i just got a new computer and i was wondering if it has the ability to type kanji and hiragana and if not do i have to buy a program or download one?

Short answer: Look up at the STICKY on this subject

Long answer: if you have your OS disc you should be able to install other languages. Just go to the thread above and follow instructions
