside the house.
“I understand that, I’m just glad that I’m not as weak as I was when I first woke up” Stef replied “and I’ve gotten stronger in my arms than I was when I first came to live with you.
“Yes you found that out the hard way, as I said before, normally apprentices are killed in the process of searching for their true name, I still can’t believe that your father was foolish enough to not warn you of that.” Stef remained silent; she had a pretty good idea why he hadn’t. He was most likely afraid for her and would not tell her outright in fear of jinxing or frightening her. Stef started to notice that they were not walking along the normal paths that they would take; they were instead walking for quite awhile clearly going somewhere.
“Saish?” Stef asked, “Where exactly are we going? We’ve walked quite a ways…”
“I was hoping that you would notice,” Saish smiled “we are going on a bit of a survival training. You’ve lived here all your life so I don’t have to delay it like I would with my previous students. One of the things that the main isle lacks is a connection to the world, they enclose themselves in stone yet they do not notice that it is of the earth nor appreciate the beauty and the sacrifice the woods and animals would have made for the things around them.”
Stef was used to Saish ranting about the main isle, it made her wonder if the place was truly as bad as she made it seem to be. She always thought back on what the note had said, ‘go to the capital of Sartorn and present yourself to the grand magus’ Saish already admitted once that she would have to go there eventually, to make friends and connections at the very least and to round out her education, And especially for Stef to see the world outside the forest. News was very rare, there would hardly be anyone who would venture to the center of the woods anymore not even pilgrims dared to enter the forest unless they were zealots and even then most would not have news of the outside, especially since most would be dead before getting to the center.
Lost in her own thoughts Stefana barely avoided running into Saish when she stopped. They were standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking the endless view of the forest. Stefana hastily backed away. She never liked heights unless she was holding on to something solid. Trees were the only high things she ever went on and she knew that they would not topple or break easily like a rope or fence could.
