Darkstar Military Security Force

Overview

Darkstar is a private military company (PMC) organized to act as a security force aboard privately-owned space vessels, such as TranCity. It helps to maintain the peace, provide assistance to the civilian population, and, when necessary, act as a military force aboard the ship. Darkstar is also a major arms manufacturer, and many of the weapons found aboard TranCity and similar vessels are developed and built by Darkstar.

Darkstar Company Policy


1. Darkstar operatives shall follow the Darkstar policy, as well as any rules set forth aboard the vessel they are operating on.
2. Darkstar operatives shall show respect to their superior officers and all personnel aboard the vessel they are operating aboard, as well as to the civilian population.
3. Darkstar operatives shall not engage in any conduct that would tarnish the integrity of Darkstar, including, but not limited to, illegal activities, disrespect towards superior officers or ship personnel, and various other activities.
4. Darkstar operatives shall not engage in any activity that would risk compromising the integrity of the hull of the vessel they are operating aboard.
5. Darkstar operatives shall perform their duties as quickly and efficiently as possible.
6. In the event of the necessity of military action, Darkstar operatives shall make an active attempt to limit collateral damage.
7. Darkstar operatives shall only perform the duties they are authorized to perform. This includes staying authorized locations and operating weapons and equipment they are authorized to handle and operate.
8. Darkstar operatives shall enforce weapon restrictions aboard the vessel they are operating on. Anyone found in possession of a weapon they do not have authorization for, including but not limited to, Darkstar directed energy technology, shall be arrested on the spot, and shall be punished by Darkstar.
9. Any Darkstar operative who violates these terms shall be punished accordingly, including but not limited to, demotion, removal from service, dishonorable discharge and imprisonment.
10. Darkstar is not responsible for any injuries or deaths operatives may sustain during their operations. However, in the event of injury or death found to be sustained through duty, Darkstar shall compensate the operative and/or their family.

Divisions

Head of Operations: Maj. Nikolai Chernov
Darkstar has four primary divisions: Security Force, Military Force, Investigations, and Arms Department. Each division has it’s own Head, of Captain rank, who reports to the Head of Operations; i.e., the Major.

Security Force

Head of Security: Cpt. Razao Asaf Bodan (StonerPeanut)
Security Force acts a police organization, providing services that any ordinary police organization provides. It acts as the peacekeeper branch of Darkstar, patrolling the corridors, investigating suspicious activities and persons, and, when necessary, making arrests.

Military Force

Head of Military: Cpt. Jolon (Ralen Kentovru)
While the Security Force acts as the peacekeepers, the Military Force acts as the peacemakers. They serve as soldiers on board the vessel when needed, quelling riots, raiding locations of illegal activity, and defending the vessel against invaders. Military Force also maintains a fighter presence aboard the vessel, which are used to defend the vessel against attacks.

Investigations

Head of Investigations: Cpt. Riku Murakuma (Requiem6661)
The Investigations Division is the intelligence division, gathering information to help the Security and Military Forces do their jobs. They also act as private investigators, monitoring persons aboard the vessel when requested, and bounty hunters, bringing in wanted persons. In effect, Investigations is like the "Turks" of Final Fantasy VII. Personnel wishing to join the Investigations Division must reach a rank of “Sergeant” or higher, and your progress as a member of Darkstar will be evaluated by three superior officers.

Arms Department

Head of Arms: Cpt. Scarlet O’Hara
The Arms Department is in charge of all weapons and equipment used by Darkstar aboard the vessel. It maintains, repairs and upgrades weapons and equipment, confiscates contraband weapons, and keeps the mechanized units aboard the vessel in working condition. It will also assist in repairs of the vessel when requested.

(note: Arms Department is an NPC-only division. You may not request to join this division.)

Locations Aboard the Vessel


Darkstar’s operations are divided into several locations, allowing for smooth operations throughout the vessel. Each deck has four district, and each district has anywhere from five to twelve precincts, depending on the level of criminal activity in that district.

NOTE: this system of division applies only to Darkstar operatives working aboard the vessel. It does not necessarily relate to the actual division system utilized by Martell Industries for their vessels.

Darkstar Operational Headquarters
Location: The Ring, Decks 32-36, Sections Q-S, Blocks 200-210

The center of all operations for Darkstar, and the largest Darkstar facility on the ship, spanning five decks, three sections and ten blocks. The Head of Operations and the Division Heads have their offices here. All important decisions regarding Darkstar's actions are made here. It also acts as the District Headquarters for the sections of ship it lies in.

District Headquarters
Locations: The Ring, four on each deck

Each district has a central headquarters, which reports directly to OHQ. Each District HQ has a Lieutenant from Security and Military. All Military operatives work from the DHQ.

Precincts
Locations: several precincts per district

Each district has several precincts which contain armories, vehicle repair bays, jail cells and offices and housing for Security operatives. Each precinct reports to the HQ of it's district, and is run by a Security Warrant Officer.

Arms Department Storage and Testing Facility
Location: The Spine, Deck 20, Hangar 20

Adjacent to Hangar 18, all weapons acquired for and by the Arms Department are stored here. This includes the high-level weaponry such as the phaser rifles. It is also used as a general storage facility for other equipment. It is also used for testing weapons. Proper Darkstar identification is required for access. Anyone found inside without proper I.D. will be arrested immediately. The facility is under the direct control of Captain Scarlet O'Hara.

Hangar 18
Location: The Spine, Deck 20, Hangars 18-19

Darkstar’s personal hangar on board the vessel, named so because it is the 18th hangar down the line, despite actually being two hangars in one.. All of their fighters are stored here, as well as any vehicles in transit to other planets. The “Tarantula”, a powerful combat mech, is stored here on it’s long transit to the testing facility on Thebes. Proper Darkstar identification is required for access. Anyone found inside without proper I.D. will be arrested immediately.

Rank System


Like any military organization, Darkstar has a rank system that determines what equipment and roles are allowed to you. The following chart shows the available ranks and bonuses that come with them. The chain of command starts with the highest being Major, and the lowest being Private.

UPDATE: Until a solid chain of command is established, all new members shall be given officer and NCO ranks.

Brevet (Brvt.)
A brevet rank authorizes an operative of a lower rank to temporarily assume a higher rank until further notice. In the event of this, the person's title shall start with the term "brevet", followed by the rank. For example, if someone is brevetted to lieutenant, their title would be "Brevet Lieutenant", or abbreviated as "Brvt. Lt.".

How do you gain ranks? It’s easy. You must be actively involved in the role-play, maintain your dignity, and engage in missions. You must also follow Darkstar’s company rules.

Joining Darkstar


Darkstar has an open-doors policy, meaning anyone can join. To become a member, fill out an application and post it in this thread.

Darkstar Identification


Your character will have an I.D. as a member of Darkstar. This I.D. shows you are a member of Darkstar. For now, only images are available, but we will try to eventually have proper I.D. cards.

Your I.D. image is created using the Dream Avatar simulator on Tektek.org. The simulator can be found here.

Remember, your I.D. image MUST have the following equipment. Personal equipment may be added, but you must have the equipment on in your I.D. Captains are exempt to this rule.

NOTICE: because of the necessity of remaining incognito during their operations, Investigations operatives do not have a set uniform code.

Missions


While operatives are generally patrolling the corridors of the ship or off on free time, occasionally missions will become available for operatives to partake in. While most missions are available to anyone of any rank, certain missions will have rank requirements; effectively, no one below that rank will be permitted to participate in that mission. In addition, missions are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The first person(s) to sign up for a mission are the ones who get it.

Murder In the Night Club
Location: Deck 24, Section S, Block 478, The Diamond Mine night club
Description: A murder has occurred at The Diamond Mine, a privately-owned night club. Darkstar will investigate the murder and attempt to capture the culprits, if possible. Suspects are considered armed and extremely dangerous; caution is advised, and weapons are free. If anyone with a weapon is seen, they are to be detained. If they resist, use of lethal force is authorized.
SECURITY: Security will lock down the club and keep anyone from entering or exiting. They will detain anyone who seems suspicious.
MILITARY: Military will remain outside the club and await further instructions. They will enter and provide support if necessary.
INVESTIGATIONS: Investigations will investigate the crime scene, and look for the culprit(s). They will interrogate any suspicious persons on the spot.

Loose Cannon
Location: Decks 92-96, Block 666
A wanted felon, Dol-Amroth, from Alpha Centauri has apparently stowed away aboard TranCity, in an attempt to escape justice for his crimes. The felon is a dangerous man, having killed several high-level officials, one of which was a Darkstar employee. It is believed he has received cybernetic modifications, making him extremely dangerous. Military is to move to engage this felon and capture him, dead or alive. Heavy weapons may be required, so four Sweepers and eight Gun Heads will be dispatched to assist in the capture of Dol-Amroth. Due to the Freemen League's refusal to cooperate with our search, a company of Darkstar operatives will provide a distraction at the entrance to Deck 92, while another squad sneaks in, aided by a Feral operative, to locate and capture Dol-Amroth. Casualties on both sides are to be kept to a minimum.
MILITARY: Military operatives will search the area in an attempt to locate Dol-Amroth. They will also hold off the Freemen's League while the search is conducted.
INVESTIGATIONS: The Captain of Investigations will assist in the search, and if need be, try to get the League off of Darkstar's back.
Rank requirements: Sergeant or higher, due to the necessity of heavy weaponry
