U Know one thing I hate about starter pokemon evolving is that sometimes they get new trates.Like empoleon for instance when it was a prinplup it was water type only now it's steel and water type which means it's more vulnerable to fire type attacks.

It only takes normal damage from fire, though, since it's still a water type, which is great. And steel has a lot of pluses to it, I'd say.
I was disappointed with two generations in a row of fire/fighting starters. I think that's just a dumb combination. The one hardly helps the other at all.

But really, the only loss of Abilities/Typings I rue is Bagon/Shelgon's loss of Rock Head upon evolving into Salamence. Granted, Intimidation has its uses, Rock Head would've still been cool to retain.

I still say that Shelgon should be part Steel, simply because of it's shell. And Empoleon isn't vulnerable to Fire types, just Fighting and ground. Ground is easily dealt with by the Water, so Fighting is your only worry.

Personally, I don't really care for Chimchar and it's evolutions. They're okay, but I like my Typhlosion and Blaziken better. Plus, I use Blaziken's Fighting-type to my advantage all the time. Especially to beat the crud out of Steel-types (even though I do like them..).
I also love Torterra's Grass/Ground is nice, though Ice-types screw it over.
And I am of the opinion that Gyarados should be Water/DRAGON, not Water/FLYING. I mean, the flying does NOTHING for it, and it's even considered a dragon, especially because of the waterfall-climbing-karp backstory.

I don't like Chimchar's evo's either, but Chimchar itself is kinda cute. Blaziken's fighting type is incredibly useful. And I agree about Gyarados, all the flying type does for it is make it weak against Rock types and immune to ground types, which doesn't make much of a difference anyway.

This is why Pokemon should have triple types, at least the ones that need it. You guys forgot double electricity.

One fun thing is to get a fast Gyarados with Earthquake.
The opponent sends out some electric type to take care of it, and BAM, Earthquake. xd

*Writes this down.* ninja I took this tactic with Flufantilius. EQ/Waterfall/Taunt/DragonDance. It's shockingly effective, when I can remember just how much damage he can take. I usually give him a shell bell, or some other filler trifle.

Most people just tend use Rain Dance/Thunder/Ice Beam/(Dragon attack/Surf).

I only looked at the dark side when I should've looked on the bright side.Sure when a starter pokemon evolves and gets a new trate Certain types of attacks have more effect on them but other cetain types of attacks has less effect on them like
Empoleon and flying attacks and psychic attacks
and with a new trate they can learn new moves that can be effective on other types of pokemon. smile
