In the distance there is a field, and beyond that field, lies a lake, from far away it almost blends in with the meadow because the tall grass growing out of it fools the casual passerby into thinking it to be more meadow. But get closer and you'll see the clear blue water beyond.
Look even closer to the scene and you'll see a miserable looking herla with her eyes shut and swollen, and red runny nose.

It was a hot day out and it was most definitely taking it's toll on Lumi... She was extremely over heated and she felt as if she might fall down dead where she stood, especially when earlier in the day she couldn't stop sneezing. She'd been with a group of her friends, Ivy had been uncharacteristically concerned, Makaio had been hovering around her, prodding at her to find out if she was seriously sick or not, and Heret, her sweet Heret, wouldn't leave her side.
She probably would have smiled if she would have been able to stop tripping over every little twig and pebble. She sighed. She needed to find a cool place, preferably a body of water, if she wasn't currently madly and hopelessly in love Heret, she wouldn't have to worry about the heat, she'd be back in the mountains, as high as she could get. But alas, she couldn't go there, Herets fur wasn't thick enough. So she did the next best thing; stayed and hoped to god she wouldn't die of a heat stroke.
Luckily, as she took in a breath of air, she detected a bit more moisture coming from one specific direction, so she decided to walk in that direction. She smiled as she saw a lake with long grass growing out of it. It looked nice, almost as if it were inviting her. She stared slightly at the tall grass swaying in the wind, almost waving at her, begging her to come in and cool off. She looked at it uncertainly for a moment, but finally decided on heading into it when she heard her guardian scolding her for allowing herself to be put in the situation in the first place.
The water was cool, but not cold, almost as if it was fighting off the idea of becoming warm and had instead stayed neutral. It felt nice, especially to have the profuse sweat clinging to her fur to be washed off. She sighed and lowered her body into the water, not caring if her scarf got wet.

Lumi lowered her head and lips the water, taking a small sip. She smiled to herself in releif as the water flooded her mouth and flushed a cooling sensation through out her body, It was nice and relaxing out there. And she was actually surprised about the fact that no one else seemed to be out. If it were just a bit colder, ti would have been a perfect day for her, but alas, the sun seemed to be in control today. Not a cloud in the sky. She resigned herself to the heat, and lowered herself a bit more into the water, her tail floated to the top, but her hair, weighed down by the silver bangle, sank with her. Her head was just atop the water now, and she smiled at the sensation. Her whole body for the first time in weeks was nice and cool. Not cold. Just cool. But it was far better than hot.
"well, isn't this nice." She said aloud, to herself, to her guardian, to the world, an onlooker really wuoldn't be able to tell. Lumi herself wasn't really certain who she was adressing.

Lumi's ear twitched slightly when she thought she head something. She quickly emerged fully from the water, creating small waves as she disturbed the still water around her. She turned around, rather sluggishly since it was hard for her to maneuver in the water and she stared, not openly, becuase that would rude, but towards the small child before her.
AAAH!!!!
she heard her guardian exclaim, followed a few shrill peels of: "SO CUTE! I COULD JUST EAT HER UP!"
Lumi smiled towards the child, her eyes open now, thanks to the refreshing water around her. She titled her head to the side slightly, curiosuly, "Well hello there," She said in a sweet gentle voice, not wanting the poor dear to go scampering off becuase she as shy or scared, her siblings used to stick to her like glue when they younger. "What's your name child?"
She lifted her head and looked around, her wet hair, sticking limply to her side. Had this child come here alone? She frowned inwardly, what kind of a mother would just let their child wander like that? with out an older sibling or parental guidance???

Lumi's head lifted and straightened slightly in shock and surprise and took a step back, the poor baby looked absolutely terrified. She could hear her guardian in the background, chirping off the reasons, one caught her attention immediately- Violence. She frowned deeply and lowered her head, coming eye to eye with the frightened little thing. She was still a little bit away but on the girls level now to make her seem as non threatening as possible.
"Wina, that's a lovely name. It's suits you since you're such a lovely little girl. She smiled like a loving mother or even grandmother with cookies, as if she was trying to console a child that had just scraped their knee.
This isn;t your child.
Her guardian said in a soft tone. But Lumi ignored it, just becuase this wasn't her offspring didn't mean she couldn't be nice to her now did it?
"My names Lumina, it means sunshine, but you can call me Lumi." She lifted her head back up now, and smiled down at the small quivering fawn before her. "Where are your parents Wina?"

Lumi stared down at the girl before her, her eyebrow furrowing deeply as she stared at her. How could anyone NOT care about their children? It didn't make sense to her. Lumi's mother hadn't cared, but she'd always thought that it was a freak accident for something like that to happen. She herself had been trying desperately to have fawns with Heret, and still with no results. She was angry at this little girl, not becuase the girl had done soemthing wrong, but becuase she allowed herself to feel as if the whole situation was her fault. she trudged through the water a slightly upset look on her face. She was up on the land, not dry, but the bank, where the fawn was standing, she stopped right in front of her, a bambi's dad moment going on, and said in an authoratative tone.
"I don't ever want to hear you say that your disturbing me by simply talking to me." She listened to her Guardian scream at her for saying something like that, that she'd probably just scared the kid right out of her mind. She sighed, and her expression softened, she knew her guardian was right. She lowered herself down onto her knee's, so that she was the same height as the little fawn. "That Is... What I meant to say was... You truly feel that your parents don't care?" She felt her heart break as she said the words, how hard it must be for this fawn.

Lumi felt her heart break then, and she was up in a flash wrapping her tail around Wina protectively, curving her body around her in an attempt to comfort her. "Shhh, Shhhh. Don't cry sweetie." She cooed to her, trying her best to stop the tears from the little fawns eyes. "It's alright, don't cry."
She nuzzled her head into the top of Wina's head gently, trying her best to comfort the little girl before her.
after a few minutes of simply repeating those few words over and over again she finally raised her head and smiled down atthe little girl. "How would you like to play a game with me Wina?"

Lumi smiled down at Wina, happy to see that she'd stopped sniffling like she'd been doing. It was just so heartbreaking to see her on the brink of tears. She nuzzled her a bit more, slightly behind the ear and then looked up. A thoughtful gaze on her face as she turned her head in a few different directions until finally seeming to settle on something. Really she was listening to her guardian talking to her, throwing out some suggestions on some confidence building games. she finally decided on I spy.
"Well then..." She said with a smile on her face, "How about we play the game I spy? hmm? Do you know how to play that game? it's really rather easy, I look around and name a color, and you have to geuss what I'm looking at. for example If I said, 'I spy with my little eye something green' you might geuss a tree, or some grass, do you understand?"
