For a little while now, I've wondered where creationists get their ideas from;
I mean, for so many to have the same misconceptions, there must be some central source, right?

I've found the source.
Featuring:
INSIDE THE EUGENICS NIGHTMARE: the tragic consequences of evolution's biggest secret!
(Hitler superimposed on an image of Darwin)

Just browsin' through it, it seems to contain most of the creationist claims listed at talk.origins; just in this one magazine.

Has anyone else read this?

No actually, but I suppose it is a good business model, selling what people want to hear to a fairly large, at least in the US, base of customers.

Probably some good money to be made there. Wish I'd thought of it.

Anyhoo, looking at that headline you posted, they are the usual nuts. Good a propaganda, and giving the people what they want, rather than worrying about little things like the truth. Or journalistic integrity.

Though I use the term 'Journalist' loosely.

I assume these guys are a US magazine?

I think so. I think it's actually sort of part of AnswersInGenesis.

Anyway, without such publications, do you think that people would still have as many misconceptions as they do?

They would probably be about as bad.

The main source of this...memetic virus... seems to be from indoctrination during a childs youth from preachers and parents.

Magazines such as the above, and website such as AIG simply reinforce this for them. Give them some small security blanket to hide behind, while claiming it is all scientific and not at all bullshit.

This sounds an awful lot like those magazines on the bottom rack at my grocery store that advertise titles like 'Bigfoot Found' and 'Hilary Clinton abducted by Aliens' (neither of which I made up). With that in mind, I can't imagine that anyone has been converted by it. Only people who already believe in Creationism could possibly take that kind of thing seriously.

(When I first read your post I thought that 'memetic' was 'emetic' instead of 'mimetic'. emetic- a medicine that induces nausea and vomiting.)

It probably has a similar(i.e. highly stupid) demographic.

lol, that's pretty amusing. And considering the topic...oddly suitable

I was "indoctrinated during my youth", but considering that I form my own opinions, I've pretty much abandoned christianity (unbeknownst to my parents, of course). I find it funny that the majority rules simply by tuning everyone else and feeding each other BS. I read Northrup Frye's 'Vocation of Eloquence' once, and if you've read it, you know exactly how I feel.
